The expressions on Ambers face when a song hits her just right is priceless. America was a great band from my childhood and they are still great songs.
Agreed! Amber sways back and forth while Jay’s head moves in circles. Y’all are well on the way to being musicologists. I watch many great reaction channels but y’all are by far my faves. I love you both. 💋✌🏼❤️🎶
I was looking for this in the comments. My older brother was looking through his 45 collection and very little me had donned the sleeve of that one with a smiley sticker.
Former America Original Band Member "Dan Peek" was the lead singer and co-Writer of this big hit (Lonely People). He co-wrote it with Catherine Peek. Dan Peek went on to become a Contemporary Christenl Singer before his death in 2011 at the age of 60.
Their entire greatest hits compilation is outstanding and amazing... one of the very best "sing-along" albums ever recorded. I have so many great memories of partying in college with my friends belting out these songs - epic!
Two thumbs up to that! Though I enjoy so many of their songs, "Daisy Jane" has an emotional impact on me that no other tune of theirs quite does. Beautiful and sincere.
In the car again with my sister's, windows down, hand out in the breeze. You folks keep this Grandma young. You may get older but going back in time with music and memories is forever young. Thank you again kiddos. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Lonely People is sung by Dan Peek who left America pretty early on. Drinking and Drugs. He had a wake up call when his house burned down with alll his wordly possessions and he realized that none of that stuff really mattered. He spent the rest of his life singing Christian music. He died a few years ago.
Seen lots of America suggestions in your comments and the comments of other reactors. Never once have I seen one for Rainbow Song! You'll both love it, but Amber in particular will think she's died and gone to heaven when she hears the amazing fade-out sax solo which leaves you wanting more every listen! 💚
Dan Peeks voice is so sweet and clear. This was rewritten as a gospel song with the chorus saying dont give up until you give your heart to Jesus Christ...
This was written by Dan Peek, who along with Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley, was one of the three original members of America. Many of Peek's compositions show a very spiritual and searching side and "Lonely People," a call for the lonely and despairing to seek life, is one of those songs and easily his best known.
The late great actor/comedian Phil Hartman was a graphic artist before his career in show business. One of his designs was the album cover of History: America's Greatest Hits, featured in your video.
America and Lonely People peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of March 8, 1975. The rest of the top 10 for that week: 1) Have You Never Been Mellow - Olivia Newton-John 2) Black Water - The Doobie Brothers 3) My Eyes Adored You - Frankie Valli 4) Lady Marmalade - LaBelle 5) Lonely People - America 6) Lady - Styx 7) Best Of My Love - Eagles 8) Lovin' You - Minnie Riperton 9) Pick Up The Pieces - Average White Band 10) Can't Get It Out Of My Head - Electric Light Orchestra
To me: there are some pieces of music that I hear that make me pause on the brim of tears and be SO THANKFUL that I am FORTUNATE enough that there a people on this planet that are talented enough to persuade my soul to be moved and DRINK IT ALL IN!! We are SO, SO LUCKY!! Thanks, ya'll, for this one! This is a GREAT TUNE!! HUGS!! P.S. I 'magine your Mama also told you, too: "CAN'T never COULD"....just like my Mama did!!
In D.C. growing up this was one of the songs they played right B4 the station went "OFF THE AIR" for the night. And Brother U are right this song is too short, But then again so is Life. BeEverWonderful
I feel so blessed that my parents loved listening to music. Grew up hearing music at home or in the car ... I loved music so much that i became a wedding/party DJ from age 17 for over 25 years ....
This was released on 1974 when I was a young teen. A great song with lyrics that are encouraging and positive. Maybe I've missed it, but where is that in today's music? Be blessed ❤❤
Dan Peek, who sang this in this recording pasted away in 2011. However, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are still performing. AND They still sound this beautiful live now. Check out some live shows that they've done recently.
I definitely love "I Need You" but my all-time favorite America song is a bit more obscure... from the Harbor album, "Sergeant Darkness" - mesmerizing.
i remember being involved in bringing them to play a gig at Harlow (Essex) Tech before they hit the big time, sometime between late 1970 and winter of 1971. at the time Crosby Stills and Co were huge, so these guys went down a storm. i think Horse With No Name was part of their set, but wouldn't swear to it, but beautiful harmonies. Much around the same period we got Lindisfarne to play, another great band for harmonies, and we had a drinking session afterwards with them in the Harlow Playhouse Theatre, situated a few hundred metres away from the Tech. they enjoyed it so much that they managed to arrange to play the following night in the theatre itself.
Absolutely nothing wrong with being optimistic, Amber. A person must accept what is real, but optimism gets us through tough times. I tell people I see the real world through rose-colored glasses. Kasey Kasem used to end his show with, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
Those whisky and cigar times with great music is your way Jay; of getting out of your head for a few minutes (those cigars are killers though). As a nurse I had to add that. Just have one slow whisky with great music. Love you guys. Amber what is your way of escaping your worries.
Amber, I’m right there with you! I adore them, they always make me smile when I listen to them. “Sister Goldenhair” “Ventura Highway” “Tin Man” Ugh!! They all just make you smile!! ❤❤❤
Sandman, I need you. Saw them in summer of 75 at a free concert at our local park. Town of about 60,000. 20 mile east of Pittsburgh. Aerosmith played there in 74. Never another concert. We had a great mayor at that time.
Saw America in concert last year! They still sound incredible! Such talent! That was a bucket list item I got to check off the list. I loved every minute of it!!
I love America. All their songs to me are hits as far as I'm concerned. My favorite from them is "You can do magic" and "Ventura highway" That song always remind me of when I lived in California because I have been on Ventura highway!
I absolutely adore watching Amber react to the higher register instrument solos and duets in a particular song, that I know intimately, but she hasn't heard. Knowing what's coming and seeing her beautiful, spiritual, emotional responses. Cheers
You have to see a movie from the early 80's "The last unicorn", all the music was writen and played by these guys of America. Starring a very young Mr imposible missions, by the way. Greetings from Cuba.
Amber is the best seat dancer I have ever seen. America has so many lyrical, tender songs. I always forget how many until I cycle back to them again. Their greatest hits were one of the first albums I ever bought myself.
Great song choice! Seems like you've done a lot of America, but there's still more to get to. I love their classic 70s era, and I loooove their comeback early 80s hit "You Can Do Magic." I think it was a fine effort to bring the band into the 80s era and sound.
im 61 yrs old, nearly everyone thats meant the most to me, friendships i valued the most , family that ive lost track off over time getting caught up in day to day until day to day begame yrs . now im divorced over 20 yrs ,last series relationship was 8 yrs ago. at times can be lonely in a room full of people that i know. so i just keep on going day to day.
Love means everything in our world, to know love...to give and receive love....is the greatest of gifts we as humans can have in our life. The song has always made me smile, and appreciate my one love my wife..everything is possible when you have that balance of love in your day. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶
You are both right- you’re never ready for this song to end! A few good ones you haven’t done yet are Daisy Jane, Don’t Cross the River, Only in Your Heart.
I've been in a stadium full of people and still felt lonely. I resonated with Amber tonight, as America's lyrics flowed by, capturing points in time that may or may not be present tense. What we do with those feelings and revelations is what makes us. ❤
Honestly I really think this is becoming all to common. Alone in a crowd, detached, with only superfluous connections over social media being a weak thread connecting us.
The expressions on Ambers face when a song hits her just right is priceless. America was a great band from my childhood and they are still great songs.
She is a sweetheart. You know what she’s feeling. It shows.
Agreed! Amber sways back and forth while Jay’s head moves in circles. Y’all are well on the way to being musicologists. I watch many great reaction channels but y’all are by far my faves. I love you both. 💋✌🏼❤️🎶
The song is already beautiful, but her reactions are so joyful to watch!
Amber is awesome. So smart too. Just gets it every time.
Wow so true 😮
"Don't give up till you drink from the silver cup and ride that highway in the sky."
Such a great message of hope.
"Never know ,until you try..."
...possibly the best ' life advice '...ever.
“Tin Man”, “Daisy Jane”, “You Can Do Magic”, “Sandman”.
America was a hit machine and really great songwriters.
Good suggestions! Also "Only In Your Heart"
still i like the Last Unicorn soundtrack the most
Sister Golden hair, Don't cross the river...
Another great America song is "I need you". This takes me back to seeing them in concert in the mid-70s.
Definitely!!!
I was looking for this in the comments. My older brother was looking through his 45 collection and very little me had donned the sleeve of that one with a smiley sticker.
Yea saw them July of 75
Such a beautiful song. I have probably heard it a thousand times, but it never gets old.
Former America Original Band Member "Dan Peek" was the lead singer and co-Writer of this big hit (Lonely People). He co-wrote it with Catherine Peek. Dan Peek went on to become a Contemporary Christenl Singer before his death in 2011 at the age of 60.
Another terrific song by America that everyone seems to overlook : "Daisy Jane". 😄
I don't understand why they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It's almost a badge of honor to not be in it.
@@DerekDominoes Yep You are correct no need to be in that JOKE place
That’s why to me an Ohioan is the Hall of shame!
Because they never sold thier souls✌️❤️🙏 👊
Because the RRHoF hates rock?
America is one of the best bands of all time.
In the car again with my sister's, windows down, hand out in the breeze. You folks keep this Grandma young. You may get older but going back in time with music and memories is forever young. Thank you again kiddos. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Why does no one say Tin Man!? Come on now! That song is Iconic!!
I would say it!
....if I only had a heart..😁💜
Kidding aside, it's an incredible song..
But Oz never gave nothing to the tin man, that he didn't already have.
Tim man is truly a great song! They have so many great songs and there isn't one song on their greatest hits album that I don't love!
Yes ! Tin Man
Thanks, I know have that song in my head…I love it though
Lonely People is sung by Dan Peek who left America pretty early on. Drinking and Drugs. He had a wake up call when his house burned down with alll his wordly possessions and he realized that none of that stuff really mattered. He spent the rest of his life singing Christian music. Most people concentrate on the destination. You have to enjoy the journey.❤
Amen
Don't mention Journey, they only ever made songs better than this.
Dan Peek wrote this song in response to the Beatles, a positive response at that. RIP Dan Peek
Amber and Jordan- You both had BEAUTIFUL reactions to a BEAUTIFUL song!
Seen lots of America suggestions in your comments and the comments of other reactors. Never once have I seen one for Rainbow Song! You'll both love it, but Amber in particular will think she's died and gone to heaven when she hears the amazing fade-out sax solo which leaves you wanting more every listen! 💚

This one was written as a response to The Beatles, Eleanore Rigby. I love how one song can inspire another.
ROB and AMBER !!!! >>> I need you is the best song America has. Come on!!! It is about true love. Come on guys!
The late great actor/comedian Phil Hartman was a graphic artist before his career in show business. One of his designs was the album cover of History: America's Greatest Hits, featured in your video.
America was a great band, every song is so good! 👏👏👏♥️♥️🌺

Pretty awesome top 10!!😊🥰✌️
Some of those they have done already.
Nothing like the 70’s
All monumental songs! What a time for music. Glad to have been a teen at that time. We truly had the best music to be our life’s soundtrack.
What an awesome variety 👏!! The seventies was gloriously diverse!
This reminds so much of my youth. Always loved America.
me too. 🥰
Dan Peek was the lead vocalist. He and his wife wrote the song, then when he went solo he rewrote it and released it as a Contemporary Christian song.
Amen, to that✝️🙏🏻
If I had a $1 for every time this song has helped me through life, I would be a very rich man.
Tin man !!! Fully agree.
Sister golden hair.
You can do màgic.
Isn't it odd how the right song at the right time can change your perspective about a situation.
You are a rich man because you’ve made it through life
This song has one of the very best instrumental breaks in all of pop music ! .. Those harmonica and piano solos are absolutely PERFECT ❤

Thank you, Amber. You're a beautiful soul.
“Woman Tonight” & “ Today’s The Day” are my two favorites from them.....💯🤙🏽😎
America, the beautiful, timeless, heartfelt and not a bad song band.
Thank you folks. Those were some good tears I shed from the memories of this song of so long ago, so long.
We love you as you are Amber! Jay and Amber give me so much joy! Thanks guys
First album I ever bought...America - History. still puts me in a good mood 40+ years later.
You both rock!! But I have such a crush on Amber!! Such a beautiful woman who loves music so much!!!❤❤❤
America, easy listening….. definitely one of my favorites from my childhood
I feel so blessed that my parents loved listening to music. Grew up hearing music at home or in the car ... I loved music so much that i became a wedding/party DJ from age 17 for over 25 years ....
a favorite of mine since i was a kid and this was the early seventies. just loved this band.
Our boy Jay wants to hear banjo music! (Amber not so much?) The Stampeders, "Sweet City Woman"
They've done it.
@@kevinwalker9924 I missed it! I'll have to find it. Thanks!
America is SO under-rated, even now. They are amazing in concert now, even without Dan. One of my favorite bands.
This was released on 1974 when I was a young teen. A great song with lyrics that are encouraging and positive. Maybe I've missed it, but where is that in today's music?
Be blessed ❤❤
Such a short song but still one of my favorites from America. "You'll never know until you try."
Dan Peek, who sang this in this recording pasted away in 2011. However, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are still performing. AND They still sound this beautiful live now. Check out some live shows that they've done recently.
The live version of this song is even better! It just sounds better with piano replacing the bass
If you like this song, try their, "Don't Coss the River (If You Can't Swim the Tide)". It has banjo accompaniment.
My favorite America song 🎵 that says alot. So many are iconic
The great George Martin (the Beatles producer) produced their studio albums.
I definitely love "I Need You" but my all-time favorite America song is a bit more obscure... from the Harbor album, "Sergeant Darkness" - mesmerizing.
beautiful beautiful song. "Sandman" is a darker one but worth a listen
My favorite America song! Got to see them in the late 70's a few times in concert and always loved their music
'i need you' beautiful sing!
i remember being involved in bringing them to play a gig at Harlow (Essex) Tech before they hit the big time, sometime between late 1970 and winter of 1971. at the time Crosby Stills and Co were huge, so these guys went down a storm. i think Horse With No Name was part of their set, but wouldn't swear to it, but beautiful harmonies. One of my all-time America favorites is "Donkey Jaw." I LOVE the vibra-slap.
This song gave me the courage to move on from a terrible relationship to a perfect one...
One best song writing he was great everything great on stage
Absolutely nothing wrong with being optimistic, Amber. A person must accept what is real, but optimism gets us through tough times. I tell people I see the real world through rose-colored glasses. Kasey Kasem used to end his show with, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
Happy, sad, all the feels. Yes, this song is too short! Love it!
Those whisky and cigar times with great music is your way Jay; of getting out of your head for a few minutes (those cigars are killers though). As a nurse I had to add that. Just have one slow whisky with great music. Love you guys. Amber what is your way of escaping your worries.
Great song. America had such great writing and the harmonies are incredible. The musicianship is so fitting for the song and lyrics being expressed.
Love the 3 songs tonight! 😊 America was such a great band, love all those songs you listed.
Always been my Fav. America song......
Amber, I’m right there with you! I adore them, they always make me smile when I listen to them. “Sister Goldenhair” “Ventura Highway” “Tin Man” Ugh!! They all just make you smile!! ❤❤❤
Saw them in Reno, NV in 1996. They sounded like a cd. Great band.
A very underrated band! A great song awesome band !
They should be given the same props as csn - the first two America albums are gold.
Amber's reaction touched my ❤️ Next from America their cover of the song Muskrat Love you are absolutely going to love it. 👌🏼
I love how this song impacted you both. I felt this way as a 16 year old in 1974
Sandman, I need you. Saw them in summer of 75 at a free concert at our local park. Town of about 60,000. 20 mile east of Pittsburgh. Aerosmith played there in 74. Never another concert. We had a great mayor at that time.

Try Don't Cross the River also by America . Great Harmonies.
Never noticed before but the harmonica is very Dylan-like. You could close your eyes and imagine that His Bobness was playing. Very cool.
Daisy Jane is a must.
I love to watch the smiles on you young peoples faces when you listen to music I grew up on. Thank you for keeping all those great songs alive.
"Daisy Jane" by America. Beautiful song. Something Amber would probably really like.
Amber, I love your emotion, you're truly a beautiful soul. God bless you!
Daisy Jane, Muskrat Love and woman tonight are other America hit faves.
I love America. All their songs to me are hits as far as I'm concerned. My favorite from them is "You can do magic" and "Ventura highway" That song always remind me of when I lived in California because I have been on Ventura highway!
Me, too!😊
Saw them live some years ago. They still had it. Great voices and talked to the crowd. Good times. 😊
Same here. Thoroughly enjoyed their show.
I absolutely adore watching Amber react to the higher register instrument solos and duets in a particular song, that I know intimately, but she hasn't heard. Knowing what's coming and seeing her beautiful, spiritual, emotional responses.
Cheers
I went to an America concert in 1978. I have to say it was the best concert I ever went to.
I'm jealous, I would have absolutely loved seeing them live!
You have to see a movie from the early 80's "The last unicorn", all the music was writen and played by these guys of America. Starring a very young Mr imposible missions, by the way. Greetings from Cuba.
Love watching you two, especially with you close your eyes. To me that means you both are really getting into the song.
Amber is the best seat dancer I have ever seen. America has so many lyrical, tender songs. I always forget how many until I cycle back to them again. Their greatest hits were one of the first albums I ever bought myself.
I have always loved th harmonies in this song. One of my favorites.

I wish we could go back to the 70s era just for a little while.
Amber I love your take on lyrics besides being lovely in soul and appearance!
The late great Phil Hartman did that album cover art.
Love this song! Wish I'd been around when this was playing on the radio back in the day.
Next you need to hear Lonely People by Styx.
From the Paradise Theatre album, right up Amber's alley!
Back in those days everything America released was great and a hit which is very rare!
You are both right- you’re never ready for this song to end! A few good ones you haven’t done yet are Daisy Jane, Don’t Cross the River, Only in Your Heart.
..."Class of 76"...Such a great radio hit by a bunch of military brats that met while living on a base...Merica!
I knew this would be in Amber’s wheelhouse. This band inspired untold numbers of garage bands in the Seventies. Cheers and have a great life.
I've been in a stadium full of people and still felt lonely. I resonated with Amber tonight, as America's lyrics flowed by, capturing points in time that may or may not be present tense. What we do with those feelings and revelations is what makes us. ❤

I love every America song! My husband has their first album cover on his wall in his music room.
