    THANK YOU!
    I have been making and selling candles for around 5 years now, have sat through a course and NEVER heard how to calculate the amount of wax needed.
    This is one of the most basic and important aspects of candle making and you are the first person to divulge this 'great secret' - THANK YOU! 😘

    Angela, thank you for this video. I would like to add stearic acid to my paraffin wax. Do I need to melt the stearic acid prior to adding it to the wax or may I just pour the flakes into the wax and melt it that way? Also, will 10 to 15 percent stearic acid in my wax harm my silicone mold? Thank you very much!

      Also try Candlewic, Candle Science, Bulk Apothecary, Lonestar Candle, (all .coms) etc. I found Candlewic to be rather reasonable.

      Also, lol, try the pringles can. I just made a bunch of candles over the weekend using the pringles can and cannot believe how successful (not to mention economical), it was. MakingYourOwnCandles has a great tutorial!

    Did u oil the mould before putting in wax ?

    • @Savvyhomemade
      @Savvyhomemade  3 года назад +1

      I didn't, the important thing is to buy a decent quality metal mold. But you can also use a little wax or candle release spray.

  • @zuckerkane
    @zuckerkane 3 года назад

    Why do all pillar molds have holes at the bottom? Why can't we place the wick the regular way with that metal piece on the bottom?

    • @Savvyhomemade
      @Savvyhomemade  3 года назад +1

      Because it's made upside-down. So that you get a nice smooth top and a perfectly shaped candle without sinkage at the top.

    so it is ok to use 100% soy for pillar candles

    • @Eristhenes
      @Eristhenes 3 года назад +2

      Heavens no! Soy is too soft to sustain to the form. You must use Paraffin or a paraffin soy blend. All the best!

      Did you use mold release spray or how did you got the candle out of the mold...do we have to use any medium for easy release of candle from its mold.? Kindly advice

    • @Eristhenes
      @Eristhenes 3 года назад

      @@mitaliattick8436 Molds seem to be a bit tricky, the candle may come out, it may not come out. It cannot hurt to use a mold release spray. (someone said you can even use cooking spray. Just spray and wipe so there is only the slightest residue left)
