In 2005-2006 I worked for a security company for the tv show Prison Break. When Robin shaves her head. I met Robin. I asked her if she wore a wig for her performance in the movie The Craft. She told me had to wear a wig for that movie. Robin is an amazing person and very kind. My boss for the security company I worked with went to high school with Robin in Chicago.
The director of _The Craft_ mentions the wig in both the audio commentary and the Making-Of documentary... (on the DVD edition, 20 years ago).
Yeah, there's an extended version of the movie that answers a few of the questions you asked about. Especially why Corey runs out on Rex Manning. In the extended cut, it's much more obvious that he's deliberately trying to turn her away because he realizes she'll regret it, but he gets with Gina because he knows she won't.
That puts an interesting spin on him 😮
@RhetoricalThrill They also cut out more of his scenes, he had a whole storyline himself and comes back to song at the party too and gets arrested.

Happy Rex Manning day! I adore Empire Records. Wonderful cast of young talent, crowned with Anthony Lapaglia and Debi Mazar (both are in So I Married An Axe Murderer as well 😉), great soundtrack of 90s jams, and a lot of fun lines/moments.
The subtext of Mark (Ethan Embry) being stoned all the time makes the movie much funnier to me, especially when the Gwar scene hits 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite movies. It always felt to me like it was the series finale of a long running tv show.
It kind of does have that feeling, like we’re dropped into an established story. There’s something really cozy about that to me

I loved Can't hardly wait. Have you seen Grease 2, with the guy who plays Rex Manning and Michele Pfeiffer! Its pretty good, you might see rex in a different light!
Never saw Grease 2 but I know my mom loves it
I've always taken her 180 turn as this. Since this was going to be her first time, and she thought Rex would be like the character he portrayed on his TV show, she thought it would be special and instead he acted like most music celebrities do with groupies, hence him saying "Rock n roll". It shattered her idea of what was going to happen and instead made her feel ashamed.
It made more sense after I finished, yeah. The pacing is a little weird, it was a big thing until it suddenly wasn’t 😂
I think that to just about any woman, there’s a pretty broad spectrum between being seduced with passion and being told to drop to your knees. Not only that, but done so in a very presumptuous and one sided gesture. She got to see the real Rex Manning. Good for her for leaving.

April 8th is the day Kurt Cobain was found dead, so this represents the day before the music died for the nineties kids so to speak. The day before most people knew what happened. Just an average day for kids working at a record store.

Check out two of this filmmaker Allan Moyle's other, better movies--PUMP UP THE VOLUME and TIMES SQUARE! Excellent soundtracks, but also great movies....especially PUMP UP THE VOLUME. Christian Slater's best performance!

I remember when I saw this, I didn't like it. But it's grown on me over the years---it's totally unrealistic, but yet....that's its charm!
Yeah, the soundtrack and performances carry it, the story is pretty weak, but it’s a darn good time anyway 😊
You're probably too young to pick up on it but Rex manning is supposed to be a parody of the 1970's teen heart-throbs like Lief Garret or the boys from the Partridge Family etc and a heavy dose of Eric Carmen's look from the 80's.

To be fair to Lucas..as short sighed as it was... He really did want to save the store. He knew Joe was miserable and would have hated working for Music Town..
His heart was certainly in the right place, but man, it could have waited until the next day 😂

Rex Manning is played by Maxwell Caufield.n he's still a good looking guy.. But check out Grease 2... He would have been a full in pin up boy of the era if the film had done well..
I never could bring myself to see Grease 2, I’ve heard some serious scorn over that movie 😂
@@RhetoricalThrill I actually just watched it again recently . It's been years.. And. The scorn is well deserved. But that movie pretty much was his first huge role and he never got much more . Luckily Michelle Pfeiffer came out unscathed...

No. No it didn't happen for me. I thought it almost did when I had a friends group centered around hacky sack but then teen drama split that group right up in about a year. No one is really anyone's true friend. At this point in my adult life I have started to think that a couple of generations now have been raised on the romanticized idea of what a decent friend circle could be like if you are a certain small percentile of people to cover the null hypothesis and then the creative slash alternative people like this group portrayed here, some of them end up being writers and decided they would use their creativity to write the very social support they wish they had (mostly from watching these romanticized idealizations,) needed, and never really knew to try and find some solace or closure. Anyway, thanks for watching one of my 90s faves. Even though it always leaves a weird taste in my brain afterward. Like Mallrats and SubUrbia do to me. Good flicks, weird 90s kid triggers about growing up I guess. Cheers.
Oh, Mallrats 💜 my hands down favorite of the Kevin Smith movies, which is ironic since it got messed with so much by the studio 😂

I am SO GLAD someone else watches this movie and calls out that AJ character for being a self-centered douche-bag. In fact most of the characters in this movie are unlikable but he's just the worst in my opinion.
He has such main character syndrome but this is an ensemble and he’s not even close to being interesting 😂
