- I love the sound of these engines!
It was a pretty chilly morning in Harbor Springs, MI and the batteries were showing just a touch low.
I'd never used the JumpStart feature on my Best Tugs before but I thought I'd help those sweet GE|Honda Aero engines out just a bit. Turns out that it works great and I'll definitely use it again.

Interesting. Yea it sux on having to do that when it's cold outside. #salute!!!!!
No doubt
That looks like my home HS, MI.
Yep
@@bluemaxsix I work over at Fresh Air Aviation. Nice Honda Jet! Thanks for sharing
Loving the colours of both for the jet & the trees.
Not sure why but I got the urge to run around the back with a hotdog lol.
Hah. Yep I hear you. Wasn't my 1st choice but the view from the cockpit is amazing
awesome!!!
Thanks. Love that sound.

I think I'll download it and use it when I crank up the ole 182
😜🤪😝
The real big deal is that I now how computer sorted out and am back in the content creation business!
You know it gets a lot colder in Michigan than it does in Virginia
@tucksmith8300 So I'm told! I've been up here a handful of times midwinter and it's always completely nuts. #surfaceofthemoon
Nice to see content from your channel. A chilly but gorgeous Honda jet with an awesome sounding set of jets. Do you jump start with air pressure or additional electrical power?
Thanks. More content in the works. Glad you asked, when I was flying the Apache in the Army, we used air to turn our starters motors. In the HondaJet, it's just a boost of power. Normally my batteries handle things just fine. Truth is that I left a light on that drained them a little bit. 23.5 volts are required for start and I was at 23.4. The Best Tug Jump Start feature worked out great considering my FBO doesnt have a GPU
Ours struggled the other morning with temp of 45! Time to put the heater back on it, but here in the Ozarks it could be 70 one minute and snowing the next. lol
Well the truth is that I left the door open and the batteries attached which was the real culprit. I just wanted to blame it on the cold. I've never had an issue with the dual-batteries. Thanks.
What's the risk of trying to start one engine with a slightly low or on the edge of low battery vrs a battery that is truly low?
Ahhh great question. Sometimes this jet is too smart for it's own good. The limit is 23.5 volts and that's across 2 batteries. When it's sees less than that, the FADEC aborted the start sequence.
So there's no 'squeaking by' on this one. I was showing 23.4 and 23.3 and I'll admit, I gave it a try. Nope. So with no GPU on my field, I remembered the Jump Start feature on the tug and it worked great.
Started #1 and let the generator pick up the load and the amps settle. Then I started #2 and let the system charge for about 8-9 mins.
I wondered if that was the case. Honda is like that. They know what we will try. 😅
Sometimes the tech is too smart for us!! I see this alot in the heavy jets, further more the new tech avionics will shut down if you go below voltage, gotta love standby instruments.
