Well some of character parodies are sung by their real life inspirations: Tone Loc, Neil Sedaka, Little Richard, The Pointer Sisters, and Chubby Checker.
I was obsessed with this as a kid...so upset when it closed. Not to mention any time I hear "every breath you take" I sing the lyrics to this...my husband thinks I'm nuts.
BRING BACK FOOD ROCKS... I am 15 years old and I remember watching this EVERY time I went to Epcot. I know they have Soarin' now... I go to Disney almost every weekend so I'm aware that it was just to have something new and exciting added to The Land, but if they could put this somewhere else in The Land or even in the Welcome Center by The Universe of Energy then that would make me very happy... I miss this :(
I loved this when I was a kid and watching it now I still love it. I always had to go see this show every time we went. I was heartbroken when they replaced it with Soarin'. This was a big part of my childhood and growing up.
I remember this! Oh my god this has been driving me nuts.. I bring it up with my parents and they have no clue what I was talking about. I use to beg them to see this show every single time as a very young kid. Funny part is... I never really listened to the "message" or "meaning" I just really like the songs they parodied lol
If you didn't see this when you were a small little one, you won't get why some people love it so much... Going to this is one of my best childhood memories!
The good news is that the stage is still there! But... all the animatronics are gone:( next time your at epcot ask some cast members at the front desk of soarin if you can see the stage, its directly behind the wall that they stand infront of!
I was watching a video list of abandoned Disney attractions and this was on of them. After hearing that they parodied popular songs, I had to come and see if there was a video of them and I am so happy I found this. This is probably the most genius Disney Land has ever thought, it is a shame they abandoned it. I do not support the nefariousness of Disney but on the surface, they are inadvertently sending a good message to children which is far more than any evil deeds they may have in the background. The goodness will win in the end.
Thank you! So glad this will live on forever. My best friend and I loved this attraction. We would visit it several times each trip. Always made us laugh. In high school we loved to make up our own lyrics to songs, so this attraction really hit a note with us!
Pattie Boy I totally agree! I missed this show so much! I know it's not as great as the Soarin attraction, but I wish they had kept this somewhere in The Land. I remember going when I was early on in high school! Veggie veggie fruit fruit!!! :)
Im watching this video because i smelled somethinf that i had only ever smelled when i was at food rocks, so of course i had to watch it! Loved food rocks so much when i was younger!
The reason why Kitchen Kabaret changed into Food Rocks is because Epcot wanted to make something Modern since the 90’s came along. That’s also why Epcot renovated Journey Into Imagination.
I never got to see this, but I was reading information on EPCOT since I'm a huge Disney fan and like to read trivia. I've heard of almost all the attractions and shows and for some reason I never heard of "Food Rocks". I read the info and decided to look it up and I was laughing along with the lady in the audience since I got all the references (huge music fan when it comes to older music). It's a shame it's gone now.
I remember seeing this on my second trip to epcot at the Walt Disney world resort (it replaced kitchen cabaret which also had singing food) and it was awesome seeing food items sing songs that were similar to songs from the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's plus they taught me something about nutrition.
I remember this attraction vividly. I also remember being legit upset when they took it out. I obviously like Soarin more now, but at the time it was devastating.
I wouldn't know about the nostalgia behind 'Kitchen Kabaret' or even this, because I never even got to see either one. this does seem like it was pretty interesting in its day, though.
The other songs included: -Every Breath You Take (That's the song you thought was I'll Be Watching You) -Sledgehammer -Funky Cold Medina -It's In His Kiss -Tutti Fruity -Breaking Up is Hard to Do -The Twist -Respect The only original song was the song sung by Excess
I saw this I think the year before it closed. I was ten and didn't know most of the songs yet...it's cool coming back to it now and actually getting the jokes!
YOOOOO!! I never realized that Dave Matthews Band's Sledgehammer was in this show, I wondered why I loved that song when I heard it and I swear it has to be from this show being ingrained in my brain as a child.
We went on this once one years ago and never did it again we did not do Epcot that much as a kid. The great movie ride along with many other attractions we never did. We definitely did not do any of the coster except thunder mountain once when I wad like 13. My dad had a problem with his heart and the youngest sister had stunt growth so we limited on what we could do. Back in the early 1990 and1980s they did not have the fast passes at Disney.
This is one of those elusive things I have memories that felt like a dream. Despite all the rides I really enjoyed the atmosphere of sitting in this center. I wish there were places like this in every town, daily life would be more interesting. Not necessarily the animatronic food things though 😂
I used to watch this show every time we went to Disney. I went from the time I was about 2 til about 9 or 10. I used to jump around on the food on the carpet, smell the smell boxes and get so excited when the show started. I want Disney to bring it back. Soarin' is ok, but food rocks was much better. I would give anything if I could see the show live again.
DON'T TALK WATCH!!! DON'T TALK WATCH!!! YOU CAME HERE TO WATCH IT!!!! DON'T LIKE IT, WALK OURT!!!! WE STILL HAVE ALL YOU FUCKIN.....MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Between this and the Under New Management version of the Enchanted Tiki Room, it seems that for a while all audio animatronic shows at Disney World needed to be "relevant" in order to be successful. Makes you wonder if they ever considered turning the Country Bear Jamboree into the Punk Rock Bears Live In Concert. Tone Loc is made of win, but he's not saving this show. I mean, the PEACH BOYS? Seriously?
Did they have the same set as Kitchen Kabaret? Because it looks simelar to it. You Know, just look at a picture of the finale in Kabaret. Bonnie and Fud are in the same spot, Krackpots and Peach Boys, Hamm and Eggz and U-tensils, and Milky Way Stars and Refrigerator Police.
So let me try and guess what ones are the right ones. I know I'll get them right Pineapple - Lil' Richard (tutti frutti) Peach Boys - Beach Boys (Every breath you take) Fish - Cher (It's in his kiss (shoop shoop song) Wrapper - Tone Loc (Funky Cold Medina) Pitta Gabriel - Peter Gabriel (Sledgehammer) Chubby Chedda - Chubby Checker (The Twist) Chocolate - Aretha Franklin I haven't a clue what the others are apart from the beginning and ending which is Queen Bohemian Rhapsody lol
I thought these were the real songs when I was a child. Imagine my shock and amaze when I heard them as I grew up 😅
Just like when I found out Goofy Goober Rock was a parody
Didn't actually know Sweet Victory was an actual song either.
So Michael Eisner destroyed your life, welcome to the club.

Or better yet bring this back and make it into a TV show
My favorite air-conditioned hang after baking in 95 degree sun.
Eric Newhuis now we have Universe of Energy. Which in my opinion is better that this
And now we have not that@@mickeynerd17
That is a very cold sun. I thought it was thousands of degrees.
I remember seeing this with my mom during my first trip to Disney. She freaking loved it, mostly for the music.
the heavy metal baddies song is very catchy and can't get out of my head. no joke.
It was pretty good! And convincing...
Morgan Miracle yeah

I know aww man i still wish I seen this because is look so cool but to bad they got rid of it but why they got rid of it in the first place?🤔🎸
@@taylorhill6205 most likely more people going to different rides and shows at Epcot like low foot traffic and audiences

Man I feel old for remembering the version of this show before this version got an upgrade... lol. Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit.. Good times..
Eternaldarkness3166 Ditto
I loved Kitchen Kabaret but this one was catchier
Was there an upgrade after the version posted here?
No, this was the last version of this show, Soarin' replaced the whole area where this show use to be.
Could not find out why I remembered that song lol
Love all these parodies especially Chubby Checker's the Twist!
Idk why, but I'm getting a "Sausage Party" vibe off of this! Lmao
G1 Smokescreen right lol
Sausage Party except the food actually wants to be eaten.
Except this is so much better and cleaner.
@Ronan Tomosawa. I think it starts off with "We are legion."
Dude, the music for this was INCREDIBLE! If only the AA were better then it would have been a SMASH hit! I want the soundtrack for this now!
I think a lot of people took the excess song to heart back then xD
The lyrics for the bohemian song at the end xD
Priceless
I enjoyed this as a kid. Surprised to see so much dislike for it.
The dislikes were the people who loved the original version known as Kitchen Kabaret.
yeah, this is Soarin' now.
@@Eternaldarkness3166 pretty sure Awesome Planet took over it. At least I remember it being on the right side of The Land when you walk in

did you see kitchen kabaret or soarin?
Can't say that i have seen Soaring but i have on RUclips Seen the Kitchen Kabaret .
I like the Food Rocks Music
Food Rocks replaced Kitchen Kabaret. Food Rocks was closed and Sorin' took it's place in 2005. Food Rocks was located in The Land Pavillion.

I can’t believe they got Ton Loch to come back for thos
I know

Disney owns "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the rest of the Queen catalog.
Which explains why they use the original Queen backing track for this song.
matt k. -_-
What it was made by veggie mercury
Please bring this show back.

Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Beach Boys- Good Vibrations
Sting- I'll Be Watching You
Those are the ones I recognized.
I agree!
It's "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. Of course, Sting was the lead singer of The Police.
You didn't recognize Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" ??
The other songs included:
-Every Breath You Take (That's the song you thought was I'll Be Watching You)
-Sledgehammer
-Funky Cold Medina
-It's In His Kiss
-Tutti Fruity
-Breaking Up is Hard to Do
-The Twist
-Respect

this and the original Dream catcher were favorites at Epcot and I was very sad when they were dismanteled. Thanks for this memory post!

Fun fact the milk carton animatronic from kitchen kabaret was in food rocks as the lead singer of the refrigerator police

It closed in 2003 to make way for Soarin'.
They should bring back to Epcot! But this time they should replace the circle of life show so they could put food rocks in there.
Lessons:
Eat high fiber foods, vegetables, chicken and fish-they are nutritious.
Avoid sugar and fat.
Not completely true, actually - yes, you should eat nutritious food, but sugar and fat are actually fine to eat if it's in moderation.
Fat ok
Sugar bad
Sponsored by Nestlé :[
I wonder if they decided to model the get-the-point sisters after nestlè’s Candy bars
I thought I recognized Ton-Loc. Suddenly, the song "If I'm gonna eat somebody" never made more sense.
after leaving the theater there was always a snack stand.

I find it funny they left the stage and animatronics there.... Just putting up a wall between the queue and it.
It's ironic that it was brought to you by Nestle - a company with a lot of Junk food. Maybe, that's part of the reason they took it out.
You don't know all about Nestle. In school, we watched "Botteled Life" and had Nestle as theme in english education. This is only a small part.
Kraft should’ve sponsored this
Saw this many times when I was a kid!
I really enjoy the "Bohemian rhapsody " Song because I grew up listening to Freddie Mercury.
Bring it back
Great memories, thank you!
When i was 6 this was my favorite. i had a melt down wen it closed :(
This show always made me hungry.
Combination of a old school saturday morning psa and a something you would see at chuch e cheese.
This show is fucking dumb.
I love it...
Starting Bohemian Rhapsody with the hard rock minus the other parts is an affront to music and cheese graters everywhere
I loved the Refrigerator Police...

This was peak Epcot. It was insane, but memorable.
Disney should make a mashup of Kitchen Kabaret and Food rocks
This was my favorite Epcot show as a kid. Unpopular opinion I prefer this over kitchen kabaret.
this thing was so cool back in the day
Hey bohemian rhapsody the video is so far so great
I love this video, good job! I should talk about this on one of my upcoming Disney fan shows.
Weird Al would be... I want to say proud but conflicted is more likely.
they should make a collabaration show of kitchen cabaret and food rocks
I know right
Max Keene forgot to change accounts?
When was this filmed? The Food Rocks attraction closed down in 2004.

Pitta Gabriel - Peter Gabriel (Sledgehammer)
Chubby Chedda - Chubby Checker (The Twist)

+XTheVideoGamerGirlX Every Breath You Take is Police, not Beach Boys.
+imdb88 I know that, I got them mixed up when I wrote my comment.
It's a song made famous by Aretha Franklin, but here, they're voiced by the Pointer Sisters.
+XTheVideoGamerGirlX And I think the parody of The Beach Boys is a parody of "Good Vibrations."
