I need this right now! My left and right traps hurt so bad. I think I got it from lifting heavy wooden benches on my shoulder 2 days ago. The pain also goes down my lower back.

a nice MET trick is to do the stretch shown for ^ traps, but stretch away from the side and get the client to push towards the side your hand is on. you need to hold their head with your other hand and use a gentle force against theirs.

is a little distracting and making it
    hard to hear you talk...

Thank you, thank you....I LOVE your videos...practical, realistic and effective techniques. I am so grateful you chose to share your knowledge and experience. Your videos are so well done and your knowledge evident. I would ask one question which might be answered with another video?? How exactly or what practically do you do after you roll onto a trigger point "knot"? I have been sitting on them under a model of induration until the client's reported pain drops to below a 3/10 pain rating and then either doing a "flushing" stoke or using a muscle energy type stretch to increase awareness of the "tone" in that muscle (as well as stretching it). Thank you again for your amazing generosity in sharing your knowledge.

Putting left hand across to the right shoulder of patients and asking patient to rotate her head towards manuver's left hand makes trapeziums naturally stretch.

I need like the hardest strongest hands to pull these traps up and outward, they have been like rocks for years and i havent found a person that could clamp them, i went to a homedepot and used spring handled clamps to latch onto them to get them to release and stretch,

How do I communicate these stretches to/with my clients? Especially the one where you are lifting the opposite shoulder off the table. I'm still in massage school but I feel like one of my issues is encorporating these type of stretches. I always want to try them but I'm never sure how to explain the stretch. Also, a lot of the clients I work on are middle age and older, so I guess I worry that I'm going to hurt them or that maybe their body can't stretch/move in that particular way.

hey allyson, my tip would be at ROM to see if they can move thier upper torso when doing TX/ LX rotation and CX all ROM movements. If they can do those without severe pain, they can do the stretches. Sometimes starting with stretches is a great idea as well.
