    Teaming is fantastic.... so long as you’re completely independent owner operator, then you & your teammate will be making real revenue and not the scraps/pennies on the dollar that the mega carrier pay you😑 when any new driver starts out, it’s to your benefit to run solo, you’ve got to figure out EVERYTHING on your own from your backing skills to your trip planning it’s all a huge learning curve for a newbie/ teaming works way better for husband and wife teams, period! The goal is to get your own company going, solo or team! I lasted 2 years as a company driver/ if I didn’t get into my own Rig there’s no way I could’ve stayed a company driver / that was 2 decades ago and I still see guys out here that have remained company ( unreal ) I bumped into one of my old trainers from around my year and a half mark ( at Crete, what a shit carrier ) he was amazed that I had my own Rig 🤣 it’s NOT rocket science people

    So basically the only benefit is a bit more cash. All the other perks..solitude, freedom, peace & quiet are gone. The whole point I want to get into trucking in the first place..

    Trucking is a humbling profession, teams moreso. At first, the bad teammate could be me. I'll learn. Teams seems to be right for my temperament.

    Ok here's the nitty and gritty about my time teaming. I have been with a mentor for over 5 weeks with the last 3 weeks team driving. Fast pace, lots of great places to see, have met many cool people. Husbands and wives who team and make anywhere from, $24,000 to $30,000 a month so they say. My mentor makes over$3000 a week when he drives with a team. You will never get a good night's sleep. Truck rocks and rolls, motor noise is hell. Is it worth the money? YES, Maybe 1 year max the, get out.

    Great video...very helpful, thank you. Question: In your experience, do team drivers have the opportunity for more home time? If they run hard for 7-10 days can they get home for 4-5 then get back to it? Thanks again.

    My boyfriend and I are considering Team OTR Driving. We would be entering with very little to no experience. On the other hand Joey can drive anything, he has been pulling a non cdl 8 foot by 20 foot trailer with crew max pickup truck around New York City for almost 3 years now. We are looking to run 5000-6000 miles a week. We don't really have a home so very little home time wouldn't affect us anyway.We see on some trucking websites that driver teams can average $130,000-$180,000+ a year. Is that even possible? We want to run long and hard and are not afraid to work, hope to make at least 8k a month together and be out in 6 years. Are there any companies that you can recommend for teams that want to run far and hard?

      Crst hires team but you won't make too much. You can hop to other carriers like mohawk, FedEx ,walmart, prime, werner

      Read my comment above. Yes the money is there but you and your boyfriend need to commit to the job. Do for 1 year then. Take a break. Living in a truck changes you for the worst but the money is very good.

    I am seriously considering becoming a truck driver for many reasons. My one hesitation is that I do not do well with driving manual transmission.... the coordination is just not there. But, I think I’m going to go for it anyway. Do you have any suggestions on where to attend driving school? I am in western New York/Buffalo area, and I would prefer long-haul.

    • @kenburkard
      @kenburkard 3 года назад

      When I started 2 decades ago I only ever drove a manual ( in any of my cars ) none of that matters/ over time it’s gets easier. Driving a car stick shift is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than a big rig so you don’t necessarily gain any ground coming in from driving automatics or a stick in a car! It’s a different skill that you’ll learn over time / the biggest hurdle is learning to back up and parking! - also, this guy talking about team driving, he knows less than nothing 🤣 avoid advice from “company jockeys” watch videos from owner operators who have been out here for as long as this guys been alive!

  • @letd1995

    Don’t work teams. You won’t ever get good sleep with truck moving, you can still make a lot of money solo. Shop around for a good company and Fock the big carriers
