I remember listening to this song when I was 18 and it really made me appreciate the moment and then 20 years later I could appreciate the song in it's entirety.
This song, in my opinion has stood the test of time. This song is applicable, no matter what age group you fall in. A musical composition that will ever pull on the heart string!
@@malikaihoon7337 Not a patch on Bob Seger, nowhere near as an emotional songwriter, and as for his music.Just listen to that stunning Guitar solo....Enough said, methinks.......
We mourn the passage of time. The loss of our strength as we age. What then does this teach us? The preciousness of life. The gift of endless promise that we alone control. The breath in your lungs, the sun on your skin standing straight against the wind for which no price can be paid. Savor it. Live it. Keep it. For when its gone........... God Bless Bob Seger and the preciousness of life.
I can't express enough how much I love this man and his music. His words say so much. He is and will always be so great. His music has so much meanings with his stories. He is and will always be the best. I just love Bob Seger and always will
I am 79 years old but once in my life I was a young U.S. Army infantry soldier deep in the jungles of the center highlands in Vietnam 68/69. The guys I served with along with myself were once like a rock. Hundred pond rucksacks aka backpack. They were so heavy that we would pack them full and lay back down on the backpack. Put are arms in each shoulder harness and then roll over on our stomachs then up on your knees and then standup. We were all rocks, and I am so proud I served with a bunch of guys who became brothers for life.
I was at this show. It was the 4th or 5th time I’d seen him and he got better with age. I was so excited to hear him play this and The Fire Inside as he hadn’t previously.
I bought my parents tickets to this show as their Christmas gift! Great seats. My Dad had always wanted to go see Bob Seger in concert. And I’m glad I made my Dads wish come true.
Just Brilliant.....Another Bob Seger Classic here, played superbly live, and SO much emotion in there, THEN that stunning slide Guitar solo takes it to another level, and as I said at the start of this comment....Just Brilliant.....
I saw him in his next to last tour at the Boston Garden. Absolutely amazing, started with "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" If you can listen to this incredible slide without tearing up, I feel sorry for you. God bless you, Bob.
In the early 80s in Biloxi Ms Ozzy came one night and Seger the next. I went to see Ozzy, he was great but my son grew up hearing of my regret of not seeing Bob Seger. 35 Years later I got to see him with my 21 year old son it was amazing
I am from Michigan and Bob seger is one of the greatest singers I ever heard I've seen him three times and about his age and I think he's the best thing. He should be so happy to have a great family and be a great man like he is cuz he takes care of everything that he should God bless you keep on rocking
🥀Glad to see you in Atlanta Ga. Powerful Song I love this song and this Man he's Amazing singer song writer talents beyond many other in the music industry🥀☝️🥀👍
Most definitely the best musical artist for me. The first item I ticked off my Bucket List was to see him, live. Did so in Denver, 1996. My 4th and final time, Sept. 28 in my hometown of SLC, Ut. The man is 74 years old and HE STILL HAS IT!
🖤🥀Excellent Song amazing lyrics, vocals and music! Bob Seger still looks amazing and sounds like he always have Phenomenal oh yeah it's that good🥀🖤✌🥀☝️
Seen Bob Seger in concert 8 times in 8 different states. He’s the best musician ever, a truly rock and roll legacy! Love you Bob Seger! Patty Caruso, Lake City, FL
Thanks for this! Never been in a position to see Seger live, with this in the set list. Rob McNelley kills it on the slide solo. Note for note like Vito
I saw Bob, a longtime favorite back at the Sock Hops and Lincoln Park Show, Back in about 07 on a Tuesday at Joe Luis in Detroit and two nights later at COBO. Maybe it was my, or the bands nostalgia , because the Thursday Show at COBO was twice as good!
Not to slight in any way the brilliant creator of that fantastic slide-guitar passage, the incomparable Rick Vito, but McNelley's tone here is even sweeter than the original. Bravo!
Saw Bob when I was a junior in high school. Year after live bullet was released. The now imploded Pontiac Silverdome. Sold out. That place held like 80,000 people for football games so they probably didn’t sell the.seats behind the stage so still…what’s that, like 65,000 people? The atmosphere was unreal. Home town crowd for Bob and the Silver Bullet Band. Been hooked ever since. Now I’m 60 and he’s still the best.
SAME HERE. I WAS AT EVERY CONCERT SINCE THE 70'S EXCEPT FOR HIS FINAL TOUR BUT I WATCHED A DOCUMENTARY AND LISTENED TO EVERY SINGLE SONG HE EVER SANG TILL 3AM. I JUST NEED TO BUY/FIND A TEE SHIRT AND A PROGRAM. JUST GIVE ME THAT OLE TIME ROCK N ROLL THE KINDA MUSIC JUST SOOTHES MY SOUL

I love his music, but would love to debate the political stuff. Yes, I'm still a Trump supporter. If I'm not dead in four I wonder what this country is going to look like? Forget all that. I love Bob Seger, and reflecting on his lyrics bring to tears often.

Like A Rock
Bob Seger
Album: Greatest Hits
Stood there boldly
Sweatin' in the sun
Felt like a million
Felt like number one
The height of summer
I'd never felt that strong
Like a rock
I was eighteen
Didn't have a care
Working for peanuts
Not a dime to spare
But I was lean and
Solid everywhere
Like a rock
My hands were steady
My eyes were clear and bright
My walk had purpose
My steps were quick and light
And I held firmly
To what I felt was right
Like a rock
Like a rock, I was strong as I could be
Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me
Like a rock, I was something to see
Like a rock
And I stood arrow straight
Unencumbered by the weight
Of all these hustlers and their schemes
I stood proud, I stood tall
High above it all
I still believed in my dreams
Twenty years now
Where'd they go?
Twenty years
I don't know
Sit and I wonder sometimes
Where they've gone
And sometimes late at night
When I'm bathed in the firelight
The moon comes callin' a ghostly white
And I recall
I recall
Like a rock. standin' arrow straight
Like a rock, chargin' from the gate
Like a rock, carryin' the weight
Like a rock
Like a rock, the sun upon my skin
Like a rock, hard against the wind
Like a rock, I see myself again
Like a rock
