The issue with Old Dutch is they are too hasty in altering key steps and ingredients. Half their chips are currently mundane but then they get some real gems like Double Crunch Ripple Jalapeno and cheese, All dressed or Sour Cream and Dill are their best. They could have really cashed in on quality and made bonus profits as more people stayed at home during the pandemic. They kind of threw that opportunity away
Canadian here I can confirm that the President's Choice chips are some of the absolute best you can ever find, and also some of the cheapest, and I've never understood how they manage it. I'm just worried they'll raise their prices or reduce their quality for economic reasons
It's exclusively about branding, advertising spending and competition. Always is. Like the Costco hotdog. I don't think they care one bit if they lose a little money on their snack brands as they're not advertised (much) so there's less cost to recover on that as they're in the store... people are going to look, they're all ready in there because humans eat food. Basically, it makes more financial sense to charge less for them. It's been over 30 years that they've been doing it this way. I think we're safe. Less money for the same quality or better has always been the idea.

My all time favorite were Eagle Brand Mesquite BBQ, but they have been discontinued. For plain chips it is hard to beat Snyder's. Both Snyder's of Hanover and Snyder's of Berlin are great. The fact is however, since 80% of the industry switched to Yukon Gold potatoes, it is hard to find a bad potato chip.
Chips weren’t a huge part of my diet thanks to my parents. On the occasion when they would show up in the grocery bag, growing up in the shadows of Old Dutch, there simply was no other choice my parents would consider. Loved the cardboard box packaging.
Just want to say, all dressed do NOT taste the same in the US. I'm Canadian and my boyfriend is American and the American all dressed are so bland compared to ours.
Old Dutch Salt and Vinegar or Dill Pickle chips are the BEST - better flavored than any brand I've ever had. They also have round nacho cheese tortilla chips which aren't as salty and have a better cheese flavor than even Dorito's.
Tostitos is a best friend to casual and social alcohol drinkers. They are so freaking salty alone that most of the alcohol you drink gets absorbed and removed. That's why I stopped eating them for my parties. I can't get drunk.
Old Dutch has the best ketchup chips by far. They taste like ketchup, rather than the oddly purple Lays ketchup chips. But all of their other chips are blah.
Sorry but of all the chip brand we have in PA Middleswarth is down near the bottom in my opinion. Sorry. I like Martin bbq Waffle, Utz reg, bbq, s,c&o and plain ripples, dieffenbach's kettle cooked, and gibbles cheese puffes. Though you must agree most of the country is missing out on some good chips.

Sad fact is for 20 years all that I would eat were Lays. Something happened and Lays flavor declined so I switched to Ruffles. Now my favorite plain chips are from the dollar store. They are more crisp and less salty. Nothing beats Original nacho Doritos, plain Fritos and plain Pringles.
I found it odd that Old Dutch were ranked last yet the video made no mention of their snack line of products. The video focused on the potato chips Old Dutch sell but what about Arribas, Popcorn Twists, Dutch Crunch, Ridgies, Crunchys, etc that make up the brand as a whole. The box chips they produce also need a mention. How can you compare Old Dutch as a company versus Doritos, Sun Chips, Cheetos, Lays, etc separately as they all fall under the Frito Lay umbrella? Also, there were many brands left out of the list. What about Utz?
Its funny they say Tostitos don't have taste and that they are "are just for dipping", when here in Mexico we have flaming hot Tostitos, jalapeño Tostitos, etc... They are also quite popular here with or without "dipping"
Walmart sells cheese balls in a canister for about 7 bucks,it’s a jumbo container,about 70 servings,they’re very good,never get Walgreens cheese balls, slimy,tasteless,those too,get a slimy liquid if left uneaten.
The thing about O'Grady's is they were super-thick. It was almost like a different thing entirely than ordinary potato chips. It changes both the texture and the flavour when the chip is really thick. Unfortunately, the modern trend is to super-thin, like kettle-cooked chips. Those are good, but it means you can't find the really thick-cut chips any more. Herr's is probably the closest, but you can't find them in most places.
Really should've done just potato chips, could've looked at local favorite brands. Plus then could do separate videos on tortilla chips and ones that just do not fit into the other categories.
@@BabbleTop The Government of Canada ordered them to put less sodium into the chips and the result was horrible. That's what a Old Dutch delivery driver told me. Since i asked why they tasted so different.
clearly they never heard of Taco Works, those tortilla chips can be enjoyed on their own. as for tostitos, their salsa verde is one of my favorite chips ever
Lay's is usually an awesome choice. With the exception of their cappuccino flavored chips. Somebody at work brought in a few unopened bags of them and they eventually found their way into the garbage can 🤢🤮😄

My favourite chips are Miss Vicki's Sweet Chili and Sour Cream, Hawkins Cheezies*, Cape Cod low fat kettle chips, Humpty Dumpty Ched-a-Corn*, Ruffles sour cream and bacon, and PC Loads of Ketchup*. * = Only in Canada, eh. I don't like Lays and Cheetos as they mostly rely on MSG for flavour. Shame. Shame.

Why in the world are people bothered by noises? I don't get it. The only time loud chip bags are an issue is when you're trying to stealth eat an entire bag at midnight.
Where I live Nacho Cheese Doritos are the top selling chip, and all the rest aren't even close in terms of numbers. Old dutch are actually quite popular where I live still. I actually love tostitos by themselves. You forgot the Au gratin ruffles.

Lays were at one time were great however they are not that good anymore.

Where I live Nacho Cheese Doritos are the top selling chip, and all the rest aren't even close in terms of numbers. Old dutch are actually quite popular where I live still. I actually love tostitos by themselves. You forgot the Au gratin ruffles.
