Way to go, Simion! For most users, Std (Standard) Telemetry Ratio would suffice (it'll adjust depending on what RF Mode or Packet Rate you're using, to ensure you have sufficient update rate for your telemetry without sacrificing your RC Packet send rate) There's Race Telemetry mode for Racers, which stops Telemetry sending once you're armed, maximizing the entirety of the packets for control. Worst that could happen with insufficient Telemetry ratio: Sensor Lost. EdgeTX 2.8.0 with internal ELRS modules have eliminated the Telemetry Lost/Recovered call outs, for me at least.
Very interesting. Thanks for this video. I actually had this jerky issue while running the yaapu script on the RTF version of the xiake800. As soon as i tried to change to 100hz-full from the default 333hz-full there was alot of lag on yaapu.
Finally someone from ExpressLRS team! Can you please advise if there is any document on elrs phisics/protocol? How does it handle interferrence, packets structure, etc...
If you want that level of detail I would strongly advise you to get involved with the project via Github as a lot of the detail is in the code. Best of luck
@@Painless360 You've gave me the same answer as Joshua ;) I've already posted few questions there, entered the discord etc... however I'm still looking for easyer way of getting info :)
Hi, I have INAV6, F405 Wing Mini, and Radiomaster Pocket with ELRS. Trying to set up telemetry so I can see it on Radiomaster Pocket's screen. First timer! I would like to see caution messages, speed, heading, altitude, battery and distance to home and bearing to home point. Possible?
Can you clarify a couple of things for me. First off. The data on this ELRS link, is it "all the data", ie, what would be written to the sd card or is it trimmed down? Second. This is the "tlog" data correct? 3rd. You mention autonomous vehicles so Im assuming it is possible to inject additional data into the telemetry stream that gets sent OTA? How do you select which data is sent? Or does it just send everything thats on mavlink, (ie, back to the "all the data sd card style" ) ... thanks for your help.
Great topic. I'm currently having an issue with one of my ELRD RX where only 10 telemetry sensors are received on the TX (TX16S MII),. Do you possibly know why this may be? I've tried two different rx with the same result. FYI the FC is a Speedybee F405 mini v3, running Rotorflight v2 (latest version).
I cannot find a consistent answer for the radiomaster rp1 tx power (Telemetry back to the controller). Some places say 10mw and others 100mw. What is it?
. I found there are different power levels for receivers. The radiomaster rp1 is a nano size and therefore power is low. I found a diversity elrs iflite receiver that tx's up to 250 mw. Thanks for the fast reply.
@@Painless360 I don't understand why receivers would not match the rc tx power. But then I can always choose something different. As a new guy to the fpv hobby I understand that 10 and 100mw rx's work great for normal distances. I would like to have the same range for both rc txcvr and plane telemetry txcvr. I'm finding it difficult to find a 250mw telemetry txcvr. The rp3 says its 100mw, still looking though.
Hello community! Is it possible to get the battery data from an Frsky x9slim+ receiver using a Mlvss Mini Lipo Voltage Sensor connected to the smartport? Is the function lost when transitioning to Elrs?
@@Painless360 Well Lee, thing is that im currently switching to Elrs using the r9 tx and r9slim rx. Trying to set it up using sbus but the telemetry from s port is lost and the voltage sensor no longer provides telemetry. Am i doing something wrong or the sport sensors loose functionality when using Elrs? Pixhawk is receiving sbus fine through the rc port, and the receiver is supposed to transmit s port data right?
If you are talking about when you flash an R9M receiver with ExpressLRS, then I don't know. I'm not aware that using Smartport sensors will work. Telemetry from the flight controller via CRSF should work fine so I'd use that.
Yes exactly im talking about r9 slim+ flashed with elrs, its quite a pitty as I have not found any other reliable way to measure total as well as individual cell voltage to prevent any bad battery misshaps. Hey, first off Merry Christmas! This is a great video, I am curious, for the Telemetry Lost reporting couldn't you just set the Telem Ratio to Std (1:128) and let the system adjust itself or is that not correct?
I was unlucky switching to ExpressLRS Happy Model. I encountered failsafes less than 100ft. HappyModel helped and tried their best to troubleshoot the issue but they can't figure it out. Inside the house, I am able to arm it. However once I am outside the house(temps below 15-20f), I am unable to arm it. They wouldn't connect. Sometimes I am able to arm it and fly but it will failsafe within 100ft. The ELRS developers also helped me debugged the issue and they think the issue is on hardware specifically the clock. It is documented very well in 2 or 3 of my youtube videos. I just restored back my TBS crossfire hardware.
There's a big section about that on the ELRS website and it shows which combinations need to be avoided and also in a move to try and mitigate that a lot of happy models new stuff have temperature controlled oscillators. But I've seen essentially that same comment multiple times that someone would switch over to elRS have problems and go back to crossfire. It seems like if you value simplicity or reliability untested ELRS setups and especially anything happy model is probably never going to be able to compare to things like TBS crossfire or TBS anything.
I have a happymodel ep1 and ep2 and have had no issues with a jumper t pro internal elrs, I went out to 1.5km today at 250mw I was at between -85 and -94bdm when I did a circle to check antenna placement, on the ep2 ceramic thing I went out to 1.2km and was touching -100dbm and it's really not well placed
@@christhorney Nice! The Happy Model engineers and ELRS Engineers worked with me and they can't figure out for a week why I was having issues. The only last thing they can think that's a possible culprit is the crystal chip and the very cold weather. They said it could be from a bad batch.
