  • The Skoda Superb iV is a plug-in hybrid that rivals the Volkswagen Passat GTE and BMW 330e. Smooth and slick, it's also temptingly economical if you drive it right.

The advantage to Skoda, compared to a Mercedes is, that it does not need to fit such a big engine, so it has a shorter hood, which leaves way more space for the leg room and trunk. I love it.

I think the not so sporty feeling of the brake has a simple reason: If you brake not really hard, the iV will try to do this just by producing electricity and charge the battery. Only if you press the pedal harder, the brakes on the wheels will be activated in parallel - so the pedal might not put pressure on the brake system during the first 5-10% of its travel distance. This of course might give you an indirect feeling...
I'll get mine in about 2 weeks...

Great review my friend. I agree about the brakes, having test driven the 2020 1.4TSi Sport Line. That aside. I pick it that Superb iV 1.4TSi on May 19th. Thanks for a concise and informative review, unbiased and informative.

The space is nr1 reason why I want a Skoda Superb. My son is over 6ft, my son in law is over 6 ft, by bf is close to 6 ft. My best friend is handicapped and uses a walker, and when I go somewhere with her I need trunk space for the walker. My mom also often uses a walker Just endless reasons why I need the space for both people and “luggage”

Wish Skoda would do a 2.0ltr iv instead of the 280 4x4. Skoda needs the flagship sedan fitted with a more exciting engine.

@@lewisannis6031 I pick it up 3 days ago. Unfortunately with Covid, I couldn't cruise much (home-work in a rather urban area in Milan). I had previously the same model 2017 TDI 190 HP which was pretty powerful.
First impression electric mode is AMAZING really smooth and pretty fast.
Petrol is still a good performance with a good reaction. I tried the acceleration combined is impressive.
The break required a bit more strength to stop the car, using the energy recovery system.
      Overall I am super pleased!
I tried to recharge with 220v from the garage at work and e-charging stations in town.
Using the engine does recharge not too bad 1% every 2km but my test is not scientific!
I went to work in the electric mode return trip (20km) was a wonderful drive. I hope this is helpful. Any other questions... I am here :)

So if you dont have much of the battery left, the E Mode will deactivate itself or ?

    • @CompletecarIe
      @CompletecarIe  3 года назад

Yes, if you have selected the pure electric driving mode, once the battery is depleted it will automatically switch over to the combustion engine and it will continue to act like a hybrid, attempting to use the electric motor wherever possible. ^DH

I'm very tempted to buy one of these, BUT my worry is that our government wants all ICE cars off the road so this will surely impact severely on its resale value?

    • @CompletecarIe
