I was the fight coordinator of the film. Hope you enjoyed the action ;)
LOVED the action!!!
I want this job!!
You should do an interview with Kristian!
WOW!! Cool to see you chime in. I can't wait to see this.
Incredible job. I’m looking forward to anything you do.
This movie is damned brilliant, best camerawork and visual style I’ve seen in a long time, and Dev Patel is an incendiary device on screen
Let's go Harloff!!! I'm so hyped for this movie and this is a great review! Can't wait to see more from Dev. Do you hope there be a sequel or another action film directed by Dev?
April is an unusually stacked month this year and this one is starting it off for me. I think it was the right move for this to be theatrical instead of streaming.
Also please note that the movie was more inspired by Hong Kong martial art movies, Bruce Lee movies, The Raid, and a number of Korean movies like Old Boy, I met the devil etc. Dev has stated that this movie is more of a love letter to the afore mentioned movies.
Yeah I haven’t seen him mention once that he was inspired by Indian films but more so Korean films
@@mk6rfc1 One of the ring fights is straight out of Ong Bak. And the climactic fight scene feels a lot like The Man from Nowhere. Totally agree about too much shaky cam though.
Every time I watch a Harloff video I think the same thing... 'That's helluva picture of Ant & Dec on the wall behind."😂😂😂
Very excited to see it since the first trailer 💪🏽. Love to hear good things about it
Going too see it this weekend can’t wait
the shaky cam shouldnt exist after Road House lol. Hope all is well mate. Cheers for your views.
I just watched an interview from Dev, not sure if I should have watched it after seeing the movie, he talked about how he made some of the scenes and which movies inspired him the most. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the immersion when I do go see it tomorrow.
Get Dev Patel in for an interview! There's so much that went on in making this movie
Great review. Im excited to check this out!
To see this great movie then read or watch interviews on how many set backs they had, losing crew, the John wick stunt team and its amazing how this movie became
Low expectations, but good to hear it is so good. We are a quarter into the year. Second best movie? Hmm…?
I am patiently waiting to watch this 1 on Friday on the IMAX. Absolutely Outstanding
Always nostalgia when harloff does reviews.
LFG I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS
I thought this was going to be an autobiographical movie about Kristian...
I should be at open mic night at Flappers... 😛
I'm excited!
I’m excited to check this out!
Kristian has the best intro pitch.
Just bought tickets for this! Also loved the end of the video hahaha
Thanks to A-List going this weekend.
Nice
Man I loved living in an area with a lot of AMC theaters! I saw so many movies when I lived near Denver, now the nearest AMC to me is 50 minutes away! A list is great when you live near one!
Cant wait to see this, i would also recommend watching late night with the devil in theaters if you love horror movies
100% going to see this film on Friday looks epic going from the trailer
Dev is actually from UK. His parents and grandparents lived in Kenya. His ancestry is Indian. 🙂
Yeah, the shakey cam was a bit much for me. Especially since it was cropped and zoomed and out of focus at times. it was a little rough. But I really enjoyed this film.
Thanks for the review Kristian.
Saw this movie yesterday, a supremely confident directorial debut from Patel & equally impressive action turn on screen. Thanks to the movie taking it's time, the revenge when served is bloody brutal and bloody satisfying. Monkey Man 2 anyone?...
The shaky cam was pretty distracting for me, and the cinematography is messy. A solid film, but it disappointed me to a degree.
I can’t wait for this film
This may be the movie i end up watching in theaters after the disappointment from couple years lately. Some movies last year were great but thats the thing only a few
Honestly, I found the trailer to be a bit strange. Enjoyed the review. Now I'll go see it.
When will it be released in India?
I hope this movie does well domestically cause I would imagine this will do amazing in the Indian box office market. Dev put it all out for this film and I love that. Turned down roles and injured himself heavily making it.
Why do you think this will do well in India? Dev Patel is a nobody there. Indians see idealized versions of themselves on screen all the time - it's called Bollywood.
@@arpitakodagu9854 I guess in fairness to my point and yours I don’t actually know if it is releasing in India or not. Usually when a movie like this has some international appeal inside of its story and lore and what not I feel like the audience of that kind of thing will go out more. An example is Godzilla films with Japan.
Dev Patel is well known and people want to see some high budget well presented movie, I'm sure this will be a hit
@@Shivay...................278 you say that, but honestly, my local theaters are not filling up that much which in fairness, I don’t think it’s too surprising. I feel like this movie will have a John Wick 1 effect. People go and see it first and then word-of-mouth will spread and it will have a very very small drop off to where people continuously go see it.
It was banned in India no more Western hypocrisy on Indian politics .dev is British not indian
Also my second favourite movie of the year after Dune 2. Grace whatsherface did a review which showed she had no idea what she had seen. Hilariously wrong on pretty much every level. SEE IT IN A CINEMA!!
you were right, i came to know your channel for first time and because of this movie. and i subbed because you called yourself idiot. 😂
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Watch Late Night With The Devil, its another great movie, one of the best of the year so far.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like Dev Patel however these Wick imitator films are getting a bit tiresome. I'll give this one a chance at matinee price.
Also, it's amazing that John Wick was originally meant to be direct to video but Lionsgate was the only studio with the nuts to give it a theatrical release. So not only did John Wick become a billion dollar IP, the franchise spawned its own genre of movies and now every studio wants its own Wick tentpole (lower cost/high profit action movies).
Not everything has to be labelled john wick copy especially since lot of asian movies have done what john wick did. Heck have you seen man from nowhere? Old boy? John wick took inspiration from asian cinema just as monkey man taking it from both indian cinema and asian
With at least 30 million budget , He could have done it much much better action movie.
He said Some of the scene he shot with iPhone .
Great movie very violent action/ indian culture/ great sound track/ comic book orgin story
Monkey Man (2024) was absolutely and positivity one of the most greatest action thriller movies of all time as it was definitely and completely mind-blowing, exciting, and thrilling on so many levels. The story, performance's, music, action sequences, direction, and cinematography was spectacular and phenomenal. It also gives a insightful and articulate representation of corruption and discrimination in Indian society and culture. It was decent.😍😎💯👍
I’m first hey KH!
this movie is fucking awesome.
Why?!
Ha
It wasn't nearly as good as I expected. There wasn't enough action and I found the plot pretty boring.
your square shelving unit on the wall is crooked bro, straighten that shit up and I'll subscribe
Way better then john wick
🙊 👨
Ok. I hate to say it but Monkey Man is mediocre at best, imo. So much promise but comes up short. This is a really a streaming movie. The first 40 mins is a drag. Like straight up boring. I will say after the first fight sequence, it definitely get better. The camera fighting sequences was just jarring at times. The story was just ok. Music and score could have been way better. This is a once and done movie. 6/10.
50 seconds in I just stopped the video, someone tell me is this a spoiler or not?
It's not a spoiler review
No spoilers
No spoilers.
I still don't understand why this movie is banned in India 😔
political reasons
It's not banned. They just decided not to release it now. Because we are so offended by every small thing nowadays.
I was going to see it but then saw jeremy jahns ‘s review and its a skip.
He didn't like it? Interesting. He and I are usually on same page. HUGE disagree with him then on this one!
Just saw it in Malaysia tonight. It's pretty awesome. Worth a ticket
@@TheKristianHarloffsounded more like a mixed bag. Shaky cam, weird edit choices and sounded like the trailer was misleading
I wasn't going to see it but then saw Kristian Harloff‘s review and its a GO!!!
This movie is horrible first how you gonna have a m rated movie with violence and nudity but bleep cuss words out of a rap song the action scenes was ruined by close up camera or shaking camera I walked out half way do not recommend
i can't believe your parents would take you to see this movie anyway.
Just got back from the movie…..wow. I’m astonished this was his first directorial debut. It’s not a perfect film, but it’s damn good.
Beep boop beep boop
