Your comments on how much time can we commit to sorority were spot on! Almost verbatim, I heard the same response towards myself and other candidates this week. Appreciate your videos! 😀
I am now a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated! 💙🤍🕊 Thank you for your NPHC videos, whether undegrad or grad focused materials, they were so helpful to me.
I know im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
When you talked about time commitment I think that was a really good one because of course we don't want to make ourselves seem unavailable and not useful to the organization so I think wording it in that way would be good!
These videos regarding sorority interest and all things sorority related are incredibly helpful. I am interested in a sorority (Grad Chapter), and my main question was how to get started. I want to do as much researching in my own heart and soul, and research the organization before I roll up declaring interest. My husband is in a fraternity and he is of absolutely NO HELP, so I thank you for taking the time to share these nuggets.
As someone who is from Kappa Kappa Psi and in charge of recruitment and education process, one thing that will make a chapter raise their eyebrow when answering why you wanted to join is “I am a legacy” “I want to follow in the footsteps of my parents”. Okay?… So outside your family, why did YOU want to join? Also never ever say when you are wanting to join, become an officer or just at any point say “this would look good on my resume.” Oh? Just your resume? Not in becoming a better person? Or literally anything else? Yeah, you can find that somewhere else.
My RA is apart of your sorority (she’s in grad chapter though) actually and she asked me “Why are you interested?” Lord I got scared too quick lol. But I told her when I was talking to the undergrad chapter and the community service they do, it matches what I want to do with my life in some ways. (They work with a lot of kids and I want to work in a school with special needs kids. I’m also am a camp counselor) so to hear that made me feel even more comfortable.
Lol same, I had an RA and she was an AKA and she's the only person that knows which sorority I wanted to join and she sat me down and she was like "Why do you want to be an AKA?" and I didn't know what the fuck to say, LMAO. She gave me advice and everything I needed to say. I still talk to her til today she's amazing.
What if you say these like when you said how much can you commit to the chapter. Can you say I’m going to commit to the chapter on the best of my abilities between work and the chapter or what they just wouldn’t be interested in you once you say that just so you are making sure as you said before to be careful about the words you using out of the mouth @kelsTells
Question for you: Is being active on your interest Facebook page frowned upon. I don’t plan on commenting but is liking the page, liking post/pictures okay to do or should I refrain until after I join? Thank you for these super helpful videos!
I think it’s fine if you’re in undergrad. There’s a level of discretion to maintain so don’t do it too often, but you can engage in liking posts and pictures
KelsTells Last thing, you said for undergrad you think it’s fine.. would the same go for grad chapter? Lol that’s where my current interest is. I just want to make sure its not different.
Sooo is there any coming back from saying you can dedicate as much time as needed? This comment was made when specifically talking about going through the intake process. Is there hope of recovery or would you just be screwed by that point?
This happened during an informal part (I’m not really sure when the actual intake process starts). I was inquiring about the number of hours a week you could expect to dedicate to being on line if chosen. She responded I should do my research (I’ve researched so many things like crazy). I couldn’t find anything, panicked, told her I couldn’t find anything and then said I would dedicate as much time as needed to become a member. All I’ve seen is that it’s a very time intensive process. Nothing was said though about time spent after the intake process. During an interview do you think it would be okay to clarify the difference between the time you can dedicate during intake vs the amount of time you can dedicate regularly after? I get this runs the risk of seeming like all you care about is getting in and nothing about the work afterwards depending on how it’s presented
Sherdes Brown I wouldn’t recommend saying that you can dedicate all of your time at any point during your process, interest meeting or other because (realistically) no one can dedicate all of their time to anything. It can be used against you in the future if you say it. If you said that you can dedicate as much time as needed to become a member, then that’s what will be expected of you. Now, you can amend what you said if you’re eligible for interviews, but expect them to bring up what you previously stated.

Precious Uwaezuoke that’s what I figured. Grad chapter is fine too. You can be more open about your interest in grad chapter
KelsTells Thank you so much!! 🥰
Kells do you have an email I can’t watch you at ?
Sure. My email is always in the description box for inquiries: kelstells.all@gmail.com

If you said it, they’ll take your word for it especially if it was said during your process.
