great explanation of the whole topic.
At the end it means that you loose 2 ports in case of the smaller glider receiver ER8g/v and those for the cars.
an important reason to get such boxed receivers with the additional port which can be overlooked quite easily.
    Lots of added value !

Remember that you can bind mutulple recievers, so you can have lots of PWM outputs as well as sbus and CRSF.... Happy flying

Hi Lee! I was struggling to get my ELRS receiver to link to my Ardupilot (on a Matek F405 VTOL) until I found your video on switching it to SBUS. This was the only way I could get channels to be read on Mission Planner. Thanks a lot for your massive help!

I've heard that the speed of the ExpressLRS system can stop it working.. You can try other speeds in the LUA script to get CRSF to work... Best of luck

This info also comes in handy should you ever need to flash one of these receivers via usb. The same pins that would be for serial in/out will be used for flashing after pressing the boot button while powering up. (like if it won't flash via wifi or gets bricked)

Great information. The manual for the ER6/8 mentions UART. I have a FMS Reflex V2 flight controller that I will be getting, and I'm want to connect the two via serial connection. Normal SBUS on the Reflex controller is on input 5, but given CH5 / aux1 / arm concerns I'm thinking of staying away from that and going to a separate UART port on the Reflex controller. Can the port on the ER6/8 also be setup for UART and would it (probably) be able to communicate channel information to the Reflex flight controller this way? Thanks.

Serial port on the RX can provide sbus or CRSF. Watch for CH5 though... Best of luck

Thanks for this. So as I understand it, running sbus on the ER6 receiver effectively turns it into an 8 channel Rx??

SBUS is up to 16 channels normally. I've not tested more than 8 here so let me know what you find... Best of luck

I have a MT12 with an internal ELRS / I have a speed boat that flipped upside down in the middle of pond, can not unplug the reviver, I have a recovery boat to go out and get the speed boat using the same radio. Will ELRS model match let me switch from one receiver to the other with both receivers plugged in? Please help!

Is there a way to set up an Er4v on a ZOHD Kopilot work sbus? Got it to work on the Er5a with channel 5 adjustments but want voltage telemetry.

I'm not sure. No mention of sbus in the specs I could see. I'd connect via Wi-Fi and see if it has the option... Best of luck

This is exactly the configuration I want too. As far as I can see it is not possible to change the sbus ch5 assignment on either the ER4 or ER5, and Kopilot needs the flight mode input on ch5. Did you manage to get round this using the ER5a or did you just use the PWM outputs like I do?

    • @835FPV
      @835FPV 5 месяцев назад

@@ChrisBalmforth It's possible with the ER5, I got it working this summer. You need to change CH5 in the receiver settings to another channel, that way you are able to switch modes using what the receiver sees as "not" CH5 but still has output on the CH5 pins on the TX.
I think the problem is that the ER4 only has 4 sets of output pins and isn't able to handle changing CH5 in settings as a result. Was hoping to post here and be proven wrong lol

Se puede usar los canales pwm para servos y al mismo tiempo conectarlo por sbus para poder armar y desarmar una controladora de vuelo?

I was thinking about replacing the Frsky G-RX8 receiver on my Zohd Drift (Kopilot Lite) with an ELRS receiver to have more distance. Connecting the ELRS receiver via SBUS I'll get the same range as via CRSF? 🤔 TIA

Two questions. The ER 6, 6G and 8, 8G both come packaged with an sbus/tx cable, so I presume you just plug that into the receiver and into any stabliser/gyro you may be using? Secondly, in non elrs recievers, you normally get 'extra' digital channels when using sbus. Is this the case with these Elrs receivers?

I've done some more research. If you're running fixed wing , you can make chan 5 proportional, by choosing the 16/2 option. However, if you're using quads, it's not advisable as it turns off some of the arm switch safeguards... @ChrisBalmforth

Gee seems to get a tad complex thus I shall save this. What the heck don't fly but enjoy the tech ....come to think of it I'm a tad bit nerdish when it comes to tech . Could be my original training some 60 years ago. Studies included electronics engineering, computer programing and biomedics . For fun I designed a quad controller arguing chip and 6000 series gyro, compas and atv11x17 mm small. Wow it worked ... butvretired it broke the useless feeling . Now age has caught up it happens . Thus these little toys keep 3 or 4 Grey cells functioning . Take care.
