If headlines came out on the 1st of April of '54 that someone put hardware in orbit, people would definitely think it was a joke ... until the 2nd came out and N9SA didn't retract the statement.
I just found this series and I'm loving it so far! Is there any way we could see your kOS script for launch? I'm having trouble cooking one up for sounding rockets so they stage properly. I'm assuming you're doing it based on fuel remaining in the stage?
A simple example would be "When stage:fuelType < 5 then { Stage. }" fuelType is any kind of fuel in the game, and 5 is how much fuel that will be left when you want the script to stage again, in this instance a quick hotstage. Feel free to join my discord! I've got my current kOS scripts there if you'd like to take a look (:
I don't mind quick saving and quick loading if my intentions are to still be serious but just have fun. I like using revert instead of the simulation mod anyway, I think maybe the hard part is just finding a good game setting that is hard but still giving just enough money overhead to fail a couple missions and not worry about reverting.
I use the simulation mod in free mode as an extension of the editor basically. Otherwise I like to play in the same way. So far the balance feels good (:
Just discovered and subscribed. I will start RO/RSS/RP-1 soon. One (dumb) question: how do you run kOS code on tiny rockets? Is there a size-tunable kOS module?
This seriers is just perfect., although I'd like to say that you can use mechjeb for controlling your rocket, might've gotten you to orbit on the April 1st launch
pointing RCS backward hurts prograde because they have a lower efficiency, could use less RCS fuel and more main engine fuel by the same amount and get more prograde
If I remember correctly, having the RCS where they are on this spacecraft; when the thrusters aren't angled back a bit changing attitude was more difficult. But you're definitely right about less efficiency
Hey nice video, just one question, with the RD-100 engines I thought they were ground ignition only, in RP-0 anyway, but it looks like you have one on your second stage? I have only just started in RP-1 so maybe it changed.
@@N9GamingOfficial This is good news, I'm just about to move beyond sounding rockets and I'd noticed that the AJ-10 was deeper in the tech tree so I was wondering how I was going to aim for orbital whilst relying solely on aerobees, not a prospect I was happy with, thanks!
If you want another option, my less beefy but less expensive system also runs the game buttery smooth at 1440p or "I can't believe it's not butter!"y smooth at 4k: CPU: AMD R5 2600 GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700XT RAM: 16GB 3200MHz If you're using a wackload of mods like with RP-1, always install KSP on a solid state drive if you can, it'll make startup go from 15 minutes down to 3 to 6 minutes compared to a harddrive.
In kos, you can make a "boot" script. In the VAB you make KOS open the boot script on launch and then boot script opens the spiro 6 script. Without touching it. Quicker than having to type in kos on the pad 😅
I really really like your channel, your way to record and you Voice is so sexy hahahahahah congratulations Put in your game spacex parts to use in our tech tree some day :) (tundra parts mod)
your ksp seems weird. first off you are using sutopilot for your launches? idk about that one but. your textures are different from anything i have ever seen past alpha. your NAv ball markings look totally different from reg ksp. the nav ball blu color is much much darker blue than regular ksp.
Normal Kerbal: Orbit on the third launch, nice work!
RO: Orbit on the third episode?! i couldn't do that!

Indeed! xD
1954 news: "scientists put a satellite on orbit!"
1954 average civilian: "what the f**k is an orbit?"
Nicely done. Down to the wire!
A liiiiiiiiittle but of a close call, I was getting pretty nervous haha
I really like where this is going, keep on the good work! 👍
Thanks! I plan on much more to come! (:
Another awesome video, was a very close call for the program.
Oh for sure haha, thank you! (:
Damn just found your series, very cool. Subbed !
Welcome to the channel!
The RD-100 was a methanol/LOX engine derived from the engine used in the German A4 rocket. It was used in the R-2 IRBM.
Really happy, that you did this series!
Just found out about you're channel, i love it, great work

@@N9GamingOfficial Awesome! Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!
Great rocket! I am trying to get into orbit for the first time in RP-1 and I was wondering where you put the avionics in your rocket?
I tend to place avionics near the top of the stage/craft if that helps!

Welcome!! kOS, MechJeb, and KER are all integrated into Probes and Capsules in RO/RP1

I agree! But I enjoy having kOS control the ascent too much ;)

Oh god I forgot I tried flying that aerobee thing XD

Yes that is in fact something I noticed in RP-0 as well! It seems RP-1 allows in flight ignition, funny I never noticed...

Space flechette 👌
Never mind. Space flechette was abandoned :(
Your RP1 seems to run smooth, did you install it manually or through CKAN? What're your specs if you don't mind me asking?
I used CKAN for the majority of mods yes! My specs: GTX 1080, i7 7700 Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz, 32 GB RAM, running on SSDs
If you want another option, my less beefy but less expensive system also runs the game buttery smooth at 1440p or "I can't believe it's not butter!"y smooth at 4k:

I think the reason why The second satellite upper stage is I think you stage too early and the atmosphere started tugging on it
Yeah that is indeed what happened, with the few seconds before second stage gimbal engages (thanks avionics) it does not like to go straight!

This I am fully aware of now! My kOS knowledge has grown since these videos, still not perfect but better!
@@N9GamingOfficial I thought I might be late to the party 😂 I saw that you had released 1.7.3 so I'm binging on these for now
@@ryancarter3565 Yes! 1.7.3 has just begun!
nice
This sounding rocket looks oddly like a Aggregat Rocket...
I suppose it does!
Can you make a guide on making orbital rockets in realism overhaul
Hmm not out of the question, but heres a guide which already exists! github.com/KSP-RO/RealismOverhaul/wiki/First-RO-Rocket

Why thank you ;) I'll look into adding those parts!
How do you fuel up on the launchpad?
The launch clamps pump fuel resources, though keep in mind this is an exploit/cheat in regards to KCT mass limit balance, and I no longer do this
how do I pump the fuel in through the ambilicul cord?
Launch Clamps or MLP Platforms should provide fuel pumping!
I love Every video with your voice in it! I need to go back and watch the other series, but your voice isn't in it!
The RP-1 series will primarily have voice overs (:

Self written coding for rocket launches and nbody physics, it's just another way to play. (:
