    Military story... happens a lot. I'm in the military and I remember being in a major base overseas when I was 'chewed out' by a warrant officer in front of a group of his peers. I was only wearing the uniform which went under our body armour which doesn't have any rank insignia on it as that is on the armour itself. I waited patiently until he paused for breath and he was obviously confused as to why I wasn't intimidated by his tirade. He asked, rather forcefully, if I understood what he was saying. I did ask why he hadn't saluted me before speaking, at which point his (obviously more intelligent) colleagues started rapidly to leave the area. I still laugh at the look in his eyes when realisation dawned 😂

      I'd left the Army a couple of years when my nephew was getting married at the Naval base in Virginia. It was a cool day, so I wore my field jacket, with patches, rank, unit name and branch. As I walked into the venue for the wedding I noticed several officers milling about, that's when a young NCO came up to me, and started dressing me down for appropriating the valor of a real military serviceman. Apparently he thought having long hair, and a beard meant I couldn't wear my old uniform. But I surprised the poor boy, with my drill Sgt voice, "Stand down maggot, when I want your opinion I'll give it to you! With that I spun a perfect about face, and walked into the chapel. It wasn't more than a couple of minutes when a officer entered with the young NCO, and made him apologize. Seems the officer felt my reaction was definitely drill Sgt worthy, and highly memorable

    My late brother in law was in the US Army, stationed in Germany. Instead of being discharged after returning home, he opted to go out in Germany with his transport home provided afterwards. He enjoyed his “European vacation” then boarded a military ship to the US. He was sleeping in one morning when a self important minor officer roused him by pushing him out of his bunk. He got upset and told the officer to f-off. The officer started shouting at him, but my brother in law told him to stuff it and that he outranked the officer. The response was, “Oh yeah? What’s your rank?” When he grinned and replied “Civilian, a-hole,” the officer couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

      I've heard a lot of stories similar...worst one had to do with custody transfer involving a germany stationed officer with a kid, a summer and christmas custody schedule for the officer while the other parent had school, and there was someone from the US government (not sure where) that was an escort for the kid and a few others during the transfers, but they were using air force planes for it. Minor officer tried to pull rank on the escort.
      One of my friends is a former Army courier, and he had several stories about idiot officers trying to get information on what he was transporting when he wasn't allowed, and in one occasion ended up dealing with a mess involving an colonel from the Air Force trying to drag him into disciplinary actions over it when he had orders to shoot anyone who tries to take the package other than those pre-authorized...and he didn't even know what was in the case he'd been given to transport at the time

    Op's dad could've gone around town and told them that he was willing to spend this amount of money by living in the community through both the construction and through living expenses thereby having the community. Also making it clear in the community that they are alienating newcomers through social media. And then on top of it all taking the HOA to court for harassment. Also a great way to ingratiate yourself to a town is to fix the potholes for them if you have extra money.

  • @richewilson6394
    @richewilson6394 5 месяцев назад +8

    If they did that I was hoping that they would either have her isolated even more or they were going to charge her $200 for the disturbance every time that she would throw a tray. Cuz she's not only causing more work for the hospital employees but also causing a disturbance that's probably disrupting the hospital in some way both for the staff as well as any other patients admitted. Or threaten that she would be sued for emotional abuse to the staff.

    • @melkiorwiseman5234
      @melkiorwiseman5234 5 месяцев назад +2

      On this side of the world, I expect that first someone (probably head of nursing) would attempt to "reason with" the patient and when that failed, the patient would be told in no uncertain terms that the staff are doing HER a favour by bringing food to her, not the other way around, and if she stupidly wasted good food like that again, she'd get nothing until the next meal time. Either that, or they'd implement protcols for a patient refusing to eat, which would be far worse for the patient...

    • @richewilson6394
      @richewilson6394 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@melkiorwiseman5234 I think the doctors in hospital would get sued if they didn't give her food. But I would hope that they would have the legal right to have the patient sent in for a mental health evaluation.

    • @melkiorwiseman5234
      @melkiorwiseman5234 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@richewilson6394 "Suing" isn't that big a thing on this side of the world, but they'd certainly need to be able to establish beyond doubt, with witnesses, that the woman had refused the food which was offered, otherwise there could be other legal sanctions applied. And yes, mental health evaluation of the patient is one of the options available to the staff to protect themselves from liability. In fact, that would probably be a win for the hospital in either case: Either she's evaluated as sane, in which case they're protected because it's her decision not to eat the food, or she's evaluated as not sane and they then get to apply protocols used for patients who are not mentally competent in order to ensure she receives proper nutrition.

    A patient who is alert and oriented needs a talking to from the charge and/or administrative nurse. If that doesn't work then the a Dr. needs to. This is always something that is done with alert and oriented patients.

    Hospital food Karen story: I'd have told her after her knocking the first tray off if she did it again ALL she would get would be what the doctors had ordered, PERIOD! Then carried thru with it. I hope she got charged for the food she wasted.
    Chef story: When you are supposed to have a contract, READ IT!
    Recruit story: OP, recruits aren't issued their uniforms until AFTER they get to boot camp. They can literally be wearing anything. Length of hair doesn't matter either. You get your first regulation haircut at boot camp. So if you appear to be the right age, yeah, it's kind of easy to be mistaken for a recruit. Admittedly, the officers and enlisted at MEPS aren't there to win popularity contests, they are there to get the entrance process started and begin the change from civilian to military. Part of that process is to stop any nonsense going on with/from the new recruits.
    IT vs HR story: This sounds like a fairly solid case for wrongful termination. But given the way they seem to operate I wouldn't want to continue to work for the either.
    HOA story: Why I won't live in an HOA. Also why I won't live in New York.

    • @melkiorwiseman5234
      @melkiorwiseman5234 5 месяцев назад +1

      IT vs HR, on this side of the world, there's almost always a notice period required by law when someone's employment is terminated, and the company has to at least pay out that notice period even if the person doesn't work through the notice period. On top of that, if a person is found to have been unfairly terminated and they don't want to return to that workplace, they can get compensation on top of the payment for their notice period (or if they do want to return then they can be paid as though their employment never ceased and return to work, but as you pointed out, usually the former employee doesn't want to go back to what will probably now be a hostile workplace environment).

They were never happy with what they got. My mom was a polite Southern lady. If the nurses were going to get something for a patient, they'd ask her if she wanted the same thing. Kindness and thankfulness goes a long way. The OP was performing THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.

    Call all of the bigwigs antisemites for their activities, call out and sue the landowner who reneged on their signed deal.
    Paint the whole town with a really broad brush and at the end of the letter announce that you are willing to be friends with anyone who is willing to show that they aren’t a part of the towns antisemites.
    See how fast they backtrack.
    Call people out for their BS.
