You do a pretty good job of giving the basics of a complex set of topics, especially as you reference other videos with deeper dives into topics like weather and expenses. I'll share a comment made to me by one of my international students. "I have a Mercedes Benz, my mother and father each have one. I don't understand how you can live in this city, it's so expensive that I feel really poor here." This was a couple of years ago, and Boston has not gotten cheaper.
The weather topic is more important than it seems. I went to visit a friend outside of Chicago one January, and the wind from Canada went through my Boston layers like a hot knife through butter. OTOH if they're from Florida or SoCal, they complain about freezing if the temperature drops below 50. Northern Europeans, Koreans and Japanese students never thought the weather was too different, some said that Boston was more like Europe [others England] in climate, culture, cosmopolitanism and architecture, than other cities in the US.
You alluded to diversity in neighborhoods, but the deep dive needs to mention the St. Patrick's Day Parade, The Italian Festival, the Ice Cream Festival, the Caribbean Festival, Chinese New Year, the Catholic Bishop's annual blessing of the Greek, Portuguese and Italian fishing fleet. etc. Near where I live there are 3 Buddhist centers, two Hindu temples, 3 Muslim centers, an Egyptian Coptic Orthodox church, several Jewish centers, numerous Catholic and Protestant churches with a variety of languages on offer. Some Americans don't seem to know that there are many religious choices here and most people here don't care which one or none you choose. I do not know the ethnicity or religion of any of the tenants in my building, and they don't know mine, nobody cares.

I work in Boston and have a small condo in NH (right on the border of MA). Without traffic it takes me exactly 40 mins to get there so I plan my time wisely. I pay less than what my coworkers pay for a room for my mortgage. I wish I could afford to live here, but my City has literally every store and restaurant and mall. I can go to town hall and register my car, pay my taxes the same day, traffic is busy but not like Boston. I love this setup and I love Boston as well.

I love Boston. I miss living there everyday. One of the biggest pro’s for me is that it is a walking city.
The last place I lived was on Charles street in Beacon Hill. Unfortunately the only way I can afford it was with a loan (student housing loan).
I have been working my way back to getting to Boston. I am working outside of Boston and hoping to slowly work my way back in Boston lol

Back in the late 90s when I was living in the Seattle area I seemed to run into a lot of people that had moved to the Seattle area from Boston.
One girl that I met told me that her and her friends were in college there last year and they decided that they were going to write down cities that they thought they might like to move too, Seattle won, they said there was a lot of similarities but it was quite different and the same. I have never been to Boston but I really want to go

Boston has diverse food, beaches, great universities, and rich history. Its summer and fall seasons are beautiful. Winter has been mild in recent years due to global warming.
A large part of the Boston metro area is not livable - too dangerous (ghettos) or expensive to live in. Most coworkers I know live in the suburbs.
MBTA has been so crappy this year making commute to work quite painful; also, there is high traffic during rush hours, parking is super expensive.

come on. i lived there from 2005-2012, winter is easy compared to upper mid west/north (WI, MN, IA, ND, SD, IL, MI)' if you've lived anywhere like that, winter is great, there is snow (sometimes), but not too much cold...the host...from St. Louis, is from pretty far South comparatively, so, winter is no reason to not move to Boston. I loved Boston, lived in Brookline. Such good times. Cheers.

Boston is a great city. Born and raised here since 1980 so seen all the changes over 4 decades. It has changed so much. Today very clean safe and high tech. They keep the streets clean and homeless off the streets. In the old days it was very gritty, racially segregated and lots of gangs and crime. No longer the case. Rents are off the charts. Most people cannot afford Boston housing.

Winter can be up and down. I remember an entire winter when it didn't snow or go below 40 degrees a few years ago. But then a few years before that we had the longest stretch of blow 10 degree weather days ever recorded. So....you never really know. I always recommend preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best. You need a good insulated winter coat, gloves, hat, and a decent pair of boots.

I’ve lived in Boston for all 29 years of my life and I must say after the pandemic this city has become very anti social ! The bar scene is nothing like it use to be , combined with weeks sometimes a month straight of zero sunlight in winter can make for a depressing experience. The education is good but people basically never have time to do anything other than work because of high cost of living . It’s become a very introverted city with no balance . But hey , everyone will have a different experience this is just my perspective!

In the city, if you live close to where you work, or the T is next to you, it's totally doable. Some neighborhoods are pretty difficult to have a car just in terms of parking. In the suburbs, it's more important to have a car if you don't want to take the T or commuter rail into the city

When that happens, after a few months, the women can have jobs, pay taxes, and start leading a normal life. They need that safety net to start to retrain their robot brain. Boston is polite but distant. Peole will divert their eyes instead of saying hi. People are on edge like most bigger cities. There’s an under city of poor and drug addled like everywhere in the US. Relatively safe still. It’s a dry city means people are studious or crazy hours of work so unless your heading into a bar on Boston you could be very bored especially in winter.
