  • Just plain beautiful! Paint and interior and the engine compartment perfect! Just the car to "See the USA in your Chevrolet" according to Dinah Shore!

    How many Car Shows, and car Lots have you been to in your lifetime Jack? I bet you’ve been to more than most. To get just as excited today as you did back at your first car lot experience is amazing. I know I am. Beautiful Impala Conv.

      Hey, Gene! I can trace my fascination back to my aunt's purchase of a brand new '48 Plymouth! We had no car at the time, and my aunt let me sit beside her and shift gears as appropriate! I was 8 years old! I managed to confiscate a thermos cork and borrow my mom's long hat pin and construct a "gearshift"! :D Always was fascinated by cars! If we were at the Jersey Shore for a week, and in Atlantic City, I HAD to visit GM's exhibit at the Steel Pier! And get the newest catalogues! So it's been a long road! I'm so glad that my hobby has had positive influences on my subscribers, and I sure value the relationships that I've developed with them! It's nice to get recognition doing the things that you like to do! Thanks! :) Jack

    My second car i owned was a `66 Impala convertible in red with a white top. I simply cant remember what size V8 it had but certainly not the 396. I think it was the 302 ci V8. It was a fun car, and my next younger brother got it for his graduation present from me. It needed work and he was like five times the mechanic I was, so he fixed it up and promptly traded it in on a Z28 Camaro. The (little scam artist). lol. He went to community college and got a certificate for Diesel mechanic and spent his working life doing that. He has seven granddaughters and one grandson today. My how time flies by. Many thanks Jack for your dedication on your channel. So many of us find joy from your hard work. You are still teaching your viewers every day in automotive history. 16K have learned from you. Quite a legacy you have made.

      Wouldn't have been a 302 as that was introduced a few years later I believe for the Z/28 Camaro.
      Your '66 may have had the 283 or 327.👌🏼

      @@audieconrad8995 Well I know it wasn't the 327 so its the 283 thanks! That was a heck of a long time ago.

      @55points yep...it was a while back for certain. My dad had a '65 2-door Impala coupe with a 283.
      Chevy sure knew how to build a small block!

    I was always a fan of the ‘65, but the ‘66 is a bit more streamlined, and the dashboard is nicer. Is that automatic a Hydramatic rather than a Powerglide? Would that be the first year for Chevrolet?

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey, Ray! Powerglide was offered with the 283 and 327 but the 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic was optional on the 427, not available on the 283 and 327. I do believe it was the first year for the turbo hydramatic. Thanks! :) Jack

      @@coolrides Thanks Jack. IMHO, Turbo Hydramatic was something Chevrolet needed to help put its best foot further forward at least where automatic transmissions were concerned.

      Hey, Ray! So true...Powerglide and Dynaflow seemed to always be in need of something to improve performance. Multiple gear ratios were needed ala Hydramatic as well as the torque multiplication of a torque converter. Thanks! :) Jack
