    The Orange Alpine is the big travel enduro bike of the Orange range. It's the type of bike designed for the Alps or trips to the downhill park, and this can sometimes mean it feels a little too much bike on more tame, local trails. With this in mind, Orange set out to develop an Alpine that will still handle those trips to the Alps but manages to be lighter, more agile and efficient for the rest of your riding. Meet the all-new Orange Alpine Evo!

    I don't normally like lots of random graphics on my bikes but I am digging the geo-splatter effect. Do you know if these are the new standard for the range or is it just a one off for this launch edition colour-way?
    I still think that is too much travel for 90% of people, mind you. As an Orange Four owner I'd go with the Five Evo all day long. It's more fun being under biked than over biked.

    • @singletrack
      @singletrack  2 года назад

      I (Andi) love the Four it was a bike I wish I had bought. The Five Evo is a really good modern update on the classic Four and I enjoyed that a lot too. I suppose it all depends where you live and usually ride. In the Peaks either Evo would be great day to day, but if your trails aren't as chunky then the Five Evo might make more sense and it can still handle really tough stuff.

    Hi can I ask how tall you are and what your inside leg is. I am looking to get one but no one near me has or can get a demo. I’m 5”11 with a 32 inside leg so was looking at the large, but it’s very long. Much longer than a large Bronson for example which I currently ride. How did you find the large frame. Thanks Colin.

      Also interested in this, I am 6ft with a 34 inside leg. Stuck between a large and XL.
      The large is 50mm longer and the XL 70mm longer than my current zesty..
      Hopefully you can advise on how you felt the sizing was.. cheers

      @@greg1528 Greg I bought the large and it’s plenty roomy. I’m about the same as you leg and height wise. I run it with a 35mm stem and a 170 dropper. I got it with the cane creek shock upgrade and it’s just perfect. Bike handles so much better than my old Bronson and with the extra length is so stable. You can really whip it about too. I’ve been riding it all winter and I’ve been impressed. Got it I’m Matt Cyan blue too which is lush. One thing I did have to upgrade was my bike carrier. The extra length of the wheelbase means it’s almost too long for some older racks.

      @@ColinP46 thanks for the info Colin, I think the large would be okay for me also! Enjoy the new rig! I have the new Thule pro ride 598, if it doesn’t fit that then I can put it in the van👍🏼

      @@greg1528 No worries. The 598 should be fine. What surprised me was it being a longer rig than my mates new mixed wheel Bronson in large. Even with the extra inches on the 29er front end my alpine is longer. Demo one of you can.

    The reach on the size small is 458mm. The reach on the small 327 is 421mm. Why are trail bike sooooo long thease days?

    • @singletrack
      @singletrack  2 года назад

      Worry less about reach and more about top tube length. As bikes get slacker at the front and steeper at the seat tube the reach can be quite long without increasing the overall TT length by much or at all.

    • @bedsidecabinet1
      @bedsidecabinet1 2 года назад +1

      @@singletrack Seat tube angle is irrelevant when standing up, as is top tube length.

    • @fiatfixie4344
      @fiatfixie4344 2 года назад

      Modern bikes are designed with dropper seat posts in mind. The idea being when you get to that steep decent you want the bike stretched out and that front wheel further out in front of you. That way you don't go ass over elbows and the bike doesn't turn into a bucking bronco over root and rock gardens at speed. Also gravity junkies aren't known for their love of climbing and interval work. Steep seat angles make that part more palatable for them. So, for many this design philosophy is a win win.

    • @bedsidecabinet1
      @bedsidecabinet1 2 года назад

      @@fiatfixie4344 so why are most brands downhill bikes shorter in reach than their trail/enduro bikes? Look at the bikes the current top two enduro guys are riding.

      @@singletrack reach, with steeper seat tube and slacker headtube, gets shorter not longer. As it gets shorter you have to use longer top tube to compensate. So how exactly do one must worry more about top tube if it doesn't change at all as you state? Thank you for your response.
      oh forget it, i saw what you mean. Thanks for the insight

    I have no clue how that squiggly and wrinkled piece of metal that are almost wrapped around the lower part of the seat tube got through quality control. It looks terrible. Like what the hell...
