The love of my life passed tonight, this was her favorite song. There is a big hole in the world tonight. She made the world a better place. Death Be Not Proud
I'm sorry for your loss,brother...but she lives forever,in your memories...Our dead, are not trully dead, unless we forget them...I know the pain,I've lost so many beloved ones...family,friends...Death,be not proud...
Rob is such an amazing vocalist. check out the depth this guy has, can sing ANYTHING, melody, screaming, slow, fast, this dude is the ultimate vocalist
Imo Ronnie James Dio was the best singer in metal. That man could sing anything. Now that he's left us the title of best singer in metal definitely has to go to Rob. He too can sing anything.
It is difficult to say what my favorite Judas Priest song is because they have so many that I adore...but this one is always in consideration. What an amazing band.
I first saw Priest in July 1980 at the Towson Center in Maryland. Three friends camped out overnight for tickets, and we owned the front row. One of countless times I've seen them since and they've never disappointed. So grateful to have seen this line-up in their prime.
awesome cover of the haunting 1975 Joan Baez acoustic hit. Even Joan was shocked and flattered that Rob Halford covered her song about her early 60's relationship with Bob Dylan. Judas Priest takes this very personal song up another level and proves a great song is forever, no matter who performs it.
I bought Judas priest unleashed in the east , I was in a record store, I looked at the cover and bought it ,and it blew me away , my favorite songs are diamonds and rust and green manalishi.
I love the original version, I love the Priest version, I love the Priest's Instrumental version, and now I love this version. Wow, so much things to love for a man that hates everything in world :)
Utter shock! I live on 5th floor, the chill along my spine went all the way to the basement. I was lucky enough to hear it live in 2004, and all you saw was dropped jaws in the crowd and I swear to God this song (and Touch of Evil and Beyond the Realms) hit all of us so hard we couldn't even sing. Seriously, and you could see big tough men shed tears and stuff, that was unreal!
You can say that Freddie Mercury had the best singers voice or our lifetime and that Plant or Paul Rodgers was the quintessential rock singer, but Halford is hands down the greatest metal singer bar none.
one of the best bands to ever exist. I wished we could go back in time and keep them young, but alas, they have retired. I grew up with them, I love them, one of the best front men ever to exist, the sound with rob halford was just so incredible. I have all their albums, and wished I had the first versions I'd bought back in the day, I've worn a few out over the years.
Man I remember my old man showing me this and he started thinking about how this was him and my moms song and just started balling from the sound of halford no one like him my dad passed back in June and I will forever cherish this song
I first discovered this video about 6 months ago and have been haunted ever since. Rarely does a day go by that I don't watch it. I still get chill bumps when I listen to it. Rob's voice is perfect for this song.
Rob is amazing... singers like him and Dio are able to just reach inside you and comfort a part of you nothing and noone else can, or inspire you and invigorate you more than anything other thing. Thank God for em, they are true heroes in their own way, I'm not sure where me and countless others would be without legends like Rob.
Rob, Kk, Glen, Ian... I am one of your earliest US fans dating back to 1974 or 1975. You not only made a few songs your own, you made metal your own in ways that will never be equaled. Unique is a shallow word, but all I have in this moment.
Love this tune! I was at the 18 August 2004 Reunion show in Toronto and they did the song like this....AMAZING!!! Slayer opened for them and i swear they were nervous or something...they weren't as good as usual....who wouldn't be nervous opening for THE MIGHTY PRIEST!!
without Rob Halford...I wouldn't have 5 guitars, a keyboard, and a recording system. He is my inspiration for heavy metal & acoustic melodies. THANK YOU ALL MIGHTY METAL GODS.
Never heard this before. My Lord, what a great performance. Met Rob numerous times in Phoenix in the 80s. Heard him in the studio with local bands a couple of times. Super, super nice guy.
This song always hits me in the Heart. I've had these radical supernatural experiences happen at least 3 hundred times in my life. I once listened to this song after a long enduring time of my life which almost killed me several times. Just like clock work that ghost came to me that very night. I ain't scared of them anymore. Got the Lord Jesus CHRIST on my side now. AMEN and God Bless you all
Three of the greatest rock and metal icons of all time performing one of my favorite songs I love you guys thank you for all of the years of great music
Rob Halford has absolutely poured his Soul out and bound it with Diamonds and Rust truly creating a version of this song that in my mind, made it this Timeless song in the form it was always destined to become. That being said... and years ago I couldn't comprehend that I would actually say the following ... but.... Ripper Owens on Live in London... Granted he is covering Halford's version more or less... Ripper nailed it... and the closing Scream/ Note/ inflection had the hair on my body standing on end , totally electrified with tears welling up in my eyes and breaking free down my cheeks... so Lamentingly sorrowful, such loss... my words do no justice but Ripper really poured his Soul out and I would almost dare to wonder what experience in life he was drawing from to release that emotional palllet with the song.. Rob Halford , is an amazing singer, the True Metal God that has had a massive effect on my life.. Ripper Owens was a great singer to fill Judas Priest's time while Halford took time after the Epic Metal Album that is PAINKILLER, to deliver us TWO, FIGHT, HALFORD, PANTERA - Light comes out of Black.. and many other amazing works.. Rippers Priest is a group of works that absolutely hold their own in my book and I am beyond happy that he did... Halford , DIO, GEOFF TATE, WARREL DANE, BRUCE DICKINSON, JON OLIVIA, and a few others are such incredible singers with such amazing content in their music. Don't read the rest unless you will read the first part again before leaving. that it sickens me when I have to hear the cRap they shove in our faces with every movie, tv show, dumbass at the stoplights with their trunk rattling with the same repetitive beat vomiting the same mindless nursery rhyme about smacking der bitch up and makin it rain in da club wit da bub getin wit yor boyeeezz gurl cuz he ain't taken care of hiz and I gotstzta getz mine... There's I another shit song missing one word that is repeated 100 times over that I won't say... plus all the yeah uh huh yeah yeah uh uh s...
That;s just fantastic! Such a great singer, and two incredible guitarists! Thanks for all the years of wonderful heavy-metal music! Judas Priest rocks on!
The important thing is that he's not trying to pretend that nothing has changed and sing in the same way. He re-arranges the old songs a little bit, so they still sound awesome! That's the real artist, who knows his possibilites!
Here is the lyrics I'll be damned, here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you decided to call And here I sit, hand on the telephone Hearing the voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Heading straight for a fall But we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Yes we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Now I see you standing all around and snow in your hair Now we're smiling out the window of the crummy hotel over Washington Square Our breath comes on white clouds, mingles and hangs in the air Speaking strictly for me, we both could've died then and there Now you're telling me you're not nostalgic Then give me another word for it You were so good with words And at keeping things vague 'Cause I need some of that vagueness now It's all come back too clearly Yes, I love you dearly And if you're offering me diamonds and rust, I've already paid But we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Yes we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Don't want no more diamonds, diamonds and rust
Which brings us full circle, and why I said the song is about dylan.. ever see dylan and lennon filmed together, while talkng a cab ride in london in 66, both high on H?
Awesome. I always thought Rob was, and still is, one of the great hard rock/metal singers. This shows his that his musical talents extend much further. Thanks for putting this up.

HERE IS THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG"DIAMONDS AND RUST" Joan Baez revealed to The Huffington Post that she wrote this song after Bob Dylan called her from a phone booth and sang her the lyrics to his song "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts." Baez said that this gave her inspiration to write "Diamonds & Rust," and that she lied to Dylan, telling him it was about David Harris, who she was married to from 1968-1973. Bob Dylan rarely reveals much about his songs, but his track "Queen Jane Approximately" is most likely his take on his relationship with Baez.
People saying that heavy metal is all about screatching guitars played at a million miles an hour and screaming singers should listen to this. I know the song isnt metal but it just shows the versatility of the men and show they are real musicians.
The love of my life passed tonight, this was her favorite song. There is a big hole in the world tonight. She made the world a better place. Death Be Not Proud
She will always be....
My mother loved this as do I...she is with your love in heaven.
God May bless you,and your love!
I hope the years have brought some peace and that memories of her continue to enrich you
I'm sorry for your loss,brother...but she lives forever,in your memories...Our dead, are not trully dead, unless we forget them...I know the pain,I've lost so many beloved ones...family,friends...Death,be not proud...
Rob is such an amazing vocalist. check out the depth this guy has, can sing ANYTHING, melody, screaming, slow, fast, this dude is the ultimate vocalist
He's the METAL GOD!!!
I love this man, my lord he has the voice of a heavy metal angel
Not to mention that he also has the ears of an Elf or an Imp or something ;-p
(Sorry Rob)

Imo Ronnie James Dio was the best singer in metal. That man could sing anything. Now that he's left us the title of best singer in metal definitely has to go to Rob. He too can sing anything.

I had this cassette in 1980
Thanks for sharing beautiful memories of your lives. Truly wonderful memories.. I envy you guys.

The great song lasts forever. You're totally correct!
The way they are, all of them ,so emotionally involved in the performance makes this version so above and beyond.
Utter shock! I live on 5th floor, the chill along my spine went all the way to the basement. Tasmar Vanderweghe yes
Yes
Freddie Mercury singing this would be very interesting indeed.
Considering JP more or less invented modern heaven metal, it is not a surprise.
With Ronnie james DIO yes
They took one of my favorite songs And made me like it even more.
Judas Priest is my favorite band of all time Rob Halford's voice is just amazing and we he sings with the band mates it is a unbelievable experience.
so wonderful, Rob's voice
Great voice.
Amazing
man what a great performance and a timeless classic by Joan Baez!

This is an amazing song and performance.
I recon Rob Halford could sing a song about paint drying and grass growing and it would be amazing.
I first discovered this video about 6 months ago and have been haunted ever since. Rarely does a day go by that I don't watch it. I still get chill
bumps when I listen to it. Rob's voice is perfect for this song.
After all those years, all those tours and the age of Rob.. I mean this guy still have an extraordinary voice. Extraordinary with all the letters!!
Nunca me voy a cansar de escuchar esta versión. Gracias
De los mejores covers que se han hecho de esta pieza
That tone. That beautiful vibrato. Incredible.
He is one of my very favorite vocalists!
Halford, Halford, Halford... =~~~~ Not words, just tears and heads banging can describe this Man.
I wish they would put this version on a studio album.
I wish, they would not only put this song on a album. I wish, they would release a full unplugged album.
Andreas Milde
My god. That is the greatest thing ever.
There are very few rock/metal singers God has blessed with the vocals of a metal Angel and Rob is one!!! Priest is AWESOME in concert!!! Rock on!!! 🐧🐧
I Would argue iron maiden, stratovarius, singer for rudi axel pell are all equal or better
Rob is amazing... singers like him and Dio are able to just reach inside you and comfort a part of you nothing and noone else can, or inspire you and invigorate you more than anything other thing. As simple as that, "Diamonds and Rust" brings tears to my eyes. God bless the trio from Judas Priest & thanks for posting.

Agreed!
Everything they touch is gold.
Here is the lyrics
I'll be damned, here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you decided to call
And here I sit, hand on the telephone
Hearing the voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall
But we both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Yes we both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Now I see you standing all around and snow in your hair
Now we're smiling out the window of the crummy hotel over Washington Square
Our breath comes on white clouds, mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me, we both could've died then and there
Now you're telling me you're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You were so good with words
And at keeping things vague
'Cause I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes, I love you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust, I've already paid
But we both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Yes we both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Diamonds, diamonds and rust
Diamonds, diamonds and rust
Diamonds, diamonds and rust
Don't want no more diamonds, diamonds and rust

The art of interpretation
Amazing version.I will see them again in March with Saxon. Can't wait. Priest are just amazing, better with age like red wine.
Listen to this, it's something very special!
a tear appears in my eyes ever time I hear this. Followed by goosebumps that feel more like pins and needles. all of which feel so deep.
I will be playing this when I die..and Rocka Rolla....
ROCKA ROLLA I think I will check out to run of the mill. Always best to end on a high note.
How amazing ! Tipton, Downing & Halford will always be the benchmark.
Splendid!
