THANK YOU! I have been making and selling candles for around 5 years now, have sat through a course and NEVER heard how to calculate the amount of wax needed. This is one of the most basic and important aspects of candle making and you are the first person to divulge this 'great secret' - THANK YOU! 😘
Which wicks is this? I need to fix pillar candles for someone but I’m confused as I don’t have the wicks so can you tell me which wicks is this.? Also can I remelt the pillar candles and and pour into plastic tub?
Angela, thank you for this video. I would like to add stearic acid to my paraffin wax. Do I need to melt the stearic acid prior to adding it to the wax or may I just pour the flakes into the wax and melt it that way? Also, will 10 to 15 percent stearic acid in my wax harm my silicone mold? Thank you very much!
Also, lol, try the pringles can. I just made a bunch of candles over the weekend using the pringles can and cannot believe how successful (not to mention economical), it was. MakingYourOwnCandles has a great tutorial!
Did you use mold release spray or how did you got the candle out of the mold...do we have to use any medium for easy release of candle from its mold.? Kindly advice
@@mitaliattick8436 Molds seem to be a bit tricky, the candle may come out, it may not come out. It cannot hurt to use a mold release spray. (someone said you can even use cooking spray. Just spray and wipe so there is only the slightest residue left)
THANK YOU!

Wow thanks!! Weigh the water then take away 20% for wax quantities, and "pillar blend" are really awesome tips and instructions, x thanks x
Best demonstration I've seen yet!! thank you
Love the outro music! Great video, thanks sharing your tips!

Hey can u please post a video on layered candles
I will add this on my to-do list ;-) www.savvyhomemade.com/crafts-hobbies/diy-candle-making/
Very nice...Thank you!
Hope you enjoy making your candles!
What was the name of the product to make the candle shiny if it looks chalky?
Should I grase the mold with oil?
I can't find molds anywhere, where can you buy them from? Thanks!
Did you try Amazon? amzn.to/2JQRjJ2
Also try Candlewic, Candle Science, Bulk Apothecary, Lonestar Candle, (all .coms) etc. I found Candlewic to be rather reasonable.
Also, lol, try the pringles can. I just made a bunch of candles over the weekend using the pringles can and cannot believe how successful (not to mention economical), it was. MakingYourOwnCandles has a great tutorial!
Thank you both! I will check those out. I should have mentioned I’m in Australia, hopefully those sites will ship!
@@Eristhenes thanks for that one eristgens😃
at what temperature you poured your wax?
What do you use to prevent the melted wax from leaking.?
just simple candle making mold sealant
Did u oil the mould before putting in wax ?
I didn't, the important thing is to buy a decent quality metal mold. But you can also use a little wax or candle release spray.
Why do all pillar molds have holes at the bottom? Why can't we place the wick the regular way with that metal piece on the bottom?
Because it's made upside-down. So that you get a nice smooth top and a perfectly shaped candle without sinkage at the top.
How do you know what size wick to use please
Hi Nicola, take a look here www.savvyhomemade.com/candle-wicks-wicking/
Where we can find it
Can you tell me wax name
where to get the mold
Hi where can you that needle?
I think I got that from Amazon
so it is ok to use 100% soy for pillar candles
Heavens no! Soy is too soft to sustain to the form. You must use Paraffin or a paraffin soy blend. All the best!
@@Eristhenes ok, Thank you
