    You can also make your own wike with a simple 100% cotton tread soaked in some borax, then have a layer of wax on it.
    That's what I did with mine, there is no smoke and it works well.

      Winner of a video, I been tryin to find out about "how do you get candle wax out of a jar?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panlijah Inconceivable Position - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good one off guide for discovering how to become a candle making master and turn a profit minus the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

    Hello! Thanks for this amazing video! I am using KY 143 and a liquid color dye from rustic essentials, but the candle came out darker (and with a slight transparent quality) than an opaque soft pink, like it should have. Is it possibly because I heated the wax to 200 degrees and put the dye in at that temp as well? I poured the candle at 180 degrees. Thank you!

    You always give informative ways to make the candles. They are awesome....
    I made some pillar candles and had some problems while lighting the candle. Somehow the candle melted fairly quickly and turned the color from cream to brown, caved in while burning. I'm not quite sure what happened. Do you have disaster videos why the candle discolored while burning? Did I use wrong wick, wrong wax, etc.?

    • @bjflinn1
      @bjflinn1 5 лет назад +1

      What? A pillar candle isn't like a container candle. It should leave a candle wall on the outside after burning. Otherwise it would just melt and go everywhere. When you put out a pillar candle you need to kinda tuck and push the softened edges in and down so that when the wick is gone you end up with just a small disk left over.

    I've never done this before, but I was curious, is there a reason why you put the mold release on after you put the wick in place?

    • @TimberRidgeGifts
      @TimberRidgeGifts  5 лет назад +2

      No special reason I suppose, just where it falls in my process. I suppose the only benefit would be to prevent it from being smeared if you happen to touch the inside of the mold while you're placing the wick.

    Candle faux pas question...
    Have you found a way to fix a candle if you’ve added too much FO to wax and have pooling on top? It there a method to fix this or scrap it and start over?

    • @TimberRidgeGifts
      @TimberRidgeGifts  6 лет назад

      It's not a total goner. Sorta fixable, but not sure if I would trust it enough to sell it. You could wipe the excess from the top with a paper towel, then reheat the top and sides of the candle to get it to remelt and remix just a little.

    I notice you use a burner rather than a double boiler... is it specifically designed for wax melting? I ask because I was told not to use a burner. Something about burning the wax. But if I can, I’d rather use a burner than a double boiler.

    Paraffin is about 10% less dense than water. So you will automatically get 10% extra wax if you melt the same weight of wax as the water weight.
