I’ve lived in DC for the past 5 years, and every time I travel back to Florida, Publix is my first stop for a chicken tender sub. It’s unmatched. Especially, when you catch from on sale for $5! Pub subs also hold up well on beach trips.

Their Philly with double meat and double cheese hits different. So they don’t use ribeye, or steak at all. They use roast beef, but they sauté it with onions, mushrooms, and peppers. After a night of drinking, that is literally the greatest thing ever. Trust me!

I moved to Florida from Jersey about 7 years ago. When a coworker turned me on to Publix subs, I have to say I was a skeptic. I was like, “How good can a grocery store deli sub possibly be?” The first time I tried one, I was hooked. I won’t eat subs from anywhere else. Plus, you can’t beat the price. Pretty reasonable compared to Jimmy Johns or Jersey Mikes. My favorite is the maple turkey. And no matter what Publix you go to, the deli line is always long.

As a Florida native, it’s always good when someone from Jersey can say a local sub is good! Even not on sale, a large pub sub still cheaper than a lot of the other places. I usually go for a sub on sale that day. Just to try different kinds.

*Tips for an awesome Publix sub*
1.They can make a sub out of any meat, cheese or bread they have behind the glass/counter. You dont have to order off the setup menu. Go look at all the meats/cheeses that get fresh sliced and they'll slice it and use it to make your sub on the spot. I usually get a Boar's head cracked pepper turkey, jalapeno havarti and pepperoni w/ a good bit of veggies. You can even give your own bread. I know people who bring in Jimmy John's bread and they make it on that. They even give them King's Hawaiian 4pks from the deli section. But Publix also makes a bread called White Mountain and its awesome for sandwiches.
    2. Publix bread is HARD. The secret to a perfect sandwich is to put it in the microwave for 40 seconds. I don't mind my veggies a little warm but trust me, its worth it. The bread gets SOFT. I prefer warm sandwiches anyways so the thought of a hot Italian w/ lots of juice and soft bread is 🙌🏾. Publix is one of those places you have to experiment with to find what works best for you. So next time you go back, take a bread you like, find a meat/cheese combo out of the vast selection and put the WHOLE thing (wax paper and all) in the microwave for 40 seconds. Watch how your opinion changes! Love the content bro! 💯💪🏾

    • @ratofnihm
      @ratofnihm 5 месяцев назад +1

I don't microwave it, but I usually leave my Pub sub sit in the fridge for at least a couple of hours before I eat it. The bread is made for sandwiches to still hold up when they're eaten several hours after prepping it (Publix sells even more pre-made sandwiches and sandwich platters than they sell made-to-order ones). So long as the sub is stored upright, so that moisture doesn't make the bread soggy, Pub sub are arguably at their best several hours or more after being made.

I was born and raised in New York but my family and I moved to Miami in 95 when I was 12. My mom would eventually get a job at the Publix deli and man did I love it. The reason their subs are so successful is because they use Boars Head meats and cheeses. I worked for the company in my senior year in high school and I would eat them sandwiches every day til I got tired of them, yeah it happens. Im living in New York again after leaving Florida in 2007

I was born and raised in Jersey, so like you I know a good sub when I taste one. I live in Florida now, and I get subs at Publix at least once a week. The biggest difference that I notice is the cold cuts themselves. They have Publix brand ( which is actually pretty good for a store brand ) and they have Boars Head. I grew up eating Thumans cold cuts, and you can really taste the difference. Publix is known for their fried chicken, so it's no wonder that their chicken tender subs are really good. Their other subs are good, too, but that one is the best. Also, they will make you any type of sub you want, you can pick out what you want from the display case, and they will slice it and make whatever you want. Jersey Mikes also has good subs, but they are more expensive than Publix, and there's not enough locations, whereas Publix are everywhere.

Pub subs are really solid subs. They stuff them and make them the way you like. You got the best one, the Chix tender sub. A nice thing they will do is make a sub out of their salads. So you can get some Egg Salad or Chicken or Tuna Salad and bring it the counter they will make your sub. I prefer to get the Seafood Salad from the Fish area and have them make that sub.

I used to work at Publix. The chicken tender is my personal #1, followed by the Ultimate (turkey, ham, roast beef, and Swiss). The Italian is my least favorite. There are a number of restaurants in Florida that fly in Amoroso rolls. I haven't ever had Amoroso rolls in Philly. As it is, I prefer Publix bread to Amoroso bread. The Amoroso rolls I've had in Florida tend to easily soak through and have blowouts where suddenly half of the sandwich is sitting on the wrapper. The Publix bread is a lot sturdier. That second sub half that's been sitting in the fridge all night has been soaking up all the juices and gets soft but still won't disintegrate.

Why they subs actually look really good!!!!😋.
I love a extra messy loaded sub on some fresh bread!!!
You know jimmy John's has a really good sub ( Garganchas) , you can share with someone it's so big a good, or have some good leftovers. Jersey Mike's has some good ones......
But sometimes it be them ones you make at home that shut everything down😋

I have never heard of this place. Those sandwiches look delicious, but to me there's something different about them from Philly. Philly really represent great sandwiches.

Publix subs are not the best subs that I have ever ordered, but in my opinion, they are the best for the $.Their $10 footlongs would cost $12-15 at the better sub specialty shops. Their fried chicken is yummy also.

A Pub Sub is good with the dirty chips (jalapeño or barbecue) and Publix brand sweet tea or lemonade. I either eat an ultimate sub with roast beef, turkey, and ham or their chicken tender sub.

Chicken tender sub. But you can pick any meat in the deli and get it cut the way you want so it all depends. I typically buy their other bread they it freshly baked and have the sub made on that instead of that bread.

You have to get the bread when they open, otherwise it gets hard. Also get Boars Head meats and cheese and customize ur order. The menu is just a guide. I get chicken tenders sub on white with bacon, garlic pickles, lettuce, no Tom's and havarti cheese. You can also have them give you some rotisserie chicken freshly sliced and make that a sub

The key to a Publix sub is to take it home and toast it up a little more (I like a little crunch in my bite)
