I loved living in Massacusetts and was there for 18 years. No tax on clothes, which is a huge boon. They are particular about catalytic converters on cars. This person is talking about Boston and eastern Mass. Personally, I feel that Boston drivers are insane. They make lanes where there are none. Actually, in Western Mass. in the Pioneer Valley there is a bus company that serves the three counties: Franklin, Hampshire, and Hamden. Berkshire County also has buses, but only along Route 7 from North Adams to maybe Great Barrington. Great Barrington has wonderful shops. In fact, because of the lack of taxes on clothes, there are gobs of "outlet" stores and shopping centers in Berkshire County and elsewhere. I lived on the edge of a woods and saw many wild turkeys, deer, black bears, bobcats, and the occasional coyote right in back of my house. Snow in the Berkshires starts in November and doesn't stop until around April. I've had snow in my yard in May. Summer in the Berkshires is roughly six weeks. She's right about "northern hospitality." People are reserved, not hostile. Only in the summer, when the New Yorkers arrrive, is there a problem with theft. Otherwise many towns are occupied by fairly honest people. But beware if you don't know what you're doing when buying a house or a car. There you could well be conned by the "locals." Sometimes they will give advice when asked that is off the wall, just because they are trying to be helpful when in reality they have no more of an idea than you do. Other times they are out to cheat you. Up to you to figure out what the truth is.

Yes, western mass and eastern are like two different worlds! I think western mass is much nicer but a lot of people are only interested in the Boston area :(

Great list. Another thing to be aware of for folks moving to Boston is that the housing stock is generally older, featuring tight staircases and small elevators. This presents a problem when trying to move oversized furniture. So, if you have a queen box spring or 9 foot long couch, this is something to consider.

I used to hate MA winters, but it’s milder now (probably due to global warming). MA is awesome in so many ways in comparison to other states.

Im glad that you like it here 😩 I on the other hand am still trying to get used to it. A unique situation, a southern city girl moves to a small town in Cape Code, Mass. I actually had no choice because i had to move in with family. I hate the cold and i live 10 minutes from a beach so it can get very cold. Long winters and short summers, Atlanta is the complete opposite. However, i really am loving the summer time here especially since im in walking distance to a beach. I'm not completely hating it here. I've lived most of my life in the south so this will take some time to get used to. I can learn to love it. Quick question, do you have any recommendations of things to do around here, specifically on the Cape?

Oh another thing i LOVE about living here is the marijuana laws not gonna lie. I use it for more mental health reasons then recreational. Georgia is SUPER SUPER strict about weed. It's very easy to go to jail for a small amount of it while driving around in Atlanta or outside the city. So the fact that it's legal here both for medical and recreational is amazing and useful.

    • @Burksthewolverine

May I ask what town it is that you live in cape cod? But if you want to know some things that are a must go a day to Nantucket Island! Visit Provincetown aka the gayest city in USA. And the most important to visit is cape code national seashore in wellfleet, Massachusetts

I am aware that the area i live in is more of a seasonal place so there is a lot more things to do during the summer months which im happy about. Plus monument beach is smaller compared to Old and New Silver beach, so its not as packed during the summer. I found out after moving here that most tourists go to the most well known/popular areas in Cape Cod, Old Silver being one of them. Monument beach is less known so it makes it easier to have fun.
