Fellow cat owner here to confirm: the second cat is always the dumbest little goblin compared to their older sibling. My firstborn is pure elegance who refuses to drink water unless we give her an ice cube to keep cool while the second is, at least as far as we know, a failed Area 51 experiment with the brainpower of a goldfish.
My first cat is extraordinarily outgoing and cuddly and chill, and wants to be petted and adored. He’s a total scavenger, and will steal your food. He hasn’t met a cat food he doesn’t like, and he enjoys almost every human he meets. I have infinite cat-duvet-cuddle selfies on my phone. He’s my cuddlemonster and I love him. My second cat is chirpy, inquisitive, and constantly in the way. He doesn’t like being held or cuddled, and is completely terrified of every human who isn’t me or my husband, but he will happily sit on us so long as we don’t make him feel trapped. He only likes one variety of one brand of cat food - it has to be the extra fancy type made with recognizable chunks of chicken breast in broth. However, he will stick his whole face in any unattended beverage, and has been known to go for toilet or bath water if the opportunity arises. It’s seriously routine here to have baths interrupted by a chubby ginger cat who perches precariously on the edge of the bath and laps at the human-flavored water. He’s a freak and I love him.

I don't think I've ever owned a particularly dumb cat. My family always had them in pairs and I feel like they'd alternate between street smarts and human smarts. Either they had really good survival skills or they learnt how best to get the humans to do it for them 😂

Ikr Koshekh somehow just looks like a cat and you almost have to look closely to realize he's bald since he's very smooth for a hairless cat, Kasper looks more like a sphinx cat than Koshekh who's the actual sphinx cat lol.
My older cat is a literal genius. I've taught him more tricks than your average dog knows, and he picks them up from anywhere to one for easy, two to three for medium, to three to five for really advanced tricks training sessions. It's nuts. He taught HIMSELF how to flush the toilet after seeing me do it TWICE. He's absurdly smart and he KNOWS it, and he wants you to KNOW he knows it. Meanwhile my younger one still hasn't figured out that the cleaning brush is not in fact out for his blood. And I love them both more than life itself.
What's funny is their appearance matches their personalities, Koshekh looks elegant, like an elf turned cat, while Kasper has the face of a goldfish mixed with a pug puppy. Their personalities match the looks perfectly.
Owner of two Devon Rexes here! Just wanted to tell you that they go through a molting cycle as kittens. First, they’re born fuzzy. After a couple months, they molt (aka go goblin mode) and run around in their little birthday suit anywhere from 6 months to a year, but they usually keep the face, tail and paw hair like your boy has. The photos you’re finding online are of kittens who haven’t molted their baby coats yet, because the age they do it at varies. After finishing their goblin days, they sprout the signature curly coat, but they almost always keep a bald forehead, neck and belly. Some are a little thinner coated than others, but very few are bald. One of mine is smart, but the one who was born stupid stayed stupid, so that won’t be changing.
I think it's like a rite of passage into kitty parenting to have one clever cat and one dumbass cat. My older girl Ysera is the smartest gremlin and I swear she understands the concept of criminal behaviour and has decided it's fun, and my younger girl Meme Queen has a singular braincell that is dedicated only to either Get Food or Snuggle With Mother. Everything else (including her own tail) is a scary confusing mystery to her. Congrats on Goblin #2!!

I've got one of each! My older (barely adult) black one thinks she's human is always harassing us for pets, follows us into the bathroom, and sits on shoulders, the younger black one (he's fluffy) just chills, and his (bio) brother is orange, both in the brain and the fur.

There’s a consensus that if you have 2 cats, the first born will be graceful, sophisticated and intelligent. A true gentle-cat. And the second child will be a hot uncoordinated mess. My two kitties fit that profile to a T and so do yours! And we love them so much for it.
I feel like I have been cheated out of this experience 😂 the older one appears a regal, sophisticated being but is really intensely dumb with no thoughts behind his eyes, the younger seems to be vaguely intelligent but with the friendliness of a dog. She loves everyone, all cats, all humans, and even doesn’t mind dogs and will cause chaos in her attempts to reach her goals. Even learn how to open doors. Needless to say, I’m more inclined to the opposite view
My kitties, Celerity and Andersen, are bio siblings but they are rescues and we don't know which was born first. Celerity is definitely the smart one though, she knows how to open cabinets and will wait till you aren't looking then steal food off of your plate, plus she's a master of parkour. And Andersen is just constantly hungry.
I would normally say ‘the lights are on but nobody’s home’ but the lights aren’t even on at this point, and I think the ‘home’ in this metaphor wasn’t even built.
I feel you when it comes to Kasper's lack of sentience, my wife and my have a tuxedo domestic shorthair named Gomez, and holy crap. He's the definition of "himbo", he's big, loving and his head is full of rocks.
It's very fitting that Koshekh is the 'smart' one that acts like a little human because in canon Koshekh from Night Vale is actually a guy who was cursed by a witch to be trapped in a cat's body.

I totally feel you with having two cats, it's a totally different experience for each. My older cat is a territorial, intelligent, lazy chonk who loves to yell. She just yells all the time, no matter what mood she's in. The younger cat is very skinny and has long hair, so she looks like a mix of a skunk and a ferret. She has a tiny meow, is scared of everything, and is an absolute moron. It's just so interesting seeing how similar and different pets can be even in the same circumstances
For feeding them if they do start stealing each others food, my roommate has these bowls for her cats where the bowls are coded to each of the cat's microchips and they only open when the right cat sticks their head in. so you can portion their foods out and one cat can't get into the others.

I have those for my cats. The kitten isn't chipped yet, but she will be next week. I've still had to go to silly lengths to keep the kitten out of the adult cat's food. You'd think I've never fed her once, she's so desperate for food.
I remember seeing these on Rachel and Jun's channel since one of their cats would try to eat all the food since he was a former stray and he didn't know/trust that he would be fed regularly now that he had a home.
if your cat is ratty though, these don't work. my cat broke into it after 30 minutes of having it out. He's SUPER food driven though and will undo zippers and get into tupperware containers to get at food though. He's the exception though, you'll know best for your cats.
My two dogs have the exact same relationship (clever manipulative elder prince and energetic himbo baby) and can confirm after a year with both, it is a beautiful dynamic

For the fur, know that it’s normal for a Rex to fluctuate in coat thickness. Since he’s newly homed, it’s likely he’s undernourished. He’ll probably fill in as he gets used to staying in one place and getting regular meals. It’s also normal for a Rex to go through periods with their fur where it’s very thick or very thin. My lil paradoxical demon loses the most fur just before winter and fills out again by Spring. In the meantime, I recommend subjecting him to enforced sweatering.

I have never clicked faster on any video 😂 I recently got my 6 year old cat his own pair of kittens, and rather than the big brother dynamic I expected, he is for sure their doting adoptive father. I just look into his eyes and can see the weight of parenthood, he takes his responsibility VERY seriously. He even lays on the floor to play with them like he’s just worked a 9 hour shift. I’m so proud of my little father. 😂
The only thing I want to caution is that sometimes that exaggerated pear shape can be caused by parasites, like tapeworms. I'm sure you're already planning on it, but when he's old enough make sure he's medicated for it!

Was looking at cat breeds that are "hypoallergenic" as someone with mild cat allergies, and ended up coming a crossed a breed called Cornish Rex, and the kittens reminded me of Kasper. So he might be a Cornish Rex rather than a Devon Rex; still a Rex breed tho, and both are wonderful cats ❤

These two reminds me of my little babies. They were both born from the same litter, but they look like they were born from separate litters. One is a mostly white calico and the other is a siamese mix. And the calico, she has all the brains. She is so smart and smol. Her brother who is big and beautiful (they both are beautiful), but he is just sooo dumb. I have two other cats and a dog. My one cat will constantly swat and hiss at him and he just keeps trying to get attention from her and when you look into his eyes, there is nothing going on behind those eyes. But he is so full of love.
there's very good reasons that introductions are such a thing with cats - a bad introduction could lead to such a bad relationship that the cats never get along. that said, your grumpy ol' prince did a lot better than most cats. like, immensely better. its one of those things that really is 'judge by your cat's personality' rather than 'follow these points to the letter.' some cats need a lot longer, several weeks of getting used to each others smells, etc. others can meet each other and immediately be cool. it varies so wildly depending on their personalities.
One cat acquisition can be well-researched, but never two. Such is the way of the cat-owner. My second cat was carefully researched to be the most sturdy, well-adjusted, social, patient sister possible to our first cat. She's very affectionate and intelligent, and was raised from kittenhood by an experienced foster, in a house with 2 dogs and 4 other cats. Our first cat? A tiny potato-gremlin we found screaming under a bush, at night, in coyote habitat. She tried to follow us home and my husband named her immediately, so that was that. She has a profound trauma response to cars, eats so fast she throws up if we give her more than a teaspoon of food at a time, and didn't know wet food was edible until the second cat taught her. The point is, both of my cats are perfect.
Same-ish story. Got our first 2 cats after being catless for a few years (they had all passed after living long lives) and they were the last of the litter and I felt bad for even thinking of separating them. The three kittens on the other hand? Norie broke into our basement during a nor'easter last year and we spotted and caught his siblings (a boy & girl) the next month. And eventually we got so attached we kept them all.
When we moved our eldest cat to where we currently live, my younger cats would hiss at him and I still say well I yell the hey part, "Hey, be nice." The binguses are so freakin cute!!
I have two cats that don’t get along (mostly due to our first cat being independent and the second cat adopting us) and despite that they still manage to share the same space together. Also we usually say our first cat is the emo and the second is the dumb blonde, so seeing Kasper referred to as the jock kinda made me laugh.
The experience introducing Kasper to the older cat was very similar to my experience introducing a kitten to an older cat. My younger cat was scared for about a day, but after that the younger one was instigating constant play fighting, to the point where we would keep them apart so the older one had time to himself.
"It's just elevator music in there." I FEEL THAT. My best friend's cat is also very stupid. Nothing upstairs. He's lovely, just dumb. And he's not allowed outside at all because he doesn't know how to live. Seriously. He'll jump on a shelf up in the air and not know how to get down. He'll just cry until she gets him down. So when she lived in a house, she had to block off the top of the cabinets to avoid that from happening. We have SIX cats in my house and they're all actually pretty smart and inquisitive, so I don't know what kind of lot we drew there. Not one of them is "head empty."

There’s a consensus that if you have 2 cats, the first born will be graceful, sophisticated and intelligent. A true gentle-cat. And the second child will be a hot uncoordinated mess. My two kitties fit that profile to a T and so do yours! And we love them so much for it.
I feel like I have been cheated out of this experience 😂 the older one appears a regal, sophisticated being but is really intensely dumb with no thoughts behind his eyes, the younger seems to be vaguely intelligent but with the friendliness of a dog. She loves everyone, all cats, all humans, and even doesn’t mind dogs and will cause chaos in her attempts to reach her goals. Even learn how to open doors. Needless to say, I’m more inclined to the opposite view
My older cat is the stupid one, but he was once the younger cat in the house with a distinguished cat.
The exception is barn cats they are all socially stupid and very smart in every other way

My kitties, Celerity and Andersen, are bio siblings but they are rescues and we don't know which was born first. Celerity is definitely the smart one though, she knows how to open cabinets and will wait till you aren't looking then steal food off of your plate, plus she's a master of parkour. And Andersen is just constantly hungry.

I feel you when it comes to Kasper's lack of sentience, my wife and my have a tuxedo domestic shorthair named Gomez, and holy crap. He's the definition of "himbo", he's big, loving and his head is full of rocks.
It's very fitting that Koshekh is the 'smart' one that acts like a little human because in canon Koshekh from Night Vale is actually a guy who was cursed by a witch to be trapped in a cat's body.

It was only revealed to the podcast listeners almost 2 years later with an offhand comment about a babysitter, and since then they've gradually revealed bits about him in episodes. The liveshow recording also includes the secret, but again that's paywalled so a large chunk of listeners had the whole "wait,, a SON??" experience.

I totally feel you with having two cats, it's a totally different experience for each. My older cat is a territorial, intelligent, lazy chonk who loves to yell. She just yells all the time, no matter what mood she's in. The younger cat is very skinny and has long hair, so she looks like a mix of a skunk and a ferret. She has a tiny meow, is scared of everything, and is an absolute moron. It's just so interesting seeing how similar and different pets can be even in the same circumstances
Kasper is wonderful, I look forward to seeing him achieve full himbo in the future

For feeding them if they do start stealing each others food, my roommate has these bowls for her cats where the bowls are coded to each of the cat's microchips and they only open when the right cat sticks their head in. so you can portion their foods out and one cat can't get into the others.

I have those for my cats. The kitten isn't chipped yet, but she will be next week. I've still had to go to silly lengths to keep the kitten out of the adult cat's food. You'd think I've never fed her once, she's so desperate for food.
I remember seeing these on Rachel and Jun's channel since one of their cats would try to eat all the food since he was a former stray and he didn't know/trust that he would be fed regularly now that he had a home.
if your cat is ratty though, these don't work. my cat broke into it after 30 minutes of having it out. He's SUPER food driven though and will undo zippers and get into tupperware containers to get at food though. He's the exception though, you'll know best for your cats.
You can really look in his silly little eyes and tell that there's absolutely nothing in there, I love that for him.
My two dogs have the exact same relationship (clever manipulative elder prince and energetic himbo baby) and can confirm after a year with both, it is a beautiful dynamic

Been dreaming of the day when I'm allowed to have cats again (my apartment doesn't allow pets), so right now living vicariously through Strange Aeons and her scrungly binguses. For the fur, know that it’s normal for a Rex to fluctuate in coat thickness. Since he’s newly homed, it’s likely he’s undernourished. He’ll probably fill in as he gets used to staying in one place and getting regular meals.
It’s also normal for a Rex to go through periods with their fur where it’s very thick or very thin. My lil paradoxical demon loses the most fur just before winter and fills out again by Spring. In the meantime, I recommend subjecting him to enforced sweatering.

I have never clicked faster on any video 😂 I recently got my 6 year old cat his own pair of kittens, and rather than the big brother dynamic I expected, he is for sure their doting adoptive father. I just look into his eyes and can see the weight of parenthood, he takes his responsibility VERY seriously. He even lays on the floor to play with them like he’s just worked a 9 hour shift. I’m so proud of my little father. 😂
The only thing I want to caution is that sometimes that exaggerated pear shape can be caused by parasites, like tapeworms. I'm sure you're already planning on it, but when he's old enough make sure he's medicated for it!

Was looking at cat breeds that are "hypoallergenic" as someone with mild cat allergies, and ended up coming a crossed a breed called Cornish Rex, and the kittens reminded me of Kasper. So he might be a Cornish Rex rather than a Devon Rex; still a Rex breed tho, and both are wonderful cats ❤

These two reminds me of my little babies. They were both born from the same litter, but they look like they were born from separate litters. One is a mostly white calico and the other is a siamese mix. And the calico, she has all the brains. She is so smart and smol. Her brother who is big and beautiful (they both are beautiful), but he is just sooo dumb. I have two other cats and a dog. My one cat will constantly swat and hiss at him and he just keeps trying to get attention from her and when you look into his eyes, there is nothing going on behind those eyes. But he is so full of love.

there's very good reasons that introductions are such a thing with cats - a bad introduction could lead to such a bad relationship that the cats never get along.
that said, your grumpy ol' prince did a lot better than most cats. like, immensely better. its one of those things that really is 'judge by your cat's personality' rather than 'follow these points to the letter.' some cats need a lot longer, several weeks of getting used to each others smells, etc. others can meet each other and immediately be cool. it varies so wildly depending on their personalities.
One cat acquisition can be well-researched, but never two. Such is the way of the cat-owner.
My second cat was carefully researched to be the most sturdy, well-adjusted, social, patient sister possible to our first cat. She's very affectionate and intelligent, and was raised from kittenhood by an experienced foster, in a house with 2 dogs and 4 other cats.
Our first cat? A tiny potato-gremlin we found screaming under a bush, at night, in coyote habitat. She tried to follow us home and my husband named her immediately, so that was that. She has a profound trauma response to cars, eats so fast she throws up if we give her more than a teaspoon of food at a time, and didn't know wet food was edible until the second cat taught her.
The point is, both of my cats are perfect.
Same-ish story. Got our first 2 cats after being catless for a few years (they had all passed after living long lives) and they were the last of the litter and I felt bad for even thinking of separating them.
The three kittens on the other hand? Norie broke into our basement during a nor'easter last year and we spotted and caught his siblings (a boy & girl) the next month. And eventually we got so attached we kept them all.
When we moved our eldest cat to where we currently live, my younger cats would hiss at him and I still say well I yell the hey part, "Hey, be nice." The binguses are so freakin cute!!

I have two cats that don’t get along (mostly due to our first cat being independent and the second cat adopting us) and despite that they still manage to share the same space together. Also we usually say our first cat is the emo and the second is the dumb blonde, so seeing Kasper referred to as the jock kinda made me laugh.
Bingusing 2: Electric Bingaloo
The experience introducing Kasper to the older cat was very similar to my experience introducing a kitten to an older cat. My younger cat was scared for about a day, but after that the younger one was instigating constant play fighting, to the point where we would keep them apart so the older one had time to himself.
I too have one clever, smart kitkat and one absolute himbo, and they are both perfect.

I FEEL THAT. My best friend's cat is also very stupid. Nothing upstairs. He's lovely, just dumb. And he's not allowed outside at all because he doesn't know how to live. Seriously. He'll jump on a shelf up in the air and not know how to get down. He'll just cry until she gets him down. So when she lived in a house, she had to block off the top of the cabinets to avoid that from happening.
We have SIX cats in my house and they're all actually pretty smart and inquisitive, so I don't know what kind of lot we drew there. Not one of them is "head empty."

lmao my dogs are exacly the same. harper is an evil genius that constantly needs to be held like a little baby (she's 55 lbs) and hugo is absoluely a himbo he's a huge lab and has the utmost respect for women. instead of playing fetch, harper jus waits for hugo to bring toys back and then takes them from him. we went for alliteration names as well!
