225g self raising flour 50g marg/butter 80g grated cheddar cheese 150ml milk 1 tsp mustard powder 1/2 tsp salt Rub marg/butter & flour together until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add mustard powder & salt Add cheese & mix Add milk and mix until it forms a dough Roll out and cut out Bake setting 190c/370f for 6 mins (brush tops with milk) Flip for further 6 mins (times may vary depending on AF, always check!)
Scones do not rise as much as you would think so you have to make them thicker before cutting out rounds. I always add some grated cheese after the milk wash before cooking. Adding chopped chives to the mix gives them more yumminess too. Could have eaten a lot of your makes though, no problem. Thanks for sharing Kerry.
Darn it Emily, I have a huge chives growing in my garden lol - good excuse to have another go and add chives plus make them a bit fatter, great tips here thank you💕💕💕
Just watched your short on beans glut!!!!! Genius!!!! Vegetable peeler to get rid of stringy bits!!!!! I'd never though of that...brill!!! Even in my 70s I can learn new things. Thanks Kerry!!!
Hi Kerry yummy don’t handle the dough too much no kneading action at all as soon as milk combined turn out onto surface and shape dough with hands no rolling pin xxx
I was going to say the same - really don’t overwork scones - mixture should be scraggy, I put it on working surface just as it is coming together. Then I gently bring it together, I do not roll just press into shape and cut out as the other folk say with a quick plunge with floured cutter - you can hear air sound expel! 😊
I have just discovered your channel and more importantly, just tried this recipe for cheese scones. Absolutely delicious! My dough was a bit chewy, probably from over mixing but I got there in the end. I think I’ll try a touch of garlic powder or chilli flakes next time around along with the cheese. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤️
Like you, I follow John Kirkwood. He cut his a bit thicker and didn’t flip them over. Both yours and his looked tasty. PS I got a free shower cap from the holiday inn which works perfectly for bread.
I love cheese scones and I put a piece of cheese in them with Branson pickle yum yum . I’m loving my air fryer Kerry. Thank for all your hard work in doing these videos for us xx❤
love the look of these kerry, you constantly surprise me by what you cook in your air frier, yes and you are as usual quite right you just need to cut them a bit deeper, i always double the mixture so that i can make them thicker
Ahhh, I think the last time i made cheese scones was at school, lol. My gran always made the best "plain" scones and have to say treacle scones are my favourite. I have made the 3 ingredient scones in the airfryer, and the house smelled like my Grans, which brought back so many lovely memories, but these are ones I would definitely make with Harrison. Thank you, Kerry, those looked tasty. Have a lovely weekend. Look forward to seeing what next week holds. Xxx ❤
Aww that's lovely, Jacqueline 😄💕 that reminds me of my gran. Her sideboard always had the biscuits, condiments and various treats in the sitting room (just like jack and Victor's set up in still game with a kitchenette off of the sitting room) well that sideboard smelt delightful and when I was wee I liked nothing more than poking my head in there and sniffing the yummy smells. I've got that same sideboard and the smell lingered for years, I would sneakily have a good sniff and mourned the loss of it once it was gone lol. She lived in hillington east if you know it but she grew up in springburn. Have a fab weekend all of youse 😃💕💕
Loving the Cheese scones Kerry I do mine in the dual blaze so they cook top and bottom. Top tip never twist the cutter and your scones will rise better Cayenne pepper gives a lovely taste along with mustard powder, give it a go Kerry and see what you think 😊
Tasty Kerry. What would we do without the good old Air fryer. It's amazing what you can do in them. Learning all the time. More cheese on top or perhaps controversial marmite.
When it comes to wet ingredients like water and milk I don't add the whole amount at once as the mixture normally gets too wet, I add about two thirds of the total then add a bit more if needed until it gets to the consistency I am happy with.
I love your videos Kerry especially the 'taste test'! Try one with a poached egg on top, that is really yummy and I know you like a nice poached egg 😊 x
Hi Kery. Yummmmm!! Personally I never use baking powder. We find it has a strange aftertaste. I use self raisihg flour as you did..always works well. Suz loves my 'Christmas' cookies..based on a Belgian biscuit called Spekuloos....I dont make them too often...cos we eat them!!!!!
For a better rise , after mixing try not to handle the dough as much see John Kirkwoods scone videos I've tried his method and it does work. I love your airfryer vids and you have made me think of buying a second one. I have a Ninja foodie grill so would like to go for a dual drawer one too 😊
Ooo I love john Kirkwood will go watch and am planning to have another go this weekend (arm barely twisted lol) thank you. Having a 2nd one is a game changer, I love my cosori dual blaze, brilliant for roasties, chips and I've just cooked full cottage pie straight in its basket oh and baking too. Using it in conjunction with the ninja has been so good with cooking meals for the family. I have the 11n1 as well and that's brilliant too, it acts as a 2nd hob (I've covered my gas rings) plus all the other functions I steam airfry an extra large chicken on sundays, and the water in the bottom becomes the gravy. Best chicken and best gravy I've ever made. I do love airfryers lol plus I love not using my oven n gas hob😄👍👍
I have one that looks like a small oven, you can fit more in them than the drawer ones, my one is 30 litres, also has 2 shelves and a metal basket for doing chips etc in.
They looked so delicious I could almost taste them. When you use the cutter don't twist it, just cut straight down. Also when you egg wash them make sure the wash doesn't go down the sides as it will not rise properly. Can't remember where I got this tip from but it does work. I'm sure the taste wasn't affected though.😊❤
Terrific, I like that size scone. I noticed when you turned them you didn't brush them with milk that might have browned them quicker. I would eat mine with ham and pickle. ❤
Very nice Kerry .. sure it's always savoury with cheese scones..but yes perhaps abit higher but then I thin you'd probably have 8 scones then..but worth it..seeing as you've never done them b4 I think you've done a wonderful job ..ange xx
Hi Kerry, they looked scrumptious. I like all your China pots, they look so nice set out with the ingredients in them. Next time you could try adding a bit of baking powder to the mix and making a couple of less scones. Last time i made them i made them to thin, i thought they would rise but they didn't. I've been reading through the comments theirs some good tips on there
Those look so delicious Kerry I'm going to have a go at them, that's my favourite scone every time we go out for a coffee,my wife likes treacle so if you get a chance have a go at them so I can follow your recipe 😊
Ohhh they look lovely,n I'm the same as you never made these before my self,I think I would have not added all the milk as flour is so different from brand 2 brand, but hey they turned out lovely, clever girl you are.take care x
Hi Kerry, well done on your cheese scones. I agree with other comments about not twisting the cutter or milk washing down the sides as this dose hinder the rise. I would also suggest not to put all the liquid in at once, I find that my scones come out better if I make a slightly dryer dough. I love to eat cheeses scones warm with butter and a little chilli jam. Oooo off to make some now 😁

Watched this with my hubby he says "you gonna make me those?" Of course! Hubs said to tell you thank you!
Looks Very Good! Here in Australia I would put an egg and some bacon on that!
I would! But, then again, I would even with apple pie.

@ oven
@ JK was oven.
They look yummy 😋😋😋😋 will be on list for trying thanks Kerry xx
Great recipie, I will definatley try this. I would add butter and a little marmite.

Red Leicester l find gives a great colour. Personal preference at the end of the day. ❤chilli flakes, and herbs, even spice adds something different ❤

They look good Kerry very tasty looking especially with the melted butter. A little chutney on them perhaps?
Terrific, I like that size scone. I noticed when you turned them you didn't brush them with milk that might have browned them quicker. I would eat mine with ham and pickle. ❤
I love all your china. The scones look fab too.
You do not need or roll out scone mixture. Add milk a little at a time and never turn the cutter.
That way you make realy fluffy scone.
Very nice Kerry .. sure it's always savoury with cheese scones..but yes perhaps abit higher but then I thin you'd probably have 8 scones then..but worth it..seeing as you've never done them b4 I think you've done a wonderful job ..ange xx

Think I need to try a 2nd batch with all these great tips thank you👍👍 good idea will def try that
I love your dishes
Thank you Linda💕💕

Aww thank you Susan💕💕 good point, think I will have another go (fab excuse to try out the useful tips here in the comments section 😄👍)
Try adding a teaspoon of baking powder and see if it makes a difference.

I add 1tsp baking powder, or actually find self raising flour even better.
I do not roll scones as they don’t rise much, so you need to pop them in about the size you want them. They looked nice all the same.😊
1st again, yay! Love cheese scones
Woohoo 1st one Suzanne!!😄👍💕💕
I never use a rolling pin used press it out with my hand
Kerry those scones like really tasty next time you make a chicken pot pie or steak pie put the scone pastry on the top of your pies lo very fran xxxxx

That's a great idea thank you Jennifer, cheap butter is still more pricey than cheap marg 🥴, prob makes a better scone thou lol
@@budgetcookinguk where do you get Daisy marg from please
@@jennifermharvey9882 it's from Lidl Jennifer 😃👍 it's very similar to clover marg which is very buttery but pricey now. £1.29 500g tub

Hi Kerry
Hi Jennifer 👋😃💕
A Cheese Scone in my opinion only needs real butter on it.
We are raising money for hearing dogs
