When you were in Toronto, you should’ve also tried some Jamaican food because Toronto has a huge Jamaican and Chinese population. Source: I’m a Jamaican Chinese person who’s been in Toronto for 50 years
Dont be swayed by the food you just tried, this specific restaurant doesn't necessarily represent "authentic jamaican food". Im sure if you had the same dishes in Jamaica or at a "real Jamaican spot" your experience may have been different. I cooked Oxtail for many Chinese natives and they all loved the flavors and also said its better than traditional Chinese Oxtail. That said, it depends where you go and what you are comparing it to. I would definitely challenge grand pa at a oxtail challenge. 😅 much love! Keep the videos coming. This is my first visit to your page! You guys make my day! Unfortunately my maternal grandpa died when my mom was a child and I lost my paternal one in 2015 these videos makes me feel closer to them! ❤️
Love that you try different foods. Food always depends on where you buy it... not all JA cook the same & certainly not all restaurants... from the looks alone, the food look dry & the oxtail need gravy. **Patties are not fried, they're baked Chinese Grandpa- you are the g.o.a.t for trying the foods and we thank you for your ratings 😀
No! Not all patties are baked. When I was a youth going to high school in Port Antonio, my friends and I used to buy fried patties, and they were delicious - a different twist if you can't get beef kidney fat (suet) to use in the crust!?
You guys are so sweet, thanks for trying our food. The only thing that looked authentic there is the sodas, everything else do not looked pleasant in our Jamaican eyes, the patty is big no, the oxtail worse. Please come to Jamaica to get the authenticity.
I’m a Jamaican, not every Jamaican restaurant can cook the true Jamaican way. SMH. You need to take grandpa to the island and let him experience the true authentic Jamaican food.
Where did you get the food cause that patty looks nothing like the patties we have at home. The jerk chicken probably doesn't taste authentic, it doesn't look appealing at all. Not because it's jerked means it must be burnt like that.
I wouldn't be surprise if Chinese ancestors brought oxtail to the Jamaica. Your Grandma, had he come to the island instead of the USA, might well have enhanced the recipe. :)
The Jamaican style of making oxtail has Chinese influence from what I remember Which is taken from Hong Shao Rou 红烧肉 aka Chinese stew pork. This is because Jamaica has a large Chinese migrant population who have lived on the island for generations that shared their culture and foods through intermarriage and the blending of the jamaican society

yeah, the foods they seem to have access to aren't the best quality in the videos i've seen. maybe it's where they're located.
That's the same thing I was saying. It doesn't look like those real dishes at all. Chef is not on point They look white

Chinese Grandpa is much more so the GOAT than any of those others you mentioned. He is awesome. God Bless him.
Need to go to 🇯🇲 for the real Jamaican food. I can look at the food and know it’s not the best of Jamaica. Who agree?
