    In this video I take you behind the scenes at a real wedding and show you exactly how I shoot a wedding.
    All the photographs in this video were taken on my Sony A9 camera with my Sony 35mm 1.8 lens. As well as showing you the final edited images, I also show you each RAW file.
    This is part 1 or a 2 part video. This video shows me photographing the bride getting ready and also the wedding ceremony and part 2 will show me photographing the rest of the wedding day including speeches, bride and groom portraits and the first dance.
    I was actually second shooting this wedding for my good friend and amazing wedding photographer, Martin Cheung. Check out Martin's work on his website: www.martincphotography.co.uk/ Thank you so much Martin! And a big thank you to Martin's wife Daiga too, who was filming the wedding. You can some of Daiga's stunning work on her website here: www.noordinaryfilms.co.uk/
    Finally A huge thank you to Kate and Danny, the bride and groom, you were both amazing and it was an honour to be a part of your amazing wedding!

    Thanks for sharing this project. For ages, I've been a 35 & 70-200 wedding photographer but last year I moved to dual R6's and picked up the 28-70 f/2. I could shoot the entire day on that alone. It's phenomenal and liberating to only need one lens.

      Hi Sean, my pleasure! Yes, I have heard great things about that lens :) using just one lens certainly frees you up creatively

    Thank you for this! Its refreshing to see an individual be happy with their gear and not jumping to the latest camera and making another camera review. I am new to your channel and so far I can tell you love what you have and make it work for you and that my friend is rare these days. Thank you again for sharing the art.

      Thank you very much Christopher! I really appreciate that. I am always far more interested in taking images than in the camera itself, which to me is just a tool. Thank you again!

    Terrific! I really enjoyed this, great you were using the one camera and lens but I loved the insight you gave into being a second photographer, that will come in very useful for me as I like to have a second photographer on a wedding shoot. I mainly ask if anyone from my camera group fancy doing it and as most are just beginner photographers, it will be really helpful to show them this. Thank you Neil for sharing what I think was a great video, I am so looking forward to seeing part 2 😁👍

    I flew over to America to shoot a relative's wedding just using a little Fuji X100V fixed 35mm lens. Everything went well, just having the one camera with its fixed lens made the day a lot easier and I shot about 4 times more than what Id usually shoot.

    honestly beautiful images. it is rather unusual for a couple to pay for a second shooter, at least in my country. and having the assurance that someone else is responsible for the wedding photography, it gives you the freedom to shoot whatever you like. the result is astonishingly beautiful.

    Thanks Neil, you really do impressive work. Congratulations for passing on your knowledge. If I have a question. In the different photographs you took, in this video, do you use an LED light? at least that's what it seems. It doesn't appear to be a flash. Not if it's true or am I wrong? Thank you very much and I wish you all the best. Cheers..

    very good work Neil, congratulations. I wanted to ask you on the day of the wedding what Focus area do you usually use? Thank you

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  2 года назад

      Hi Dani, thank you very much! I personally use small flexible spot on my Sony A9 - which is basically single point focussing - is this what you mean?

    • @danistudio360
      @danistudio360 2 года назад

      @@NeilRedfern
      That's actually what I wanted to know. You agree on the way it works with me, I use the flexible point M, and then a button configured (for when I think it is convenient to use) that I press and the Eye AF is activated.
      Thank you very much

    Thanks for you film, are the lights that were on the altar to illuminate the bride and groom put on by the main photographer or by the church?

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  2 года назад +1

      Hi Juan, good question - the lights were put there by the main photographer who I was working alongside. It was very dark in the ceremony room so they worked really well

    Don't want to sound like I'm worshipping you 🤣🤣but you don't know how to take a bad pic EVEN with just one lens. Really stunning pics. Question though, when shooting from a lower angle, don't you run the risk the of "double chinning" the person???
