Totally agree that they should've done some aged special editions. I think if I'd been lucky enough to buy one I'd be sending it to a luthier specialising in relic jobs with some hi-res photos of the in game version to replicate the look completely. I'm also the kind of guy who totally wants an R2D2 replica one day and would absolutely take a baseball bat and a hammer to it like they did with the original! If you're getting a replica of a prop, you really want it to look like as beat up as the one you saw on screen!
I actually like that they omitted any mentioning of The Last of Us franchise. This way it is a Taylor guitar that that a character in a game plays, rather than the opposite even if it is a The Last of Us Guitar.

Love it, but my god, this is beautiful. I literally looking for someone who can make me the inlay which just seems sad. I'll probably regret not getting this
As a Koa GS Mini owner, I can say that you will not be disappointed with it. Personally, I want a Taylor K22 but can’t justify the price. I’ve heard a rumor that a 222K Deluxe is about released. I’d be on board for that if it happens.

This ain’t just a random guitar. It’s a taylor and high end taylors could go up to 20k. It’s not priced on that level just because of the game’s novelty, rather it is expensive because it’s also a good guitar wood-wise, sound-wise, and material-wise.
I think it’s good there’s no Last of Us 2 branding. I feel like every limited edition branded guitar (the first act VW guitars for example) always become dated. This allows the guitar to be timeless regardless of the game.

For once it wasn't a cookie cutter happy ending like the first game where we saw Ellie and Joel together and going back to the safety of Tommy's camp. This time we see Ellis life being ruined. I still think it was a very unique tale. Where they messed up is their timeline and knowing when to end the game. They should have ended it before Tommy tried to pressure Ellie to leave again. That part should have never happened as well as the last 2 hrs of the game.

Interestingly they didn't use that Taylor for the recordings of the song. Neil Druckmann mentioned that a vintage Gibson (roughly 50 years old) has been used for all the guitar recordings.
My only complaint about this is that it's actually one of the few guitars I think I would've preferred it if they'd done a relic job on it. If you're copying a prop, even a virtual one, I feel it'd be much cooler to replicate all the wear and the look of what you see on screen too. It's still a gorgeous guitar and I can understand that most people maybe don't want their guitar to look like it's from the zombie apocalypse though!
No, I rather relic it up myself. As it is more than just a "prop" it is a functional high end guitar. One I plan on keeping for years. If I'm paying that much for a guitar, I don't want it looking like it came out of rubble in an apocalypse. It looks beautiful in person. I'd rather have a version of how the guitar was meant to look before all the bad stuff started. The moth was enough to remind me it was the guitar Joel gave Ellie. I don't need to it look worn and beaten for that.

The first one was a massive hit, the second one is mixed. Game never did anything for me. But the standard model of this guitar as he mentioned, is $2000, this limited one is only a few 100 more, which isn't bad for a high quality limited guitar.
Here is something you guys might get a kick out of. A friend of mine bought a Greco Mirage 1000 about a month ago. The guitar shipped in a case..... and that was all, no box, nothing else. No locks on the case, just the case. Luckily the guitar itself arrived safe, the case however, well it did it's job

Perhaps you should start documenting Vintage Fender guitars which were meant to compete with Gibson. - The Coronado - The Starcaster Which were Fender's take on the Es-330 and ES-335 respectively. They were very UN-Fender with their hollow body construction and DeArmond pickups (the Coronado, the Starcaster had Fender's Wide Range humbuckers) but with Bolt on necks. Both guitars have since been reissued but the original ones from the sixties and seventies are actually quite interesting guitars.

The criticism of this games story line on review sites like metacritic were pre-game-release review bombing by bigots. And a lot of people who criticize this game haven't actually played it. The game is truly fantastic, and a very fitting end to the series.

I’m not a hammer at all. I do love my Taylor. I own a 1995 855. For those that don’t know is a jumbo body 12 string. Which they don’t make in a jumbo size at the moment. And it plays super easy and sounds like a cannon clear & bright. But I’m here for the Trogly show

I haven't played the game myself (I don't have or want a PlayStation) but I watched Jacksepticeye's playthrough but when I saw that guitar I knew I would probably never get one (too expencive) but I just wanted them to exist so i'm happy that Taylor did the smart thing and made them

I'm the person who lives in Latin America and couldn't afford the game and the guitar, but I'm happy 2 see this unboxing, felt really nice to take a look at it and hearing it.
I'll also like to add, they didn't "sale out instantly". What they did is they sold them to the closing date (June 31st) and out sold the amount they could promise by the ship out date which was Aug. 28th. So now they are making several shipments. Mines must be appart it the last shipment because I'm still waiting.

My first acoustic was a cedar top, so when I went shopping for something brighter, and looking for an electric cutaway, the 314 was my choice in 2012, and still loving it! I have my Tonewood amp brace setup in it. The burst on this edition is beautiful though.
The game would have more universal appeal if the first game didn’t exist. Anyway, the LOU series is only a zombie shooter game on paper, there’s so much more to it. Taylor guitars are terrific, but I wouldn’t give up the natural look even if the sunburst is cool. No acoustic sounds that good direct, IMO. I prefer the sound of a mix of mic’d and DI.
The first game is what made the second game make sense. If the first game didn't exist than we would understand Ellie and Tommy's anger and. passion for revenge. I actually was glad this was sunburst because the natural look of the typical 314ce looked a little too plain to me. If I want to see natural wood I would just look at the back of the guitar. That is enough natural for me

Yes, but (if you don't include electrics guitars) acoustics guitars specifically at this price point are at the same quality of this one. So might as well just get this one. When you get over the $3000 price than it used fancier woods but the main differences are just cosmetic (special inlays, the arm rest, etc) And below the price point of this guitar, than you get more into the guitar with the layered laminate backs rather than them being fully made of wood.
It's limited edition though, even non limited guitars that are above 1000$ skyrocket in value after 10 years. This? It won't be made anymore, so it'll be even more expensive than a non limited guitar.

I played videogames for 20 years and TLOU 2 is maybe the best for me. People who don't like the game don't understand TLOU 2 represents what could happened in real life. This is not a game like others with happy ending. No one could predict the end of this game, it is so different than others videogames or movies where the hero always wins at the end. Maybe this game was too mature for kids used to play no brain games, which is I guess, the big part of players sadly. It is also very different from TLOU 1 but in a good way, I'm happy that developers of this game tooks the risks to make something different from the first one, it is so rare nowadays.
Taylor vs. Martin - I'd still pick a Martin any day of the week. I own a Taylor and I do love it. But nothing beats the sound of a Martin. My biggest gripe with Taylor - if you need work - it can only be done by an authorized dealer. You can't purchase the spacers from them directly if you can do the work yourself :-/
I love Martins too, but I did have the opportunity to play this guitar next to a Martin D-28 and I must stay. The Taylor V-class is way louder and ridiculously well intonated. Taylor did something great with the V Bracing. I agree with Martin tone though, they are something special
Taylor's customer service is absolutely amazing, incredibly reasonable prices, but they repaired my 114 for free under their life time warranty. I've heard some incredible Martins in my time but every one I've played personally has sounded dull. I think they have quality control issues.
@@khimaros lol yea the only Martin's I've ever played have been well.... old ones. I've never picked up a newer model since they have always been out of reach for me. And I'm sure Taylor is great customer service wise. It just sucks for me. I'm literally in the middle of nowhere. The nearest dealer is an hour away. And during this time it makes it all that much more complicated. If they would let me do the work and send me the parts I needed I could've just done it myself. I understand where they are coming from though - so its just a minor gripe I have.

Her arm tattoo is inspired by the guitar moth and has its own backstory (covering a bitemark; symbolising obsessive compulsion, light+dark; reminder of Joel who gave her the guitar). But the reasoning behind Joel's guitar having a moth wasn't explained or given any particular symbolism that I recall.

Disappointed that the inlays aren't MoP, but was low key amazed by the guitar simming in the game. You could easily learn their version of Take On Me from that scene. Even how much and how fast of the touchpad you hit changed the way the character strummed the chord.
It looked white in the game. Didn't notice a shimmer. But I would have preferred it to be the mother of Pearl. However if you think about the character who own the guitar they would have likely prefered the vintage plain white look.

Both guitars have since been reissued but the original ones from the sixties and seventies are actually quite interesting guitars.
That would be a great idea, but he hardly gives any love to Gibson ES models so I wouldn’t hold my breath for their Fender counterparts.

The criticism of this games story line on review sites like metacritic were pre-game-release review bombing by bigots. And a lot of people who criticize this game haven't actually played it.
The game is truly fantastic, and a very fitting end to the series.

I bought an expensive Taylor for myself. My daughter picked it up and decided to replace her epiphone. I have not seen that guitar in over a month.

I’m not a hammer at all. I do love my Taylor. I own a 1995 855. For those that don’t know is a jumbo body 12 string. Which they don’t make in a jumbo size at the moment. And it plays super easy and sounds like a cannon clear & bright. But I’m here for the Trogly show
The inly looks really cleanly applied with not much filler.It would have looked better in pearl but I kind of like the vintage look of the cream coloured plastic.
True. I still would have preferred it to be Pearl. But when you take the style of the game and the characters the guitar belong to the probally would have preferred the plain white.

There was a video of game collectors editions, and there was a part about this taylor guitar. he said its overpriced and noone would buy it. everyone in the comments quickly corrected him saying that it was a Real taylor guitar and not a fake thus making it worth what its worth.
I saw that same video. That fool also said that The last of us GS mini version was the game's design on a cheap Chinese guitar and just a way for them to get money out the fans. Amazing, he called a Taylor GS mini, an overpriced cheap Chinese guitar. Shows how little he knows.

Casino Guitars hosts a great RUclips tour of Taylor Guitars' plant in Tecate, Mexico with Aaron Dablow. This new facility started building cases, and also builds the Academy, 100 and 200 series guitars. The first digit of the SN denotes the location (1-El Cajon, 2-Tecate) and both plants are just a 40-minute drive apart, with identical equipment. I just started learning to play with an Academy 12e (ES-B electronics) and a few days ago added a (discontinued model) Breedlove Pursuit Exotic Concert E Sitka-Koa (L.R. Baggs EAS, JLD Bridge). Both were clearance from music stores that also sell on Reverb. I wonder what the PlayStation Store's margin is on the 314ce? Taylor's cases have a great reputation in the industry (that $200 case that ships with every 314ce), and the Andy Powers design V-class bracing is a great improvement over the previous standard. For what you receive, Taylor Guitars' pricing is not that bad, and don't forget that the price includes the case or gig bag, and even the gig bags are well-padded and durable. Taylor Guitars Primetime goes live on RUclips every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Pacific, 8 p.m. Central if you'd like to "nerd out about guitars" and a little sports. I'm sure if you wanted a really custom 314ce for this game, they would build it...

That guitar has a gloss back and sides finish; the standard 314CE has a satin back and sides and a gloss top.
I'll also like to add, they didn't "sale out instantly". What they did is they sold them to the closing date (June 31st) and out sold the amount they could promise by the ship out date which was Aug. 28th. So now they are making several shipments. Mines must be appart it the last shipment because I'm still waiting.

Direct DI usually sounds very tinny.
My first acoustic was a cedar top, so when I went shopping for something brighter, and looking for an electric cutaway, the 314 was my choice in 2012, and still loving it! I have my Tonewood amp brace setup in it. The burst on this edition is beautiful though.

The game would have more universal appeal if the first game didn’t exist. Anyway, the LOU series is only a zombie shooter game on paper, there’s so much more to it.
Taylor guitars are terrific, but I wouldn’t give up the natural look even if the sunburst is cool. No acoustic sounds that good direct, IMO. I prefer the sound of a mix of mic’d and DI.
The first game is what made the second game make sense. If the first game didn't exist than we would understand Ellie and Tommy's anger and. passion for revenge. I actually was glad this was sunburst because the natural look of the typical 314ce looked a little too plain to me. If I want to see natural wood I would just look at the back of the guitar. That is enough natural for me

Yes, but (if you don't include electrics guitars) acoustics guitars specifically at this price point are at the same quality of this one. So might as well just get this one. When you get over the $3000 price than it used fancier woods but the main differences are just cosmetic (special inlays, the arm rest, etc) And below the price point of this guitar, than you get more into the guitar with the layered laminate backs rather than them being fully made of wood.

It's limited edition though, even non limited guitars that are above 1000$ skyrocket in value after 10 years. This? It won't be made anymore, so it'll be even more expensive than a non limited guitar.

I played videogames for 20 years and TLOU 2 is maybe the best for me. People who don't like the game don't understand TLOU 2 represents what could happened in real life. This is not a game like others with happy ending. No one could predict the end of this game, it is so different than others videogames or movies where the hero always wins at the end. Maybe this game was too mature for kids used to play no brain games, which is I guess, the big part of players sadly. It is also very different from TLOU 1 but in a good way, I'm happy that developers of this game tooks the risks to make something different from the first one, it is so rare nowadays.
Luckily on the Venn diagram of guitar nerds and Last of Us nerds I am in the middle! Never thought I see the day ;)
Taylor vs. Martin - I'd still pick a Martin any day of the week. I own a Taylor and I do love it. But nothing beats the sound of a Martin. My biggest gripe with Taylor - if you need work - it can only be done by an authorized dealer. You can't purchase the spacers from them directly if you can do the work yourself :-/
I love Martins too, but I did have the opportunity to play this guitar next to a Martin D-28 and I must stay. The Taylor V-class is way louder and ridiculously well intonated. Taylor did something great with the V Bracing. I agree with Martin tone though, they are something special
Taylor's customer service is absolutely amazing, incredibly reasonable prices, but they repaired my 114 for free under their life time warranty. I've heard some incredible Martins in my time but every one I've played personally has sounded dull. I think they have quality control issues.
@@khimaros lol yea the only Martin's I've ever played have been well.... old ones. I've never picked up a newer model since they have always been out of reach for me.
And I'm sure Taylor is great customer service wise. It just sucks for me. I'm literally in the middle of nowhere. The nearest dealer is an hour away. And during this time it makes it all that much more complicated. If they would let me do the work and send me the parts I needed I could've just done it myself. I understand where they are coming from though - so its just a minor gripe I have.
That is not true. The sound of a Huss and Dalton goes beyond that of a Martin. The problem with those are the pricetag.

Her arm tattoo is inspired by the guitar moth and has its own backstory (covering a bitemark; symbolising obsessive compulsion, light+dark; reminder of Joel who gave her the guitar). But the reasoning behind Joel's guitar having a moth wasn't explained or given any particular symbolism that I recall.

Disappointed that the inlays aren't MoP, but was low key amazed by the guitar simming in the game. You could easily learn their version of Take On Me from that scene. Even how much and how fast of the touchpad you hit changed the way the character strummed the chord.
It looked white in the game. Didn't notice a shimmer. But I would have preferred it to be the mother of Pearl. However if you think about the character who own the guitar they would have likely prefered the vintage plain white look.
Cool! So let's take this guitar apart and look inside! Maybe we will find a long neck tenon and handwired electronics. xD
