I always enjoy your travels. Thanks for giving me your insight on this little part of Alberta. We've been so inspired by slow TV. Thanks for showing us it's beauty and making such a pleasing film to watch. All the best to you.
Thank you for the quality videos. Using your videos often during the Covid shut down. They make working out in the basement a pleasure by taking me into a much wider world.
If I only lived there and walked them thar trails, I’d be jumping in that beautiful water as I walked the trail. I love the mountainous view & the resolution in the trees!!!
This and talking to God and listening to Him will relax me to sleep. Thank you God for your beautiful nature that you gave us to enjoy. Help us to take better care of it. We have done so much wrong to it and to you. Please forgive us. In Jesus Name, Amen.
I've done this hike. I moved from Ontario to Alberta and fell in love with hiking. I did the Kootenays often. Now I've been living in Vancouver for the past 4 years and the hiking is beautiful - but it just isn't the same. I hate the winters in AB, but man, I miss the back-country. If I could get a job in AB equal to what I have in Van, I think I'd go back.
Thanks Lis! Because of the popularity of this hike, I've posted three more versions of it at TallSky. There is a lot of video of Banff that I I've not yet posted online, for lack of time, but will do eventually. Thanks for commenting and yours and these other compliments here are much appreciated! - James
Thanks for sharing this beautiful hike! I got a new treadmill and this was a perfect way to initiate it...I loved the actual sound and somehow walked for an hour (I guess the video looped haha). I'm looking forward to many more walks "with" you.
Thanks and I'm glad it helped. I'm working on a new version that is longer, allowing for a better workout. I'll let you know when it's completed/uploaded.
I tried this again and now know what happened...I looked away for a few seconds and youtube rolled me right into your hour long Oregon lake lava rocks video! I loved that one too! A longer one of Moraine Lake would be wonderful, or Lake Louise which I haven't seen for many many years :) Thanks again for putting this out there...Jenni, wife of Jeff who has the gmail account
My family line comes from Pennsylvania. I lived in Titusville and Pittsburgh at one time. I love the scenery there! I now live in Calgary Alberta. about 1 hour away from where this video was taken!
I hope it does help you do that. Writing from a personal perspective, getting "out there" into the wilds very much benefits me, because there are fewer distractions and noise, and plenty of fresh air. The distractions that do happen are usually pleasant ones such as roaming wildlife, vast nature scenes, and also some other hikers, who are nearly always in a pleasant state of mind themselves. Good luck to you!
We've just started to do a similar thing in European cities, how nice to find someone else offering something too. I enjoyed the video and have subscribed, thank you.
A nice hike but its a shame it is so short and there are so many stops, location is utterly stunning though. Had to do it twice to get a decent run in though!
I enjoyed the walk! Thank you for the video. I noticed your last name Beer. I have that name in my family line about 5 generations back. From Pennsylvania. Could we be related?
this new 60 fps thing with youtube vids kinda sucks, there's no 1080p for 30fps option, and the 60 fps doesn't run well, it's like a slideshow for my pc.. forced to watch this at 720p which does nothing for me next time if u could somehow keep a 1080p 30 fps option, that would be cool
What are the chances of encountering a bear on the trail between June - Sept ? Do you have to have Bear spear in your Hip Hoslter with a finger on the trigger every step of the way ?
Chances are slim but well within the range of possibility - enough so that you should ALWAYS have bear spray easily accessible from a holster. Having a finger on the trigger constantly isn't necessary, but making sounds around blind corners and when around low-visibility (such as when tall brush lines the trail) is a must. In areas of Banff where grizzlies commonly are spotted, Banff requires you to hike in groups of four or more, and there will be signs at the start of some of those trails indicating so. In the back country and even on most trails near populated areas, it is advised to not hike alone. On this particular path, there were hikers about every 3-5 minutes passing, which is a good indication that bears are less likely to be present. On this trail which goes along the shore of Moraine Lake, there is another trail that breaks off of it and heads up the hill to the right. At the junction of that particular trail on this day a ranger was posted there stopping any individuals or groups smaller than four hikers from going up that path. She explained to me that there were grizzlies active up that trail. All being said, I have to say that I still feel safer, while ALWAYS taking all the above cautions, in these areas than I do walking through many inner-city areas late at night, having experienced worse in parts of San Diego. I've had eleven sightings of bears while hiking and driving over forty years, ten black bears and one grizzly, and five of them are on video at my TallSky youtube channel. June through Sep, not sure if more or less. But I would take the same precautions year round. I've read of more encounters in Spring? Interestingly, when you cross the border stations from the US into Canada, they do not allow guns or weapons with the exception of bear spray, provided that the bear spray canister clearly states that it is bear spray and not mugger spray. Very strangely...rules for being allowed from the US into Canada are much much stricter than rules for passing from Mexico into the US. Thank goodness they allow bear spray in Canada or else it's lunch time. Oh, and yes, I carry bear spray (and then some).
I went couple of weeks ago. Did Six Glaciers trail by Lake Luoise, It was simply awesome with breathtaking views of mountains and Lake Louise view from top. Plenty of ppl on trail to not be too worried about bears!
What kind of stabilizer do you use? I know this video is several years old. I do my own hiking videos (please check out my channel and like/sub!) but I can't make myself spend hundreds of dollars on a gimbal, and the manual stabilizers are way too much hassle for me.
Very beautiful place. Seeing your logo though, is extremely distracting. I feel that if you are good enough people will follow and don't need to see your name and logo constantly looming!
I made an updated one with a smaller logo. I agree that one was too large. I've been trying to find the time to make a better one.ruclips.net/video/3rq1d3geo2k/видео.html
Amazing mountain trails winding through beautiful woodlands with views of majestic mountains and a gorgeous lake!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for giving me a beautiful world for my rebounding workout.

Morrowind looks much better than I remember
Beautiful hike, but when I walked those trails there wasn't a logo constantly looming. I would have found that off-putting.
The newer versions I have of this hike at my channel have a smaller logo.
Belíssimo.
