My Gibson Elvis Presley Dove shipped in the coldest month we had this year (Feb 2023) and had a lacquer check/crack right down the centre seam after opening the case….Even after waiting 24hrs.
On any other channel this would be clickbaity but this is one of the few that literally NEVER clickbaits (unless it's for comedic effects). That's cool to finally have reached the level where you can put an order like this together and actually get them all. Even a lot of dealers would have trouble with it, I think, because it's not "whatever we send you" it's "what you're requesting". Good job building up the channel and thanks for a cool video!
Trogly is a beast. Historic record indeed. When I was 14 I bought a Gibson explorer from my local store for around $800. It was a E90 dbl. For 2 decades, I had no idea what I even had. When I really wanted to know what kind of guitar I had, I called Gibson. Was not able to get any info. The only info I could find was Trogly's review. So I feel his amazing documentation on this model priceless. Have been a fan and sub ever since. Love your channel Trogly!
@@nickphillips1721 Gibson should be giving this guy all the free guitars he needs. If I wasn't literally homeless ATM with sole custody of a 5 year old with autism, I would want a Trogly guitar just because Trogly inspected the instrument personally and you know exactly what you are getting.
@WizardsWithMachinery IKR. best they could do was direct me to the serial number lookup page that describes how to read your serial number. Trogly on the other hand, had a wealth of info on this model. It was made when Gibson was going through transitions and didn't know how to compete with other manufacturers during the metal/shredder Era. I still have this guitar, and even during a hardship, I will never part with it.
I love the natural back and sides, when PRS did it and when Gibson does. There's something aesthetically with the combination of the highlight colour, and the natural looking wood which really does it for me.
The white reminds me of a Fender mint green pickguard. That oxblood will look killer with play wear taking some finish off the arm area exposing the flame.
What an episode! Sparkling Burgundy in gloss looks stunning. I love Rick Beato but his signature in faded/satin/whatever Sparkling Burgundy, with the open-pore wood grain, looks like a little kid brush painted it by comparison. Thanks, Trog!

The natural backs look so great! It gives these a fancier look. I know people say it's cost savings, but it's really not. It's more work masking off the entire body except the top than to just spray the entire guitar one color. And they still have to spray the entire body in clearcoat too. Yes minor savings in finish cost, but countered by more cost in labor to paint it. Also, I'm disappointed in both blueberry guitars you got. Neither have enough purple in them to get that nice color transition. Great guide though for choosing what to get. Sold me on 60s versions and a few of the colors.
Yeah, I have a mid 90s Ebony Standard that's solid black and always get jealous when I see the natural back versions... I actually think the natural back works best on Gold Tops, but it appears they're not offering any Gold Top Standards this year?
I'm not sure really. I stopped following what comes out. If anything special does Austin usually shows it. But I agree natural back gold tops are gorgeous

Great job, thanks man! I've got the Sparkling Burgundy Les Paul Modern, and love that too. I did change the knobs from the stock clear ones to the black and silver top hats. However, after seeing this, I'm kinda tempted to swap out all the knobs and plastic parts (pickup surrounds, scratchplate, poker chip) for white ones, as that looked really cool.
Damn. That ox blood was a letdown for me, but I loved pretty much every other one. I agree with the burst idea! And I'm a strat guy :D I still appreciate the beauty of a Paul, though.
Here's my ranking for the finishes. 1. Sparkling Burgundy 2. Cherry 3. Blueberry Burst 4. Pelham Blue 5. Oxblood 6. Ocean Blue 7. Inverness Green 8. Amber 9. Cardinal Red 10. Fuchsia 11. Ebony 12. Classic White

I've got a sparkling burgundy epi LP modern and having replaced the plastics to white with a perloid scratch plate, was already in front of Gibson's thinking here. Agreed, it is a great colour.
Good show! The natural backs work for some of the colors ("appetite" color in particular was my fave match) but it really let's down some of the other colors especially the ebony.
A few of these I really like. The oxbloods are my favorite. I bet they will age well. Glad we didn't put them on the bench or get a playing demo...lol Not ready from a 4hr Trogly movie. Great job glad you did this. You are the guitar unboxing king in my book.
what a great episode! i just ordered the ‘50s Ocean blue and it doesnt look at all like the ones you got. mines got a lot of brown and grey streaks and it looks awesome in person!
Not a Les Paul guy but i do love the natural backs. I Agree the burgundy was the nicest and then the Amber. I think the ox blood is basically for someone who likes ebony but with a twist. Wish they had some with P90s!
Very nice. I love Gibson's and all.. Don't know what they're asking for these, but with all the "quality control" issues present in the finishes, I hope they were _steeply_ discounted!
I'm glad you put the flashlight on the Oxblood at the end....because on my screen it looked all black....once you had the flashlight on it, I could actually distinguish the Oxblood color. The Burgundy is the winner...
The amber 50's @ 17:32 is stunning. That's a top that will show up really nice in stage lighting. They're all nice though. Thanks for sharing these beauties with us!
they sent you the good flame tops for sure. I've already seen tons that just look like...wood. crazy that they're upcharging for what's the same top as the Classic had last year
The foam block helps protect from jamming the strap button in the bottom of the guitar, although it would probably work better if it stayed in place. Thanks for the documentation on all the examples!
That was quite a haul of Les Pauls. I liked the oxblood finish and the flame not being so obvious. I think a similarly dark blue would work too. Generally I like the neck and the back being natural mahogany except for the black/ebony finish where I think having the whole thing black works best. I'd also like to see an occasional Les Paul with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. I know they did them for a bit in the '70s and there are mixed feelings about it. Plus there are maple necks on the LP Tributes and old models like the L6S that work OK.
I never realized how much I wanted an Inverness Green LP...it has sort of that aged Pelham Blue vibe to it where they fade out a bit greenish, and I absolutely love that... That Burgundy Mist is PHENOMENAL! The Oxblood was super disappointing, as someone who REALLY cherishes and seeks out the deep dark blood red finishes, that was just so absolutely blacked out that it's just too dark to really be red...
14 of the 24 guitars have some type of blemishe. I've constantly complained about Gibson's so-called "quality control." I've been burned more than once. That's why I buy guitars from Sweetwater. The only problem is that they use FedEx. When a signature is required for delivery, multiple times I've had FedEx drivers claimed to have tried to deliver, that I wasn't home. A complete lie. I was home. It's a habit with FedEx in my area.
I agree about those foam packing blocks. I actually bought a greenie and when it got here the foam block had come loose and somehow found its way onto the top of the volume knob. Of course that got smashed along with the volume pot. The dealer wanted me to take it and have it repaired and I just didn’t want a repaired 3grand guitar so I sent it back. Overall I was badly disappointed in the guitar. Finish wasn’t good and just didn’t play well at all. Thanks for the reviews.
Well, the Burgundy Mist was the overall winner, second was the 60s Blueberry. I caught the little "and here is the BECK" on the oxblood... nicely done 👍.
How are these any different than the models they put out back as far as 2017 in the same colors? I saw "new custom color series" and was intrigued by the bluneberry burst.. Looking up videos in YT led me to mostly 2017-2019 models when searching specifically for that color in the 60's standard model.... What gives gibson?
Classic White, Inverness Green, Burgundy, Ebony, Cherry, Amber are great. Surprised that neither blue finish got me. 100% love the Ox Blood Burst idea.

Love the ox blood. Just because it's so different
The sparkling burgundy is amazing
They look beautiful, but can't get over finish and binding errors in a $3,000 guitar
My favorite is the ebony 60s, the flamed ocean blue and the amber grabbed my attention as well. Ok the ox blood is very cool.
call it Fire Blood - brighter center with dark edges with the back in the lighter color and head stock the dark
My wife would be PISSED
14 of the 24 guitars have some type of blemishe.
I've constantly complained about Gibson's so-called "quality control."
I've been burned more than once.
I love the natural backs tons better than the red
That Cardinal Red is beautiful. Wow!
Thanks Trogly. You’re amazing. Thanks for doing what you doing!!!
Woah, that circle at the end! That was ff-in' awesome!
Yeah, killer ending! A spiral guitar arrangement
Well, the Burgundy Mist was the overall winner, second was the 60s Blueberry. I caught the little "and here is the BECK" on the oxblood... nicely done 👍.
Friendly FYI but it's Sparkling Burgundy. Burgundy Mist is a Fender color.
