Thanks for an excellent review. I looked forward to this one for quite some time. Waiting for a Superb iV to replace my V90CC D4. Did appreciate your review at that one at the time as well. For a long time my choice for this car change was V60 T6TE, but when I came across the Skoda dealer and became aware of the value for money this iV represent, I turned over. And I’m swedish, and a Volvo fan... Well, let’s just hope for a recovery from the corona plague soon. There are lots of more important issues than cars right now. Thanks again for the break, the entertainment.

Excellent review as always! Proud owner of a Superb iV L&K myself. I use the e-manager functionality myself and find it very useful. Especially now in the winter months over here (Sweden) when the car is fully charged and warm (climate control) when I drive away every morning. Keep up the good work Thomas!

I've always been immensely impressed by Skodas, and this is the best one. Small point, I really liked that you quoted the length as 15ft 9 inches - much easier than doing the mental arithmetic of converting inches to feet.

Very comprehensive review. In the UK there is a further benefit fro the company car driver when it comes to paying private mileage. As Skoda retained the 1.4 engine it falls in the lowest bracket and combined with the very low BIK is an ideal choice for the company car driver. Thank you Thomas

I like the simplicity of interior design, that shkoda don't added this unnecessary things that isn't praktikal but others adding just for fashion, i also agree most of the parts with you for exemple on EV stuff and recuperation. Thanks.

Great video. Excellent commentary and driving, Thomas. Not a cheap vehicle but good overall price/performance, shame battery is small! Last year, we had a Passat B8 GTE PHEV on loan for a week, loved driving around in the E-mode, but disappointing limited range in electric only - wished battery had been bigger, like the new GLE PHEV! Nice car! Nice Review! Keep up the great work. Best wishes.

Where is the dvd/sd card unit inside the glovebox? Where is the Canton badge and sound options for the upgraded sound system? This is what they market as an option. I own this car, it comes with more disadvantages than advantages.

The very only logical and reasonable mode is full recuperation. Use all wieght to gain some extra electric power all the time, becasue all systems for recuperation are already in car and have a weight.
All vag models have the same light button... No matter what model. From polo to superb. Only the newest models like the leon, golf and octavia have different ones. This superb contains the same old one.

cheers! Definitely Race Blue, you cannot order another Blue with the PHEV version. The Energy Blue is a uni-color and not metallic color, that also proves it. Here you can definitely see it is a shiny metallic color.

Great video as always Thomas greetings from Normandy France, I love this car and I promise myself that one day if I could get it again I would I had the 2015 model until 2018 and then I had to sell it because of a divorce but that’s a car I want to get again oh yes and it is in Thomas blue
Wait is Skoda related to the VW/Audi family? It reminds me of a Passat mixed with a Jetta and the interior is similar with the digital instrument cluster and steering wheel.
Edit: The infotainment also looks like a skinned version of VW’s system as well

Im very interested about this review, because my company car will be exactly this car. But i have one question to it. Please do you know, if the petrol engine is heated when you drive on electricity? Because for example, when you drive by -5 degrees on electricity and than you need to overtake somebody, it fires up the cold petrol engine to max revs? It is not good to petrol engine and it must destroy it after short time. No? And here, even the Skoda dealers cant answer this. So do you have any idea?

It looks like it has a lot of Volkswagen parts. We don't get Skodas in America so i don't know what kind of brand it is. Maybe a more premium VW? Either way its a nice car.
pricing is lower than VW counterparts.. not saying VW is any better

Hi, the new Skoda Superb iV is very cool.
Great review, as always!
However, at 8:44 - the extended base seat seems to offer less support, at least in that position.
I found out that this is the case with most of the cars except large/tall SUV's.
In order to get a better leg support, you should really change the angle of the seat or/and get a higher seat position.
What do you think?

Yes! At least for taller drivers.
From my point of view(1,95 m), they should design the extended part to be adjustable also on height/angle - at least one step.
You could move the seat all the way back and up(and change the seat angle) in order to get better support, but then the steering wheel will be too far away, even after the steering wheel adjustment.

Great vid as usual! Question is this really a mk 4 (iV) I think it is just a face lifted mk 3, Skoda may call it "new" but I feel that is just marketing, not 100% sure?
Was all new gen in 2015
iV is not for the model version. It a facelifted mk3 superb. It's about the powertrain iv (I think intelligent vehicle)
I have driven one of these and felt that the regenerative was a little too strong. Is it possible to change the rate of regeneration?

You've had a chance to drive several generations of the Superb. Would you say the sound proofing is improving? It is the only thing I can fault them for (I drive a diesel though...). How would you say this iv version would handle on long road trips (in hybrid mode) in terms of fuel economy? Thanks for the fantastic review!
Thanks! I found it very good also in highway driving. Yes an eclass is more silent at higher speeds but is also way more expensive. The phev wont bring u the biggest advantage on highway drives but it will be fine...

1st of all, great review!
You mentioned an interesting thing: the recuperation and how it works (not sure how efficient) when the battery is dead. Would it perform like a non-plugin hybrid in such a situation (and to what extent)? Would you compare it to a hybrid corolla for example, from this point of view (and fuel consumption, sort of, with differences expected due to differences in motors/powertrain).
Basically you can plug it in and use it for X km, but also you can start with a dead battery and just use it like a non-plugin hybrid?
Curios about your opinion on this matter since you drove it around for a while (with a simple testdrive this is somewhat harder to notice)

How does general interior noise compare to A6 ? The suspension sounded quite ‘clonky’ on rough roads ?
As i said it s great, but a6 with insulation pack Should still be a little bit better
Octavia suffers from not ideal rear suspension as you pointed out in the Phev model review (pointing out that Golf estate is smoother - btw, what about seat Leon st?). Does Superb suffer the same issue?

What do you think when u compare to bmw 2 series why should one choose superb over 2 series because its the same price or A3 or 3 series because price is very close .I guess except for the space rest all is ok let me know?

doubt it but I think there's a proper electric plug in the car too

My iV has a 220V plug. Kids use that to charge their laptops.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why manufacturers are using usb3? When almost everyone already has a normal USB cable, this means yet another lead having to be purchased and more redundant leads being dumped into landfill. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Replacing my Passat GTE with the Superb iv. Emerald green and the L&K spec. However, when do the factory open? Might have to wait a long time because of the shut down. Any info about the CZ corona situation dear Thomas?
You ll have a lot of fun with it! So far now news, factories remain closed. If you can still switch, don't pick L&K. Too expensive and too much animal skin / too much suffering and sweating in summer. SportLine or Style is way to go

My job is around 9 km from home, I can drive on all Edrive for 1-2 days. What you think about a criticism of this PHEV engine, because petrol engine is on but cold, and because of that consumtion of pertol is higher? Maybe the critic are wrong?

PHEV shall have 3.6kW charger. No more. Don't ask for more if you don't know why you want it
Great review but could you tell me the real world mpg ,i drive a 2021 superb 2ltr diesel as a taxi and getting 45mpg uk , would consider this as new car ?

thanks! Yeah that is a frequent question, I also talked with engineers about that. They say that the PHEV engines are built a little stronger in some parts and that long-term experiences shows no higher failure rate that with no PHEV engines. However it is clear that with every other engine it is very unwise to high rev a cold engine. So take it slowly before the ICE jumps on the first time, just as with every other pure ICE - for better long term durability. The repeated wake up when being warm shouldnt be a big issue.

Hi Thomas, typically good review, understand the focus on iV PHEV part but seems you've forgotten to test the navigation. Just received iV Laurin&Klement so almost in Full but Skoda navigation is total disaster for me and a big disappointment. I guess not many people go through the comments but still for anyone's information.
Search by phrase which should work kind of like google does not work that well..(stay with google :) )
You can not review itinerary to see through list of roads where the car is taking you. You can not avoid selected section of the route (let say you want to drive around specific highway with toll or road where traffic was just reported ) You can not tell navigation that road in front of you is closed and it should suggest new route..(it will tell you to make U turn half of the driving on official detour ) it is somehow displaying road signs at highway exits or intersection but it is so small in the corner that if any help it will help you to make an accident if trying to read it.. The car claims to have "traffic info online service" but you see no such information in the map (green-red traffic flow ).. Not sure why highway must look like a river in blue color.. POIs are also strange - you have Hungarian Restaurant but no Parking category... you can't easily search POI around your destination... I have at the same time 2018 e-golf with basically same infotiment but navigation is far far better and has everything I mention above so going to 48k Larin&Klement is a big downgrade..in this sense. But seats are ventilated so lets connect CarPlay or Android Auto and forget about Skoda navigation.. as a car it works very well I can agree with review.. I really expected that navigation will at least be same as Golf2018.. infotiment is kind of slow in response overall...but that is not too bad.. if it would have the features...
Also as you are making these PHEV reviews make sure to tell people if there is single phase 3.6kW onboard charger not to bother with wall box.. in my case dealer was happy to quote 2000 eur installation works .. waste of money... using 16A Schuko with provided 10A "home charging cable".. 5 or 4h to charge makes no difference... also ask them not to block 22kW public chargers which at least some EV drivers can actually use to potential (or at least up to 11kW) and EVs can not move without that.. PHEV is pure home 230V socket overnight charging use case .... I still like my iV here on vacation at Alsace, charging from camp cabin socket.. ;) for little fuel save next day and zero emission driving inside villages.. 👍😁

Sportline with DCC on 19" is fine when in comfort mode. In Sport its firm, and a little crashy........but then again it is a 'Sportline'

There are still fairly high pay back curves for the huge extra cost of the hybrid. If your normal car spend is 45k its a nice well made car with a battery. But you won't save money. And if you have that money to buy this car you don't need to....
In Germany, if u get it as company car with private share, you ll save tons of money every month in taxation
@@autogefuehl that will make a huge advantage to cost but its artificial rather than market driven. Grants subsidies and tax breaks are goods paid for by other people to make your purchase cheaper.

I think it is best that you check the online configuration on the Skoda website, and spec it to how you want. That would give you the price, including tax. I would give you a link to an online configurator, but I do not know where you live. It is different everywhere.
How much heavier is this car compared to gas only version?
Plus 200 kg in comparison to 2.0 tsi - has no significant impact

Looks to be a nice car. Cannot buy in Canada. Strange seems to be no travel restrictions in Germany despite the growing crisis.
be alone or be with your household's partner, keep distance to everyone else. These are the rules in Germany and they make sense and are backed up by leading virologists. Not allowing people to go outside is nonsense, it's better to get some fresh air, just have to restrict contact.

32:00 is the TSI "stress" because it's 1.4 or because it came with the DSG6 ? (I suspect the later)
having the ICE only turn on at times for heavy demand can't be good for its longevity.
Engineering says these engines would be built for that

Sportline trim yet standard height suspension? Odd... Also, the 'IV' acronym seems displaced as it suggests unpleasant hospital treatments. I think the Superb has aged well but I like the Octavia better. Too bad it's been ruined with fake directional wheel design all over the lineup, following into Peugeot's steps. When will this plague end!
