- Enjoy the musical parody form Epcot's FOOD ROCKS at the Land Pavilion. FUD WRAPPER (yes, spelled fud with a macron over the u) hosts this "ALL-STAR Benefit for Good Nutrition". Part of My Disney Park Memories "Music Mondays". Filmed in the year 2001. Thanks for watching. Subscribe for weekly uploads.
I'm 38 years old and I still love this show. I wish we had both soarin and food rocks .
Thank you so much for making this video! I’m to young to ever see this live, but animatronics are my passion. This video is such good quality!
Thank you for watching and commenting.
The person who sang every bite you take is a REALLY good singer
It might be Jess Harnell, who also plays "Pita Gabriel", in this show, but is mostly known as Wakko Warner, in "Animaniacs".
Hi fiver is good too
Fud Wrapper is my favorite, he is so cute and cool and I especially like how he deals with Excess by literally pulling the plug on them. I wish Disney made merch of Fud Wrapper. ESPECIALLY A DOORABLE, WISHABLE, OR TSUM TSUM!
Yes, Disney should have made more collectibles. They did plush for the previous show "Kitchen Kabaret". I googled Food Rocks Disney and saw a runDisney picture with a runner in a Fud Wrapper costume.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well my favorites are Pita Gabriel, the Peach Boys, The refrigerator police, richard the pineapple and chubby chedder
Classic show! Recall this from my first ever visit to WDW in 1991. Thanks for the nostalgic reminder. Loved this show.
@@MCoats8 Great to hear that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I am neutral on Food Rocks’ retirement. This concert show, hosted by a rapper named Fūd Wrapper, featured contemporary pop tunes from the 1980s, and, if that’s not all, included a good moral about eating healthy. The attraction that replaced it was Soarin’, which I enjoy fondly, but it was possible for Food Rocks to stay.
*The U-tensils* is an American audio-animatronic pop-rock band formed during spring 1989 in Tampa, Florida. Their debut album was released in 1992, with "We'll Make It Count in the Kitchen" being their debut single.
*The Peach Boys* are a Canadian-American audio-animatronic rock band formed in 1991 in Orlando, Florida. All their songs are parodies of hits from the 1960's to 80's. This includes "Good Nutrition", a parody of "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys.
*Refrigerator Police* is a British-American audio-animatronic rock band formed in Kensington, England.
*The Excess* is a Canadian audio-animatronic rock band formed in Vancouver. They are considered by many as anti-nutrition activists.
*The Get-the-Point Sisters* are an American audio-animatronic girl group formed in 1988 in Portland, Oregon.
Thanks for all this information
I love this so much. Oh my gosh.
Excess were the first guitar band on their genre to utilise a prerecorded drum track in all of their songs. Also, all 3 members are endorsing Bernie Sandwich in this year's election.
I’ll never forget seeing this back in 1998
Fun fact the milk carton singing is from the original attraction here called Kitchen Kabaret
His name is Mr dairy good
They need to bring back this show
Yes, thanks for watching and commenting.
Maybe in a different pavilion soarin’ around the world is a great attraction
But I don’t want them to put it in the land pavilion because I’m not sure if this is a hot take but i do prefer soarin’
This was actually my favorite attraction as a kid. So much so that when I was little, I would go to epcot just for this.
@@dannygrau2983 Good to hear that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I remember “We Love Junk” very distinctly as a kid; in fact, it’s probably the thing I remember most about ‘90s Epcot
@janinestrahan4844 Glad you were able to see it before it went away. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Tooty fruity I'm Rooney cracks me up me up every time
I'm pretty sure I saw this as a little kid, or at least in passing while we were waiting in line for living with the land. I look to that section every time I visit Epcot expecting something almost all the time, but the fact that it was empty always confused me. Now that I see it, it seems vaguely familiar. emphasize the vaguely portion. very interesting
Thanks for watching and commenting.
So many memories! My mother (R.I.P.) loved the Chocolates song, Get to the Point Sisters, mine was the Refirgerator Police and of course the kick ass ending! :)
That's great. I'm glad you enjoyed watching, and thanks for sharing your story.
This video quality is amazing, it's a shame I never got to see this show ;-;
Coltonandgen Thank you, I used the best camcorder that I could afford at the time. Thanks for watching.
same
0:23 I don’t know why but I love this song!
Because everyone loves Queen
One of the oldest memories I have as a kid is this show...sad they closed it :(
Thanks for watching. That's why I started filming Disneyland rides in 95 and WDW in 2000. Thanks for commenting.
That spot is now where soarin around the world is located at
7:39 bRoCcOlI
man I wish I could have experience this show but I didn't exists when the ride was open but it was really cool
That's why I filmed whatever I could at Disneyland and World because they replace or cancel attractions. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 yeah wish they would return kitchen Margaret and food rocks back in wonders of life
Brings back memories
Great, thanks for watching.
I showed my parents this
They liked it :)
@@TheShowbizPizzaFan130 Great, thank you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
this attraction is pretty cute lmao even if its really cheesy
Yep, well said. Thanks for watching and commenting.
RIP Little Richard
Great songs and puns! But... I feel like this may have seriously been hurting for better animatronics... The Milk Carton from the original show that was in here is so far the best one...
Yeah, but keep in mind that this attraction was put together, in a few months.
i mean its gone
but i want to see a japanese version of the attraction
@@toilet0609 how about in Tokyo Disneyland
Nowhere near the quality of the Kitchen Kaberet but the songs are really cute
I know the whole point of this was to teach children about good nutrition but I was just there for the music as a kid 😂
Fun Music. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The One guy from the Excess looks a Little Bit like Eric cartman from Southpark.
This concert was the Milli Vanilli moment for The Excess.
Fun fact, did you know that the refrigerator police lead singer is a repurposed Mr. Dairy goods animatronic?
Always choose before you chew!!!!😂😂😂😂
3:59 eafee greed salad
Pretty catchy!
Thanks for watching. 😊
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 And nice close-ups, too!
@@elizabethalvarado8698 Thanks again. 😊
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 Come to think about it, I kinda think this show, and "Kitchen Kabaret", should be in Disneyland, California, so people can get a taste of history.
@@elizabethalvarado8698 That would be nice if they did. Thanks.
A Hip Food parody of the Country Bear Jamboree
More like a parody of Kitchen Kabaret
five nights at food rocks
It’s nutrition
The Beach boys robots the pair robot I saw a few days ago at a convention
4:10... Good character design on this one but should have been executed a little better... The form of the animatronic is a little flat. ;u;
Actually, a LOT of these are good character designs but the 3-dimensional execution seems not 3 dimensional enough...
4:01 Salad
Salad is the only way I would like it
🎉salad party🎉
😂
why was this taken away? its good
Disney removes attractions for new ones. Thanks for watching.
For sorin
It got removed to be replaced by Soarin'. Technically the queue is where the attraction used to be and I heard someone say the bathroom is where the stage used to be. I'm pretty sure the attraction wasn't super popular as time went on so it was replaced
Is this your production? If so how many times did you see the show to get all the angles/shots?
I think it was around 8 times just incase I missed something. Thanks for noticing and thanks for watching.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 Outstanding job! A well earned like and subscription from me!
@@mattgutberlet Thank you.
Besides Tone Loc who did the voice of Fun Wrapper, who did the voices of the other characters?
I'm not sure, but someone at Disney knows if they are good imitators or original artists.
Jess Harnell did the voice of Pita Gabriel.
Tone Loc was Fud Wrapper.
Little Richard voiced Richard
Neil Sedaka voiced Neil Moussaka
Chubby Checker voiced Chubby Cheddar
The Pointer Sisters voiced the Get the Point Sisters
Jess Harnell voiced Pita Gabriel
The rest are imitators
Wendell the fish was voiced by Cher
@@cameronharrell3739 that we are not sure of though
Unpopular opinion I prefer this over kitchen kabaret.
Visited Epcot a few times before Kitchen Kabaret closed in 94, but didn't see it. Wish I had made the time. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@mydisneyparkmemories1427 But don't get me wrong, kitchen kabaret was still cool. Fun memories, my friend, fun memories.
Always remember to choose before you chew. 😆
Does that “food rapper” have the same voice as the weird lizard from Fern Gully, or am I crazy?
Maybe, doubt Disney will say.
Emma he’s voiced Tone Loc
Yep!! Which makes it kind of funny since one wants to eat you, and one wants to be eaten...
Emma Also did chestnut
Good thing you recorded this in 2001. What camcorder do you record this show with? Also, this is the year I was born, which is a plus.
I used the latest (best I could afford in 2001) consumer grade SONY camcorder. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What year was this at Epcot? I remember this but can't remember how old I was 😂 I just remember my mum n dad wanting to sit down somewhere air conditioned for a bit so we went and watched this 😂
Thanks for watching. Opened in 1994, closed in 2004. Disney is notorious for changing attractions, that's why I filmed as much as I could. Then RUclips happened. Thanks for commenting.
I wonder how this idea came to be
Good question. Sorry that I haven't heard why. Thanks Dean Finder.
Dean Finder I wonder why RUclips doesn't notify me with all comments? Very sorry that I just now noticed your comment/question. Thanks. I think they used the Imagineers that had a funny way of looking at songs to adapt to nutrition.
My Disney Park Memories you broke the trend it’s Thanks for watching not thanks dean finder
Basically they wanted to close Kitchen Kabaret as it felt outdated. Micheal Eisner, the CEO at the time wanted something ‘hip’ and ‘trendy’, so he parodied popular songs. The transition was very quick from Kabaret- 2 months.
Hey MDPM who are the voice actors off all the characters and who are they being based off of
Sorry, I don't have that information, but thanks for watching.
My Disney Park Memories
Well do you know who are they being basses off of
@@fredyrodriguez8881 Beach Boys, The Police, Cher, Peter Gabriel, Cubby Checker, Niel Sedaka, and The Pointer Sistrrs.
My Disney Park Memories thanks man
My Disney Park Memories
what about the song that Fud Wrapper was singing
I wish this was still there. I like Kitchen Kabaret better but would have preferred Food Rocks over having Soarin' there
GuanRytheFantastic I missed out on Kitchen Kabaret. Disney will keep changing rides, that's why I filmed everything I could.
My favorite character is Chubby Chedder
@@skunkman9815 Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427don’t mention it
Back when carbs were good 😂
They still are just not singing
So why’d they take this out?
My Disney Park Memories I really like the circle of life show but I heard they’re now planning to be removing it as well. Everything has a beginning and an end. Same with Wishes and Happily Ever After.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 Wasn't Food Rocks replaced by Soarin? If I remember right, Circle of Life replaced a film called Symbiosis.
For Sorin
It was removed as Nestle dropped sponsorship, and lots of attractions close after sponsorship dropped.
Also, it was declining in Popularity.
Basically Nestles contract with The Land was about to run out so Nestle decided they would renew if they could replace an attraction. Which is why this was replaced with Soaring
Bad Disney Name puns and parody lyrics are an artform unto itself.....and this show ...Rocks. The animatronics kinda suck too, but in the best possible way......kinda reminds me of that Limousine attraction ? Damn, Disney should add a land of defunct attractions.......and you know, that land would WORK like HELl. r u listening Disney?
The Excess had the best song TBH.
Ikr
I super agree. This is my first time and I just like their HEVEE METARRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
While not a bad show in its own right, Food Rocks does really point up a lot of the shortcomings of that era, where an over emphasis on ephemerals in a desire to remain 'edgy' or relevant can overtake the message they are trying to put out there. I can see how the imagineers thought that going over exaggerated thought it might provide timelessnes, but to me these characterizations of the artists (and I can place all of them save the trio of 'excess) are painful
One of my favorite attractions. I was so disappointed that that took it away for Soarin’
I find Soarin’ disappointing overall. An entirely too long wait for a mediocre ride.
Yes, Disney does that with attractions. That's why I started to record them before they're gone. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 Thank you for recoding it. I miss Food Rocks and think if it often. It was nice to be able watch it again.
It brought back very good memories of watching with my kids when they were little. They are now 30 and 23. Lol
Thanks also for subscribing.
@@krab1791 I didn't get to record this attraction because it was ended before I purchased my first camcorder, but I think you might enjoy America Sings from Disneyland.
@@mydisneyparkmemories1427 I will have to make my way thru your catalog of videos. I’m sure there are a lot I will enjoy. But WDW is my stomping grounds. I’ve only been to Disneyland once. I’m on the east coast and at this point in time my oldest is a WDW cast member so no reason to travel all the way to CA.
What camera did you use?
It's been 22 years ago. I believe it was my old Sony 3 CCD. Best I could afford back then. Thanks for watching and commenting
This is cute
Don't mention this attraction to Jess Harnell, He'll get angry and go on a rant about how bad Food Rocks was.
