I love the fact that at 8:50 you chose to face her to the sun and have a dark background for a more studio lit looking portrait! I always always always do back lit w the sun and add OCF. Thank you!
@@NeilRedfern Must add, this was awesome.Yess, you have monster camera 1/16000 max but with some decent ND Filter everyone can shoot in hursh light with max opened aperture.Framing is just beautiful 😊
Can't wait to give my best in back light siluet position soon, your work is outstanding... Thank you for your time and willing to share your experience.
I love watching your stuff, you explain things so easily. Was wondering what backpack were you using on this shoot? Im trying to find something that I can easily carry 2 AD200s, and 2-3 camera bodies with lenses on them.
I love the silhouette concept. Is it essential that the photographer 1. Shoot UP, at an extreme angle, or is that simply because shooting that high up means the sun is high in the sky and therefore harsh; 2. Shoot UP because the sun is smaller at that position than at sunset? Also, my experience is that unless the subject blocks the sun entirely, unsightly flare creeps into the image; did that happen here, but it was cleaned on the computer?
Thank you very much Paul! Yes, I do, but only really so that I can shoot long exposures in bright ambient light. A filter would have helped a little here but I don't tend to bother to be honest as they are quite faffy to use when you want to work fast
Thank you Neil for this video. I have been fortunate not to have had many weddings in harsh sunlight until recently for weddings and has been somewhat of a challenge for myself. I have learnt from my mistakes and adapted what I know going forwards. Can I ask what is the attachement on the camera for your recording camera please? I really would like to vlog and just want to know the kit you have. I have to say as another wedding photographer, I love your content, really have learnt alot from your videos (shame I cannot do your workshops as they always clash with a wedding I have booked in) and I do really appreciate the time and effort you put in towards helping others. You also make myself reflect on my own work, what I need to improve, critique my own work and how I can adapt going forwards for my clients. Again thanks Neil, keep up the content. Oh btw I recently did a wedding near the spots in Manchester Cathedral and Glass art gallery and took your video you did last year as a guide to help for ideas for my clients, so again thank you for that.
Great, as are all your tutorials. Hey, could you share who makes the camera harness you use, and any details about the model/materials yours is made from? Thanks!
Some nice stuff here. Can I ask why you always use the mechanical shutter? I recently bought an A9 and (especially in natural light) exclusively use the electronic shutter.
Thank you very much David! You will love the A9 :) I also use electronic shutter almost all the time too but when I am working with a model as I am in this video I will usually shoot in mechanical shutter so that they know when I have taken a shot. It is basically to help the model
Thank you very much Leon, I really appreciate that! Yes of course, I use spot metering but to be honest, because I use the EVF on the Sony A9 with the zebra lines on, I tend to take my reading from that more now
I do, although I tend to take more notice of the EVF when shooting on my Sony A9 - I also have the zebra lines on so I can see the overexposed areas live in the viewfinder
I always shoot manual white balance around 6000k. The only reason I don't include that in the video is that it really doesn't matter what I use because I shoot in RAW and so change the white balance when I am editing anyway :-)
Thank you sir. You have one of the best photo How-Tos on RUclips. I’ve learned a tremendous amount in just a few of your videos.
Thank you so much! That is very kind of you 😊
These are fantastic tips! And that model, WOW, she's an Angel! Thanks for the knowledge!
Thank you very much! And yes, you are totally right, Nina is amazing!

I must say im impressed with the shot at f14 and placing subject in frost of sun. And I am hard to impress!
As always, I love your enthusiasm to explain so wonderfully. Just shows how skilled you are in photography!

Gadgets used ?
Could you have used a ND filter for for for the silhouette shots
I could have done yes, that would have been useful but I didn't have one in my bag
Thanks, Neil. Another great video. Do you use ND filters and how would they go photographing in harsh sunlight?
Thank you very much Paul! Yes, I do, but only really so that I can shoot long exposures in bright ambient light. A filter would have helped a little here but I don't tend to bother to be honest as they are quite faffy to use when you want to work fast

Why don't use electronic shutter? 🤔
I do most of the time but when I am working with models it is helpful for them to be able to hear the shutter sound

Very beautiful model .....
Beautiful and very very talented!
the shoot in the hills sir would be more better if u had put the sky in natural color and the subject is silhoutte
...in your opinion....
