    Always great info beautiful Soror! While waiting for intake continue learning about the organization that you are interested in. Be certain you are joining for the right reasons. Liking, the chants, strolls, colors, etc. are not the best reasons. Look at the org's values, service, and mission and ask yourself if you're truly ready to uphold all of what will be asked of you. Remember, this is a LIFETIME commitment 😊

    Hello, I have some questions regarding grad chapters. If they cannot be answered, please let me know if they be answered in the prep courses:
    1. I'm concerned about sponsorship during Covid. Does the sponsor need to be within the chapter I want to join?
    2. Should I ask for the sponsorship once you start intake?
    3. How many recommendations would I need, and from whom (professional or people who are part of the sorority I'm interested in or does it matter if they are not members of the chapter I want to join, yet they are in a D9 sorority).
    I notice on some of the D9 sorority national and chapters websites, there is no info about intake, it just says "intake is invite only," and I don't find that to be helpful or inviting 😫😅. Just trying to understand the process, yet I understand that there is discretion, particularly around the sorority I want to join.

      Hi! A lot of these answers can be found in my grad chapter playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLXab-YcNqBvwIS3TcYH40hKqDPRbaRB0K. Sponsorship depends on the rules of the chapter/organization. My dos and don’ts video in the playlist is also helpful regarding how to approach members of grad chapter.

    How far back can Organizations go in looking at Community Service hours? In 2020, I had over 50+ hours, but in 2021, I have about 15. Will they look at 2020 and 2021 combined, or only count the year you're an interest?

    • @KelsTells
      @KelsTells  3 года назад +5

      It depends on the organization. They could be lenient on the timeline considering limitations from the pandemic, but I cannot say for sure. You can ask this question during your informal interest meeting.

    Your videos are truly valuable. Please continue making them. My situation is, I attend an online University it is fully accredited, and I am thinking joining the newly established sorority for student taking online classes. My desire however was and still is to be a member of the Divine Nine, and I do have my heart set in one in particular. The on line sorority is not NPHC. Would joining hurt my chances of being selected by the Divine Nine sorority later. I have about a year and a half till graduation, and plan to attempt participating in alumnae intake. KELS PLEASE TELL.

    • @KelsTells
      @KelsTells  2 года назад +1

      Hi there, thank you! My first question is why do you want to join a sorority? And what is the purpose of joining the online sorority if your true desire is to be part of the Divine 9? I recommend pursuing the organization that you truly want to join, but don't start your journey until you can answer my first question. And be honest with yourself. If you don't know how to answer the question, check out my video on doing your research; there's advice on how to figure it out. One thing is for certain, if you're accepted for application into an NPHC organization, you'll have to renounce the non-NPHC sorority if HQ requires it. So think about this before you make a decision.

      Thank you so much for this advice, it has really helped me put things in perspective. My reason for considering the online sorority is mainly for academic support. Going back to school at this age can be uncomfortable , for lack of a better word. Being surrounded by women, probably in my age group, pursuing the same goal as me seemed attractive. Making connections and being involved in an organization where I could make a difference, while being encouraged to be my personal best felt like a good Idea...kind of. Now, my daughter and I feed the homeless, and since where we live gets very cold in the winter, we have a ministry where we give away winter weather supplies. We do this out of our own pocket and we love it. Sharing this idea, and bringing other like minded women on board is another reason I considered the online sorority. The thing is, even with all of that, I do not want anything to hinder the opportunity for me to become a part, of the DIVINE Nine my heart is set on. ❤️ I do consider myself to be a woman of good character. Joining an organization, and taking an oath to be loyal to that organization is beautiful, and serious business. I would never want to denounce the letters I willing commited to. I would not want to bring shame or embarrassment to myself or the organization by doing so. Since my heart is somewhere else, I will patiently wait, until that door opens for me. Thank you Kels, I appreciate your wise counsel.

      I wanted to add, my reasons for wanting to join the Divine Nine my heart is set on, are different from the reasons I mentioned for the online sorority.

    • @KelsTells
      @KelsTells  2 года назад +1

      You should consider if you can do both. If the organization that you want to join does not allow dual membership, then you must choose. But don’t one for the sake of being able to join another

    It’s July now and the intake process will begin on September. I would love to ask a friend for a recommendation but I’m wondering about the letter format. Would it be possible that the chapter has guidelines or certain prompts or questions for that person? Or is it more of a general letter of recommendation meaning right now would be good to ask and I don’t have to wait for whatever the chapter may release? Thanks

      Check out my video on recommendation letters: ruclips.net/video/xgLh8Q2GZic/видео.html. I also have a video on ways to ask: ruclips.net/video/68gyaDimRdc/видео.html.
