    Ingredients:
    360g plain flour
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp instant yeast (1 pkt)
    240ml tepid/warm water
    Total Cost: 33p!
    pre heat AF with 6” tin inside on 200c/390f for 20 mins, add some water if you wish, pop bread onto baking paper and drop into the tin and put it on Bake setting 200c/390f 20 mins, with foil covering the top. Bake for further 10 mins with foil off, you prob will need to flip for extra 5 mins.
    Leave to cool before slicing and enjoy!
    It is a dense loaf so being toasted improves it 😃👍👍

    That looks fab, and so simple! As it happens I’ve just run out of bread…! Incidentally I think the recipe may be in error about preheating the air fryer for 20 minutes, three is plenty.

    • @irenes.2807
      @irenes.2807 8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, I imagine most of the water would evaporate. My unit recipes also recommend 3 minutes to preheat.

    • @alasdair8545
      @alasdair8545 6 месяцев назад

      Yes for such a small space 20 minutes is very extreme, I wouldn't heat my main oven that much, also the small space in the airfryer a lower temperature and longer is a good idea, its trial and error

  • @DeesCT
    @DeesCT Год назад +2

    Suggestion: Why not use a bread pan (either glass or metal) in the air fryer? You can butter the sides of the pan for non-stick cooking. Let the dough rise in this pan. You can make two breads simultaneously. I've noticed on youtube that there is a tool to remove the the pan from the air fryer which makes it much easier. Really like your homemade receipes! Hi Kerry, looks delicious and was so easy to make. You can't beat home made bread and jam. It's a good idea using the shower cap. I like watching John Kirkwood as well. It's a good idea putting some water in the bottom of the pan. When I make a Xmas cake in my fan oven i always put a dish of water in with it, it helps to keep it moist. Also i don't think you have a lazy bone in your body. What with both your channels, your job and looking after your family you must be worn out, i am just watching you. LOL

    I'm wondering if a straightforward swap to gluten free plain would work? GF bread is ridiculous in price, around £2.50 - £3 a loaf. I always toast it anyway as its usually pretty fragile so that wouldn't matter. I think i may give it a go, as such a low cost it's got to be worth a try 🤞

    • @budgetcookinguk

      Where do you shop for gluten free flour Glenda? I started to google how much they are : asda seemed to be best priced at £1.05 1kg but then I went down a rabbit hole of how to make your own GF flour!! 🥴😄👍so 360g of GF asda flour would cost 37p, obv add cost of yeast and it's still a lot cheaper than the mad prices supermarkets charge for a ready made loaf! Wow, make batches and freeze. Mine was quite dense, I might knead next time, it was fun experimenting thou😄👍👍

    • @glendaanderson8627
      @glendaanderson8627 Год назад

      @budgetcookinguk Ah thanks Kerry. Yes I usually shop Asda or Tesco depending on who's on offer lol. Unfortunately, the 'budget' supermarkets only do gluten free every now and again, which is mad as people who are coeliac need it all the time!! Madness!! I'm definitely giving this a go as budget really struggling just now. I usually get supermarket own, which is £2 but when I was doing my online shop last night for Friday it says its discontinued 😤 so only the big brands available!!!
