- In this video I get to meet my hero and it's great. The featured car here is a super special car that not many people know about, a 1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT. These were true full size muscle cars with a U-Code 440 engine and all the fun handling stuff. Have known about this car since high school (a long time ago) and the owner was super awesome and let me document the car. They only made 375 71 Sport Fury GT's but what makes this one special is the paint. For some reason GC8 Mood Indigo paint is one of the rarest colors for 1971 Plymouth Fury's (and it was only available on the Fury model). This is the only know GT in this color and it is just a fantastic color. The owner unfortunately just lost her husband recently and is going to get this car restored. I had a fender here she needed for the car and I delivered it up to her. They say to never meet your heros, that you will be disappointed. This is a case where I have been trying to track down this car since high school and finally got to see it up close and personal.
Calling all Dudes! Fix your cars now! Or Enjoy them in whatever state they may be! Don’t leave it your poor widow to deal with after you are gone!
Yeeeep. Going to get body work done in that 68 soon.
I'm a bachelor...but I'm going to start doing what you said
Mines in the state of 😂😂😂Michigan
Great vid Tom. I particularly enjoyed this one. the examples of the car options being shown with the catalog coding. Your knowledge is impressive. It was like getting a private tour thanks!
These code books are awesome!
Awesome C-Body, I love the combination of purple with white interior. I hope you can one day do a follow-up video of the finished car...
the high back seats are so C body in design. They look perfect for the car.
That Plymouth Fury is
absolutely 💯 beautiful ❤ !!!!
Amazing car.
This thing is a stunning combination! What a gem! So glad she is going to finish it, it will be the coolest GT on the planet.
The owner is the star of this video only 2nd to her GT. I see no one else dressed up with GC8 nail polish, she brings it!
Ya noticed the nail polish matched - was wondering if anybody was going to catch that :)
Man even back in the early 70’s when there were cool cars all over the place, this would have still stood out with that dark blue/purple paint and all the white trim…jaw dropper. I had that rapid transit ad tacked to my wall back when these were new. Even then I thought the GT was cool. Bucket list car for me.
Just not many out there, they made 666 of the 70’s, funny number. Not sure why I didn’t put that in the video.
My aunt had a brand new 71 sport Fury. Chocolate brown metallic, full v-top with embossed pattern, console shift, twin bulge hood with 383 call outs. It was beautiful! I'm looking forward to seeing this car come together.
Big Fury's are underrated .😊318 or 383 get gone good .😊
Such great driving cars.
Great video Tom, the Fury is a very cool car.
Thanks for watching!
Nice, that Ford truck is a camper special. Those have the spare tire behind a hatch in the right side of the bed so it's accessable when you put a slide in camper on the truck.
Your right !! Super rare, I seen one 1970 GT way back in 1971 in OKC, There was a 71 Sport Fury factory 383 6 barrel on Fantomworks TV show,
That purple Fury would have been the last word in the latest style when it was built. And what am amazing car couple they are.
those front fender top ports with turn signal lamp... evoked a F'n no way! out of me :)
Thanks for showing the other brands Tom. I love the movie ford vs ferrari and it's cool seeing the GT40 continuation car
These remind me of a 70 2 dr ht that I had. Bright red with white vinyl interior. Perfect running 318 3 spd on the column. Sharp, but all rotted out underneath. The mood indigo reminds me of deep amethyst, a dakota / durango color.
Sent this to a friend of mine- he had a overall orange one with the powerbulge hood, a 383 auto for a bit.

Good to know, car did have N95 on the tag which is California emissions so that makes perfect sense.
Do a walk around of the 68 Sport Fury 4spd
As soon as it’s out next will do that.
The old guy had quite a collection!.
hi good ep tom
NICE CAR 😎😎
Ive always love those sport fury’s with the hideaways headlights
Great class today Professor Tom.
Would love for you to interview her telling us about each car and why special. Very cool Lady !
Should do that.
@@rocketresto she may not want to be on camera but let her know your viewers are interested ✌️🤞
Does your A4 70 GT has a burnt orange interior ?
I think he mentioned that at the end of the video
It does! Would have done a fender tag decode on it as well but couldn’t get it down from the lift.
Now that's a true car lover...part with something you were going to keep but thought this car deserved it more. That's cool. So is the car. Thanks Tom
Build sheet?
Forgot to ask her so not sure.
I love it!
Such a neat car.
Great car Tom, thanks for the tour and the knowledge! Such a nice example, hopefully she keeps the dual quads and headers. Will she be putting a vinyl top back on? Hope to see more of this rare C body.
Believe she is going to keep all the speed parts, I would as it gives it some personality! Yes putting the vinyl top back on.

Good to know thanks!
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Very cool ! Steve Mag of Junkyard Crawl, he was on Motor Trend. Early this morning he show case same vehicle , so very cool that you have one that has survived. Your video is very informative, & interesting. 🍩☕️👀😎👍
I’ll have to find that.
There was a 71 Sport Fury GT in really good condition at the Belvidere IL Mopar show last year that was one of my favorite cars there that year. It was sort of a gunmetal gray color but had a hint of green, so not the GA4 color found on 71 E bodies.
Magnum restored a 70 GT a while back, probably one of the tougher builds they’ve tackled due to hard it is to find parts for them!
Was it a sunroof car? If it was that would be my friend Dave’s, that car is the only other GT that has an argument to be more desirable to this one.
Did the owner also have a few v code fury as well.i remember a guy from Washington came to GA to buy a black v code fury gt but he never restored it
That was Dan Corely, different guy but yes from the same area.
Hood design part of the EPA "debulging program" of the 1970s?
If this car is for sale down the road??? I'll be bidding or calling. Would love the opportunity to own 1. As always great content!!!
Do you remember the comedian George Carlin and his skit about people and threre stuff? You definitely have a lot of stuff.
50 years ago I occasionaly drove a '71 Sport Fury. Red with black vinyl top(with small rear opera window) and a console. That car was a blast!
Saw a black 70 or a 71 sport fury or fury 2 door sitting in a yard in orting. 2 door looks complete from the road .
Fantastic video! I'm new to your channel, and just subscribed. Thanks for your love of MOPARS. I'm not anywhere near as knowledgeable as you, but I too am a MOPAR or NO CAR guy. There's NOTHING better!
Awesome car, Dave Ray has his own shop in Oregon, DB Restorations.
There is a 70 Dodge Charger RTSE parked in a guys driveway since at least 2002. Out in the Michigan weather all these years. 😡
I had a 70 Sport Suburban back it the day, it was a rusty pile but I loved that car
There was a dude in your neck of the woods that was collecting the 6-pack Sport Fury GT's for a while. I think he had 3 or 4 of them and a couple S/23's as well.
Along the lines of "strippy" cars, a friend of mine used to own a '68 Charger R/T. Charger Red, black top, black guts. 440 4 speed. It was a drum brake, stripe delete, steel wheel car! No Power Steering, 2-speed wipers, NO Tach, NO console, No buddy seat.... the only "extra cost" option it had was an AM/8-track. It was an ordered car out of Cranbrook, BC.
Took my driver's test in a big ol' Fury...think it was a '71 or '72, can't remember, was my Father's car. Was a 4-door, same color green as that 2-door on the lift in the video, with a 383. I do remember that sitting in the driver's seat, I could not reach the passenger door, lol. My large family drove that beast into the ground because you could easily fit 4 in the back and 3 in the front. I went off to the service and once when I came home, the Fury was gone. My brother told me they drove it to the junkyard, but it wouldn't go over 30mph on the way. Fond memories.
Hey Tom, didn't they make a 69 version of the Fury called a Hurricane? I remember that they had folding headlights bucket seats and floor shift .
Good afternoon,,,,,,, Yeee Yeee
Yay yay!
I was a Fury-ous owner for about 5 years. Had a 72 Fury iii 4 door hardtop . . . a 72 Fury, and a 1977 Fury. I have a triple green 1977 New Yorker Brougham Sunroof car I drive regularly.
Saw a 70 Fury GT 6pack in New Hamburg ON Mopar show in 85. . . owner wanted 10K for it then. Too much money for a 21 year old. . . Great video!!!!
The Lancia Monte Carlo/Scorpion is very cool! The rough coupes..? Those are "24 Hours of LeMons" cars- take 2 make 1
Going to definitely reach out to Lemons guys, would rather not see them go to the crusher.
@@rocketresto That Monte Carlo? He put the Euro bumpers, headlights, et cetera on that car. The K20 Honda swap, popular in those & X 1/9's are beasts!
Great find and a chance to get reborn. My father had a 69 Sport Fury with the 383 4 BBL V8 that he loved. These "C" body vehicles were fast and safe.
My dad was a doge parts manager for 40vyears he called that color blurple
Oh man! That is one of my favorite cars!
Finally a C Body! I love my 70 Fury III 😁
I have a '70 Newport Cordoba 2 door. desirable? who knows.......
A 2 door fuselage C body that was a special trim option... you're more than half way there towards desirability.. way more.
from the web: The Lancia Scorpion is a two-door, two-seat, mid-engine, rear-drive sports car that was originally conceived in the early 1970s as a slightly larger, upscale version of the 1974 Fiat X1/9. In fact, the Scorpion prototype was codenamed X1/20 under Fiat development, and much of the X1/9's MacPherson strut suspension design was shared with the X1/20.
************************
I think this was the rare Lancia with rear wheel drive, they were famously front wheel drive cars for a long time.
Good looking car, think they were criminally underbraked. That one was called for, the FWD Beta was for sale.
That 70 you have looks almost like the Chrysler Newport of the same year...are the parts interchangeable?
The platform is the same but almost nothing body wise interchanges. Suspension is the same however.
I recall a V code Sport Fury for sale down there (black?) years ago...thought that was a rare and cool combination!
Yep friend of mine had three v code fury GT’s, two were black. One is still on the property as one of our guys Trev bought it.
Damed straight . Wish they would reintroduce the name .
Plymouth doesnt exist anymore.
I am from coastal Maine so I see my share of rust and rot. Living on the coast we use salt on our roads in the winter but you also have the salt in the air from the ocean...It's a death sentence for sheet metal and frames...I have seen some rust buckets in Washington but I have also seen some really nice old cars come from that area..it seems to be a mixed bag
What gets cars around here is usually pine needles from the evergreen trees. They get inside the window trim and are a little acidic so they rust out the window channels. Once they go them it’s floors gone, bottoms of the fenders, trunk pan etc. They rust top down here. Saying that we really have a pretty good environment for old cars, we never salted roads here. Unless a car comes from the coast they are usually pretty nice.
Sure liked those dual quads!
Was that a hemi air filter assembly on it?
Yes, front a non air grabber 70-71 Hemi car but bases modded to accept edelbrocks instead of the original Hemi AFB’s.
