My home button stopped working a while ago, starting working again for two weeks, and now doesn’t work again. I have to use the stupid assistive touch and I’m so upset

It's actually fairly easy, it is the easiest phone repair ever. As long as you are gentle undoing the screen, there will not be any other difficulties. It's literally like LEGO blocks.

is a mechanical button or sensor?? ( if its a sensor, it has vibration?)

its a sensor and i am not sure, but it should vibrate
It’s a pressure sensor with touch layer that allows you to bring the screen down to be able to easily reach stuff
It’s a physical sensor that doesn’t move but instead triggers the vibration and it feels different but in a good way you can also change the feel

You can go to settings go to lock screen and swipe search settings and turn on the little button I forget what is called so look for it
if you don’t want to do this just hard reset your iphone! you don’t lose any data. hold the power button and both volume buttons for 5-10 seconds. it will reset. if it still doesn’t work then see if you need to update your iphone. and to enable assistive touch, go to settings, accessibility, touch, and then turn on assistive touch.
Like hold on the side of the screen on the left side the swipe then it pop up all the apps open the swipe up then you bck on the home screen

OMFG UPDATING MY IPHONE WORKED!!! My god I spent hours replacing the housing AND screen on this iPhone, only to find that once I was finished repairing it the home button only worked for around an hour. Thank you so much, you saved me I was so sad and now I am SO happy

Ive had my iPhone 7 Plus since October 2017 when I bought it secondhand from a friend of mine. I had it for about a month when the home button started giving me issues. At this moment it was just a few days out of its original 1 year warranty and so I took it to an authorized Apple store to try and fix the issue and they advised me I would have to replace the whole screen to fix that issue. Which was around an almost $200 job. I wasn’t about to spend that especially when my screen was flawless. Obviously after watching this video I now know that was a huge lie. Good thing I never got it fixed. Well my home button finger print scanner stopped working completely so I just got used to typing in my passcode but the home button click comes and goes. So I just keep the on screen home button active just in case. Thanks!
Yeah mine literally has the same issue, button comes and goes, every day. It’s sometimes there other times nothing, and it’s so odd.
My home button progressively crapped out and no longer worked and was completely pushed in. I restarted my phone and went to the home screen and went into general settings and went to "home button" and changed the feel and it seemed to pop the button back up to normal. Fixed somehow. No idea what caused it.

Guys, if your home button does stop working, you can use assistive touch but customise it to only be a home button then you don’t need to press it then press the home button one

Probably yes, i got the same issue I buy a replacement homebutton from online after I replace the button still not working then technician said need to change LCD screen im wasting money for the home button

The Touch ID is even on the 6s and 6 if it ain’t the home button to that exact phone Touch ID won’t work but the normal home button function will

I have the IHold and use it all the time I always plug it in to the charging port. It never occurred to me to use it they way you do in this video to work on the screen side. Thanks for that
OK I learned something new today so I can go home now
Just completed this. After laying evrything out and gettting stuff ready it took a total of about 5 minutes. I am mechanically inclined, very little electronic experience. The only thing not covered well is connecting the new button. Gently lay the connector from the phone over the new button connector and place the metal plate in place. The connector from the phone will center itself in the metal strap. He also did not cover installing a new seal before closing up the phone. Warning-those screws are tiny, even if you have good eyesight, you will probably need glasses/magnifier. Good luck and be gentle.

@@arbabgarage No, the touch ID will not work unless the screen and button are replaced together. Probably by an Apple repair facility. Eventually, someone will find a way to do it, but it is an Apple Security feature. I am just happy the button works!
My Home button on the IPhone 7 stopped working after a screen replacement, I found out after why... 🤦🏼♂️🙄 but now weeks later the home button has turned back on!
I’m thinking Apple may have unlocked their pairing with the screen!
TheDanWildman this same thing happened with me, it’s only recent turned back on and it has stopped working again.
I’ve just worked it out lol well my phone anyway!
If I squeeze both sides of the screen next to the home button when I turn the phone one, it lets me use my button! Yay! 🤷🏼♂️😂

Just did mine had little issues with it but turned out pretty good only thing is it’s more of touch screen then clicking

Iphone 7 here, had the home button replaced, I knew ID wouldnt work but it also stopped double clicking. Is that normal with aftermarket buttons? To double click I have to lift the finger off and press again.

Tech Beats i use rubber cement around mine and also around the screen it works pretty good its a little tedious applying it with a toothpick but it works great

Touch ID is linked to the logic board Genius for security reasons so someone doesn’t replace the home button and unlock the phone . Touch ID won’t work after you replace it

See I was here and I came back to save some souls. Cuz Ik everyone not doing this Bullshit . Get a vacuum with like a tube thingy and turn it on and put it by the charger port and leave it there or move it around the top of the home button. I’m sure everyone has a vacuum right?
