    Good for Beth Tweddle. She helped revolutionize modern bars composition.

      I have to agree with you. She probably "made" the current cop to only grant 0.2CV for combo between two flight elements rather than just E+D. Mustafina basically made transitions between the bars famous.

  • @rebeccasilver2181

    Beth Tweddle and Aliya Mustafina really revolutionized the uneven bars. When you look at the uneven bar routines from the past ~10 years, the top bar workers are either performing a series of huge releases (popularized by Beth) or a combination of transitions and pirouettes (popularized by Aliya). There's an interview with Simone from 2014 or so where she said she liked to watch Aliya on bars, to try to emulate her rhythm.

    • @unknownuser_99

      He Kexin was quite influential, too, with her huge release moves and pirouette combinations.

      @@unknownuser_99 He Kexin UB work is out of this world, but she really didn't influence UB workers. Her combinations and skills aren't used at all. No one does a Li Ya ( jaeger 1/2) or a LO Jaeger, no one connects Pak from a jaeger, no one except Varinska is doing an inbars jaeger ( and Varinska does it out of a Tkachev 1/2, not jaeger 1/2). The one-arm pirouette+ one-arm pirouette + Jaeger is a combo done by Chinese gymnasts way before He Kexin.

    • @silverleopardcat
      @silverleopardcat 4 года назад +1

      @@unknownuser_99 I loved He Kexin's 2012 routine, but since then I've never really seen similar ones. You have a lot of people doing the Tkatchev 1/2 + Ezhova + Shaposh 1/2 combination that Tweddle pioneered, and now the entire Russian team (plus a bunch of others) is essentially performing the combination of inbars, pirouettes, and transitions, all in connection, that Aliya originated, but Kexin's specialty was forward releases, and aside from standalone straddle/piked Jaegers, those really didn't catch on. Her pirouette sequence has long been a mainstay of Chinese UB constructions, even before 2008.

    I think that the main reason behind Tweddle topping this list is that she just threw so many skills. There were other UB workers in this video who had an element or combination or particular quality to their routine that might have been superior to hers in some way, but about 2/3 of the way through her routine, you think she's more than done, but no she just keeps coming through with more skills. Full twisting pak always looksto me up messy and you can't do much but a kip out of it. ezhova only really works and looks good with a shap connection. When they grade the seitz (full twisting Maloney) as an only and E, it doesn't really encourage gymnasts to be adventurous does it? That's the problem.

      @@fredrika27 I think you're talking about Olympic qualification rules being changed not Worlds. These smaller meets(world cups) do not have the same importance as worlds as they are very limited in terms of number of athletes a country can send and there's no team competition. But points gained there can qualify an individual athlete to the Olympics who otherwise would not have made it on their country's team or their country didnt have a team to send. Athletes can also qualify to Olympics through continental championships like Euros and Pan Ams but not Commonwealth.

    • @fredrika27
      @fredrika27 4 года назад

      @@jayjaxon4272 Thank you for the explanation. Why aren't the Commonwealth Games counted? I ask because the gymnasts along with other athletes from Jamaica, South Africa and India have all participated at the Commonwealth Games and qualified for the Olympics or bigger meets. Winning a medal there is always mentioned as a stepping stone when the gymnasts are introduced! Until recently, there is also the issue of no world event meet being held in other parts of the world like Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, the Caribeans and the Pacific Islands countries. I don't have a list of all the "secondary meets" in my head, but I do know there are a half dozen or so qualifiers which can get gymnasts a wildcard entry to Worlds or Olympic events or am I wrong (I can and do admit when I am wrong)? Worlds are important for the traditional countries from North America, Europe, and Asia especially Japan, China and the more recent India. However, countries like Jamaica, Israel, South Africa and even Cuba have relied on lesser meets to qualify. Meanwhile countries like the US, Russia, China and Ukraine have so much talent they can afford to compete at most meets in the world while qualifying more gymnasts! Or am I wrong? I think World's are important, but they have also been somewhat biased against teams and gymnasts who don't belong to the powerhouses. Personally, I view "lesser" meets equally as important because they introduce new talent whereas unless gymnasts have an off day, the World's are rather predictable! Personally, I think there needs to be a redistribution/rescheduling/new assignment of qualifying meets so all countries have a more equal opportunity of qualifying. This should be done because hosting large events are very costly and can drain a country's resources! Finally, I always thought the goal of most meets was a chance to perform/qualify for the Olympics every four years! World's are important, but if a team or single gymnasts can get there using other means, good for them! Therefore, World's importance has lost a bit of prestige and the words "FIG" approved event or qualifier becomes more important!

    • @jayjaxon4272
      @jayjaxon4272 4 года назад +1

      @@fredrika27 There aren't any real qualifiers for Worlds. Anyone can go and compete. Believe it or not athletes like Danusia have qualified to Olympics at Worlds. Danusia's performance at last year's World Championships is what qualified her to Olympics not the smaller meets. Even Cuban and Israeli gymnasts have qualified to the Olympics from last year's World Championships. Athletes from countries like India and so on, they can qualify at their continental championships like the Asian Games and African Games but the quota for those is only 2 athletes and only 1 for Oceania. Most gymnasts qualify to Olympics through the World Championships and I think Worlds is more important than the World Cup series as its more inclusive. Also for the All Around World cups (like American Cup) gymnasts have to be invited based on their performance at the previous World Championships or Olympics. For the individual apparatus challenge anyone can go. What makes Worlds so predictable is the same reason that makes the Olympics so predictable, the top most talented athletes from wellfunded countries are there so of course they're going to win most of the medals. There is bias at times but its not exclusive to Worlds.

      Because that’s how the scores worked out. Funny how the girls who everyone say should have placed ahead of her got nothing a year later at the Olympics… and she got SILVER.

    I'm sorry but Simone's routine is so boring. All her difficulty based on strength, no actual real style or grace. Not a fan of Simone on bars at all. If I'm honest I'll be glad when she retires. It's boring because on all the other events we know who's going to win.

      She has every right to win if she is the best

      If you find it boring, don’t watch. Simone has every right to be in competition the same as any other dominant athlete does. It’s great to know your opinion matters Jack nothing to her.

      An Olympic silver medalist on bars and a member of the gold medal winning team. Have you come close to accomplishing this level of achievement? Doubtful.

    This video would have been much more enjoyable if they didn't keep cutting between performances. It would be better if they just played the performance without cutting back and forth
