This used to be my Auntie’s favorite sub shop. She passed in 2020 and I now live in Florida. Everyone here loves the Publix sub’s, although they’re good nothing compares to a good old Jersey sub IMO.
yep, those mom & pop joints beat publix , easy
I Feel the same way, I miss subs from up north.
RIH Auntie
Drexel grad. Publix is good but Wawa is superior. Now that WW is in FL (w/me) I’m getting one tomorrow.
@@primeminister66 thank you ❤️
Looks soft and fresh like Jersey Mike's. Thanks for sharing JL
All bread no meat
Lies
@@johngriffith8999 okay 😂
Tastee has been a staple in these neck of the woods for a minute. They don't give as much meat as back in the day but the bread, oil & vinegar has stayed on point. You also have to stop by Harold's New York Deli (Edison) and Riddle & Martin (South River). But bring your appetite.
The meat and cheese has always been the same. I don't understand what your are talking about. It's always the same since I have been going in the early 70''s. Harolds is great too. However their sandwiches are like over 60 dollars right now.
Passed that place millions of times. Now I need to visit.
I love that he visits these small shops that have been around for ages and are part of the community. Love these types of comfy videos
"That's good!...That is good!...That is delicious...mmm..mmm..mmm..it's delicious!...second shop? okay, this is good!" - not one bite observed in the sandwich. 🤣
YOU'RE IN MY TOWN!!!! ENJOY IT'S BEST SUB EVER!!!!
A very enjoyable sub 💯
Been going there for over 50 years. Always the same. Very good number 12 is my go to.
Nothing like flavors that bring back nostalgia 👍🏾
My Wife and I get sandwiches from the one on Route 27 all the time! Great turkey & cheese sandwich! And we wind up splitting a whole sandwich and it always hits the spot! And the pool hall next door used to be a bar that I used to go to years ago!
Yes. Me too when I lived in Franklin Park. I miss that place.
Been going there since the late 90s during my Rutgers days. Glad to see theyre still around. Was always a favorite of mine
Ripe tomatoes make a big difference- and those were super nice looking.
The best subs ever. I used to go there when I was in Rutgers in 1986. I still drive down to get one when I want a sub. Delicious. I hope you enjoyed it.
Growing up in the 50's and 60's I loved Oscar Meyer Bologna, mustard on white bread with potato chips crushed inside!! Oh, the memories, Melaney from SoCal
They have second location in Franklin, about 1hr and 15 from philly. A little bit closer than the Edison location. Used to get my lunch their all the time when I was lifeguarding over the summer
That’s the bettor shop too they always do me right portions
Excellent looking sub. Nice and clean, stays together and soft bread is a must.
I grew ip in Edison and Tastee Sub was a weekly occurance. I live out of state now, but whenever Im back home in Kersey, I make sure to stop by Tastee Sub.
My Hometown sub shop. Love Tastee Subs! Every time I go home I stop in!
Love that they’re doing their thing, clean, simple and delicious ☮️❤️🏆
Tastee Sub in Franklin Park was my go to. Honey Roasted turkey, with lettuce, tomato, extra onions with extra oil and vinegar and organo
You’re in my hometown area! Love Tastee Subs!❤
This looks Jersey Mike’s. Sandwich looks delicious 😊
Hey JL, the next time you're in Edison, NJ you Have to go to "Harold's NY Deli". And the pastrami sandwich is a MUST. One sandwich will feed roughly 7 heads!!
As a New York who has eaten there, all I have to say is 💯.
You’ll spend $40 on the one sandwich too.
@@LucidStorm128 $40 for a tower of meat that can feed four unless you're a bottomless pit.
yes!
I used to pass this place when I was in Edison Job Corps. If we didn’t use our weekend passes to go home we’d stay at the Hotel a little further up off the highway and get drunk. 🤣 We used to be deep at the train station. The good old days.
Tastee is not like it used to be. The bread is always good but they are stingy with the meat and toppings. The line would go out the door and around the building. Glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah, it looked a little thin. They used to be PhD. (Piled higher and deeper)
You need to do the extra meat option to get the full effect
up on the meat
@@tommy61nj78 : You didn't used to. C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas?
Till the day I die, the tuna sub/hoagie will always be my #1 choice and Italian #2... Thanks for the great video JL!! I'm definitely going to visit their shop 💯💯👍👍
Used to go there before the earth cooled. College days in the early 80s.
That sandwich looks fire. They had that Cherry Pepper relish 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lived around the block from Tastee! The best subs. Miss it!
I thought this was going to be normal, but when you added the chips I new he's a player😊
Another JL Jupiter classic video...
I click and like...then just imagine going to these wonderful places to get some delicious and tasty foods...it'd be great to have this deli
spot here in VA.
Keep being a blessing to us Mr. Jupiter 😊👍🏾
Back in the late 80s early 90s, I worked on Kilmer road at a place called childcraft and this was our Friday's lunch spot. Always think about them because they are the best. Live upstate NY now, nothing compares.
Tastee was me and my fathers favorite sub shop, and mine still, lines would be out the door and wrapping around the building! The bread is unmatched. The assembly line to make sandwich was quick and efficient to keep the line moving quick
I always get hungry watching your channel. That is one outstanding looking sandwich.
Many thanks and keep it coming.
As you can see that sandwich is made very well with a lot of great ingredients, that will fill you up the tuna sandwich is made to the right size so you can have a delicious taste and a great meal.
i friggin LOOOOVE TASTEE's ..every time my fam from the South comes up.. they head straight there.
I like when someone says “they” instead of “dey.” 😂I love it 🤣🤣
I love Tastee subs too!
I love the way they stacked and cut the sub (easy to manage), you can see the quality and execution. I visited a Subway recently and the last two employees I dealt with just didn’t grasp the concept of how to properly assemble the sub.
I am from Jersey originally and I grew up going to this sub shop since I was a kid. It's the best sub. I lived in many states throughout the country and I have yet to find a sub shop like tastee's sub shop. Whenever I come to Jersey to visit my family I make it a point to stop at this sub shop for my fix.
My dad grew up in Edison I love this place!!!
Everything looked YUMMY! 😋
Have a great week!
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
The bag the subs come in are the same ones that were used by Mama Rosa's Sub, pizza and chicken back in the days!
Love everything about this!! Old school is the way to go!
Just door dash from another location, and it was great! Affordable and fresh!
I grew up in Highland Park and had to have Tastee at least once a week growing up
So glad you made it out here JL, I grew up in Perth Amboy not far away if you’re into ethnic Spanish food come out here and just explore…
I just heard the guy ordered extra onions on his sandwich..my kinda guy❤
Tuna sub looking like a winner My emotions are going wild :)
Deep River chips on the sub. Pro move.
Born and raised in this area… Tastee is a true OG staple 🔥🔥🔥🔥
OG? 🤔
All Hail the late King NORT and our belove’ed TATSEE shops including TATSEE 3 - Lawrenceville,NJ. OP I love the way you put chips on your TASTEE- Pittsburgh style!
Love this place. Tastee is a little chain around the area with a few locations, but the Edison one is OG. Just subs and Mr. Subs are almost like them except they are more expensive and I like the bread from Tastee better.
tastee has always been amazing i lived next to one for my entire life
I’m jealous
❤❤❤❤🤣🤣🤣🤣My favorite spot every Saturday...
I grew up in Plainfield N.J and Tastee is always high quality.
I live in the neighboring town and never heard of this spot. Will be definitely checking it out!
Oh a tastee virgin, please go and check it out trust me you will not be disappointed.
Harold’s Deli in Edison is off the hook too
I love your show JL. Our daughter in law is Cambodian/Chinese. She has taught us to eat healthier, to appreciate seafood, to test the limits of spicy foods and to appreciate what this country offers us Americans. Again , LOVE 💕 your show my broh 👏🤘🙏🏼‼️‼️
One of the Best in NJ!!!
I'm here for it 😋 that sub looks Delicious!👀
I used to work in Edison and I make sure I make the drive to Tastee Sub at least once a month, IMO the best sub in the whole state.
Sizzler up the street was the goto spot too. My ex used to stuff fried chicken in her bag. 😂
Always a true watching you as well as your family. How was your boys actually missed you. If it's possible please have a minion videos one time maybe enjoy your holiday coming up😮
How did I miss this all those years of making deliveries in Edison. Must have passed it a couple hundred times. Looks a lot like the genuine Blimpie Best in Bayonne (but I wonder how it compares).
beautifully crafted sandwiches.
Tastee is one of the best.....there are a few good sub shops in NJ
This place is A1. One of thee best subs in Jersey. Don’t sleep.
Went there from 83 to 94! Awesome job, JL!!!
Love your channel! 💪🏼
Chips in the sandwich a staple for sure
Best place for a real sub went to middle school around the way St Matthew’s pepperoni and provolone and a tuna sub always extra oil and vinegar my favorites priceless memories
Delicious looking subs😊
That sub looks delicious, fresh, and quality!
Thanks JL. This place is the best. I used to have lunch there everyday when I worked in the area. We would also request catering for office meetings. Bringing back memories. Thanks for sharing Jupiter.
The classic chip on the sandwich, great video JL 🙌🏾👍🏽
You need to get to the legendary Italian delis in NJ for some high quality subs.
I go to the one in Franklin once a week for a turkey and American. Mayo and vinegar, gotta try the chips on the Sammy.
Excellent place I buy from place all time
It’s crazy how you end up around my stomping grounds in Philly/Jersey/Orlando. You also look just like my best friend. It’s wild how life works. Have a good day.
Great, classic NJ sub shop, but a traffic nightmare trying to get to the place. That intersection of Rte. 27 and Plainfield Ave. where Tastee Subs is located gets horribly backed up. Many times I waited and waited foe what seemed like forever, just to make a left turn into Tastee's parking lot...not good when you're hungry 😾. At least the sandwich was always worth the wait!
I live right around the corner from them...always consistent
Beautiful ❤️
Gotta give a recommendation to 302 Food Plug! Delaware group that opened up their own spot after running their own truck for years. I promise I'm not associated with them at all, I just love supporting the spots that make Delaware great! Cheers bro!
That’s my favorite sub shop. Their tuna sub is elite
sweet love little sub shops like this one
I used to eat their often for lunch, good sandwiches 😋.
That's my old stomping ground. The tomato is amazing. I miss that now that I'm in Georgia. Try White Rose as well which is not too far from there in Highland Park.
oh my god i miss tastee so much right now, this brought me back. i need it
I worked right next to this place and wanted to get this place so bad, place just looks amazing from the outside… so pissed I never tried it
Looks just like Jersey Mike's, my favorite.
1963 was the year I was born lol,and still moving on 😊the sandwich 🥪 looks awesome 👏 maybe one day I’ll go there to get some tasty 😋 sandwich 🥪 sub ❤😉🙏🤗!!! Thank you always for your great 👍 food videos, take care and stay safe love 💕 to your dear precious family 🥰😍😘🤗💗🌈☀️😁💐
I grew up by tastee sub shop 2 in somerset NJ. same subs. My favorite place of all time. Tastes like home. I was in NJ when you dropped this wasn’t in that area tho. Have to go next time.
It's a combination of 1, 2, and 3. Right. Thank you.😂😂😂
Tastee Sub and Old Man’s….you don’t even know!! RU Family where you at?
This is the spot (coming from a nj native)!
Tastee is the OG.
JL Jupiter the sandwich review king .
