You just gotta love Rob... he lays out the verses like chit-chatting with a next door housewife, and then gives it a warp speed boost at ‘then and there’... he’s the vocal God!
Everybody has his/her own favourite bands. I too do love JP. But there are many other good bands - Aerosmith, Black Sabath, Deep Purple, GNR, Rainbow, Nazareth, Iron Maiden, etc. I like them all. 🖖✌️
Metallica does the same thing and is better. Metallica is better than Priest in so many different areas, for many different reasons lol. Metallica is so good, they have an album... a thrash album... in the library of congress LOL. Have sold nearly 3x more albums than Priest. They can sell out stadium shows anywhere on the planet, Priest can;t do that. They are a band with a net worth of over a billion dollars.... it goes on and on.

In the middle of a low note refrain just casualy belting a high pitch scream to say something to the audience like others singers would stragle to do live even if it was in the actual song. Rob is awesome
This was around the peak of the Metal era. I remember buying almost all of theirs and the Scorpions albums going back to the 70’s. I never saw Priest in concert, but they were a good concert band. The Scorpions were a GREAT in concert. They put on a SHOW! Fun times, back in the day.

This was my first ever meeting with a live concert. I was stunned. This is the pure excellence of music. It's devastating in the good way. Hail Judas Priest! 👌👌👌
Saw them in Charlotte, NC.... January 12 1983.....center of stage standing down on the floor...probably 15ft away! Simply amazing. I would pay a lot of money to be able to see that concert again (and many others lol) at the age of 17 and these guys at their absolute peak. So cool to be able to make eye contact with Rob and Glenn and get a nod or other form of recognition from them during the show. Crazy thing was the ticket probably cost me $12 bucks or so lol. Those were incredible times and I feel very blessed to have grown up then....no Covid...no real worries....just being young and free and happy and able to see some of the best bands of all time. 😎🙌🤘
THERE'S NOT ANOTHER BAND LIKE THEM, IM 58 AND i GOT MY MOM to BUY MY FIRST PRIEST ALBUM WHEN I WAS 7 AND STILL LISTEN to THEM A LOT AND I STILL GET CHILLS and GOOSEBUMPS,, NOTHING COMES CLOSE to the OLD ORIGINAL PRIEST!!!! THERE MUSIC is SO POWERFUL!!!! AND I SAW THEM IN CONCERT LITERALLY MORE TIMES than I CAN REMEMBER!!!!! I LOVE MY JUDAS PRIEST!!!!!!
This is a f-ing unbelievable rendition! JP at their finest. The showmanship is also incredible. Had this whole show on VHS back in the day. Watched it once or twice.
I was in a Concert in81' in Grugahalle in Essen/Germany. Opener was Accept...Special Act Def Leppard...and then Judas Priest...i felt Like in heaven..but i was 11 years old..... anyway, i'am still loving this Music!!! Heavy greatz to all....🤘
JP is my fave band. Saw them live twice (1985 & 2022). Great shows - but 1985 was better cuz Glen & KK were still playing in the band. I saw Iron Maiden once in 2016. This show is in my top 5 all-time favorite concerts. Just unbelievable how amazing they are live.
What a voice. What a song by his pal, Joan Baez, For some reason this version made me break down and weep for the pain this sweet man has gone through in the unforgiving and homophobic world of metal.. My hero. Shout out if you love Rob..
Hi, I can not calculate the times I've heard this song in different versions, I consider it a favorite center of my circle of favorite several songs of Judas Priest I like
In the way back days I had an ex BF who found a mangled little kitten in a dumpster. I named him TIPTON & he lived a life of luxury. He had a bum leg so we called him Tippy. He was the best cat ever! I still have dreams about him.
This is a fine example of how fungible music is and as much science as it is an art form. The original song was composed by Joan Baez is a acoustic folk song This has been rearranged to sound like a heavy metal song.
And yours is a fine example of what social media posts should be -- interesting, educational (I had to look up meaning of fungible) and with a touch of passion. :D
NOPE WRONG THIS SONG IS A CLASSIC JOAN BIAZ WROTE ABOUT HER, AND BOB DILLION I DIG PEIST’S VIRGIN, BUT GIVE JOAN ALL THE GLORY SHE’S LENGEND IN HER OWN RIGHT.
So many great musicians, singers and songwriters back in the day, what do we have nowadays, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake,😅 so glad i grew up listening to real talent
I’m so glad they finally got inducted in the rock roll hall of fame! They deserve it. I love heavy metal and I will always love Judas Priest. 🤘
I couldn’t agree more, Love them!
Amén 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Darn right! Now we gotta get them to induct Iron Maiden. Like JP, they have been snubbed far too long.
i wish i can go back to 82
You just gotta love Rob... he lays out the verses like chit-chatting with a next door housewife, and then gives it a warp speed boost at ‘then and there’... he’s the vocal God!
born to do it…so relaxed and in his element..what a voice, actor, artist !!!
rob one of the best singers ever , i was at this show , this song was a shock , and he killed it , still today 30 some years later he kills it
Where was it at?
hate to break it to you but its been 40 years even when you wrote this comment lol
No band in the history of Heavy Metal has ever come close to the greatness of Judas Priest.🤘❤️
They are my favorite 🤘

As if he wrote The Sentinel on this concert. Not that most of the riffs aren't actually by KK.

It's a crime this song wasn't in the best of collection.
It is somewhat inappriopriate to put covers in best of collections. I guess this is the reason.
If you put a cover in a best of album it makes the band seem less original
Line up is great! Glenn is such a great guitarist

Most metal live version of Diamonds and Rust I've ever heard
Check out the version on "unleashed in the east, live in japan" maybe their best album
Check out their rendition on ' unleashed in the east' , the production is a bit more raw, but the energy is amazing
But do you know who wrote the song without looking it up????
