Great video. I just bought a 1994 Steamvac Deluxe new in box. I always wanted an old steamvac too. My aunt used a Silver model and let EVERYBODY borrow it, still in the family and works.
My old Silver model was the best they made. None of this "automatic tool conversion" nonsense that causes failures. Love the simplicity and durability of clipping the hose onto the front of the recovery tank, and give it a rest when not in use. As you show in this video, the hose is now permanently connected to the transfer port and rips itself apart every time you move the handle! Compared to mine, the new tool hose is just a flimsy condom with wire inside. My removable channel that connects the floor head to the recovery tank and can be exchanged for the hose coupling also allows you to defeat suction. That way, I can wet scrub the soap in and let it soak while I finish the room, then come back and restore the suction to do two runs of hot clear water. Hoover's way, the soap has about two seconds to dissolve the dirt and then gets sucked away! And laundry detergent works much better than "official" shampoo. And by the way, why did they replace my 12 amp motor with a 7.9 amp motor? Overall, useless gimmicks have displaced reliability.
You got super lucky with this find. These Maytag steamvacs are so much better than what TTI made. I’m not sure if it was just me, but I found the TTI models not being well build. Each and every single one of them had the clips that hold the hose randomly breaking off only after a couple uses. I had a Maytag steamvac, and nothing besides the clip on the dirty water tank broke. While the Bissell’s may have a more aggressive brush, they just don’t suck up all of the water. I don’t really like what TTI did to Hoover. The build quality got worser, the brushrollers aren’t serviceable, and they just don’t have the features that made Hoover special. Also not making parts for older machines anymore screwed us all. I would definitely use this machine. I mean what’s the fun in keeping this in the box? You won’t hurt this machine, and it will probably never need to be serviced.
Hey man nice find the older steamvacs carpet cleaners are the best ones and steamvac widepath and steamvac ultra are my favorites as well and I also used to have one sadly I don't have it anymore for years and I definitely looking for another one in future when I start collecting vacuums one day and that is a really good find brand new in the box they are sure are extra hard to find.
