I just recently purchased a new Taurus 942. It was defective out of the box, would not ignite any primers. Sent it back to Taurus, after waiting 3 weeks for an update they finally answered their customer service line. They said the frame was so defective they would need to destroy the firearm and issue me a new one, replacing the serial number. Wait 8 weeks for delivery and I have to do an FFL transfer AND pay for it. Just a heads up.
@David Mason Just saw Federal Punch 22LR in stock on the Federal website for $10.99 for 50. 22¢/round for decent self defense (if 22lr is all you can carry/tolerate) is inexpensive. And it's only $1 more per box of 50 than the CCI Velocitor. But everyone is entitled to choose their own preference. My concern with the Federal Punch is that it's only a 29 grain bullet.
Great review, thanks. I just ordered one after purchasing a S&W 351pd 7 shot 22 magnum that I was not happy with. The Smith was twice the price and I waited 2-1/2 years to get it. Trigger was hard in double action and the recoil and noise were too much for me to enjoy shooting. So my research led me to the 942, which I will probably have a long wait to purchase, but your review convinced me that I will be happier with the 942. I’m hoping that my wife will be able to shoot this Taurus, because she wasn’t able to handle the Smith.
Nice review. That 22 wheel gun looks good. I’ve done a fair bit of ballistics testing with 22 LR and short barrels on my channel and yellow jacket has stuck out as being one of the best. CCI stinger was really good too. Awesome video.
Nice vid. I have the m85 UL version and compared to Colts and SW the finish is rough on my Taurus. There were sharp edges on the hammer that I filed down with some fine grit sandpaper which resolved that. However it never failed to fire where my sig229 had some FTEs. The DA is heavy but imo that's par for wheel guns. Anyways, subbed.
I polished mine down to sparkling stainless to make it easier to clean. I also removed all the tooling marks which are covered up by the matt finish. I now know why they are less expensive. It was worth the effort, I may do the same with my other Taurus revolvers.
I've owned the 856 ultra light in 38 special and it was one of the most accurate stubbies I've ever had I also owned the taurus 605-357 and it's not any bigger than the 856 but it's nowhere near as accurate it has the same small rubber grips as the 856 and it handles Winchester white box 110 grain jecketed hollow points well now when you put the Remington 156 grain jackited hollow points in the 605 with that tiny little rubber grip it becomes very painful to shoot almost feels like it's ripping the palm of your hand apart thanks for the video
5.27.24....got tired of waitiing for a SS 942....passed on a Black 942, it rubs off too easy....should receive the Charter Arms SS model in a day or 2....gonna see how it works. Have the 856 SS 2" as well....❤ that one...!!!
The Taurus 942 LR matte stainless and the 942M black matte cost is only $15 difference. Not all that much. I had a harder time finding the Mag .than the LR. I love this pistol in Mag. with 8 rds. and would feel well defended shooting an attacker with more rounds as needed out of 8 placed in the their center of mass.
I've heard that about the failure to eject the spent cases several times. An older Taurus the Model 94 (9 round) doesn't seem to have that problem. How many times is that with any company they have a great product, then quit making it?!
Hey man, one of the best videos on the 942 around. Im having issues with ejecting spent casings. Have you found any solutions or work arounds to make it easier? Thanks brother.
I found with mine the ejection was also pretty stiff, I just had to hit the ejector rod smartly and they all popped out. The casings never slid out on their own, they had to pop out I dont know if thats the problem youre having but if it takes more force than just hitting the ejector rod smartly, theres likely another issue with the gun, maybe the chambers in the cylinder are not the right size or something?
Wish to have a two-tone of that… great table top review… hoping your review would be more positive or a flow of negative to positive part in the end…cause some part makes me wonder if ill get one ( hope you say rating on your review like 8/10 or 9/10 overall) btw its 8/10…. Work on your studio…(new subs Philippines)
If it makes you feel better I just paid $479 on GB because there were only a grand total of 3 on the entire site and none at a dozen online sites I usually check, Gallery of Guns, and the like. I emailed Taurus to ask when more of there 942's would be available and naturally they commented we just sent some out to our distributors which Gallery of guns is one of so you can determine whether Taurus is full of BS for yourself. 942 2" L/R. Buy the way the price I paid, $479 is more than $50 over the MSRP so you might say its a buyers market.

Eight of those .22 LR bullets are enough to stop most threats . I think that piece is awesome .
Id imagine even with this short barrel, stingers/minimags/velocitors in this gun would be pretty harmful to someone at close range
@@shazarad4127 Velocitors are the way to go.
The .22LR Federal Punch is also supposed to get good penetration.
@@aaronhauptman7833 if you can find them. They are also far more expensive.

the da trigger will be just the same .. but it does have more weight so that may help your situation

I’d really like to see that. Can you show it off in a video?
They are the same exact thing, except for chambering,,and the front sightI have both, and both have been excellent.
You can also get a 9 rounds 22lr revolver if you get the taurus 94 snub nose.
Great video! I will be getting the 942 as soon as they become available! Thanks

When you say smartly- what's your method ?
@@davethomas8459 I literally just hit the rod with the palm of my hand quick, but not so much that its painful
8 rounds of stingers or velociters will mess someone up for sure.

Fixed sights are way better. Those 942 rear sights do seem to drift a bit and that’s not good. I’d just rather have them fixed.
Nothing wrong with carrying a 22 LR for self defense just ask Ronald Reagan about 22 LR.
Mine shoots 2 out of 8. Doesn’t work out of the box.
2 1/4 @ 25 yrds with stingers is what I'm getting with mine . And the frame is to sharp I rounded mine off.
How comes you ve italian Army jacket ?
I buy a lot of surplus stuff
Taurus sells a tritium front sight for that revolver. Punch out the pin and replace your front sight.
this is the fixed front sight model unfortunately, there is no pin because the sight is one piece with the rest of the barrel
@@shazarad4127 I think the siight is for the 942.
So is it ok to run .22 short through this pistol?
I don't see why not
22 short will be fine to use it in.
That's a good reason not to use that cheap ass Agulia
For my part I use whatever 22lr the gun and I like:) Then of course clean it routinely.
