There are plenty of anti-Karens out there, though. I'm a builder and I once mixed up a small batch of concrete which was way too thin for the small job I was doing, and I didn't have any more. The old lady customer told me to help myself to anything I could find in her garage - so I looked around and found the perfect material to bulk out the concrete. Turns out I'd used her late husband's ashes. I was mortified. But she was great about it - saying that it was the first time he'd ever been useful for anything :)

Sorry, one more. Just remembered this. Had this guy, kind of a creeper to be honest, who would come in and REFUSE to have anyone except me help him. If I wasn't working that day, he left. He also repeatedly asked for my schedule so he would know exactly when I worked (manager refused to give it to him!). One day he came in while I was on lunch, was told I was on break and that I'd help him when I came back. The guy agreed and began wandering the store. My manager just had a feeling and asked a couple people to keep an eye on him but it was a busy day and they had customers to help and they lost track of him. Cut to me quietly enjoying some alone time in the break room when this guy OPENS the door that's clearly marked "employees only", says "oh, there you are!", walks in, SHUTS THE DOOR! And proceeds to SIT DOWN NEXT TO ME and tell me about this project he wants done.
"Um...sir? I'm still on my break...and you're not supposed to be back here..."
"Well, it looks like you're pretty much done so I can just wait here til you are!"
Meanwhile I'm frantically pressing the talk button on my radio hoping someone, anyone, will catch on to something. Thankfully my manager comes running, (yes, running) because he realized he couldn't find the creeper and no one had seen him leave. That was the angriest I'd ever seen that lovely manager of mine. He told the customer he was not allowed in the breakroom, told him he would no longer be allowed to be helped by me, and told him that if he attempted to harass me further, the police would be called. The customer was angry as all get out, was yelling about rights and lawyers and lawsuits and how he hadn't "done anything". My manager pulled out his phone and started dialling and the customer skedaddled real quick after that. My manager was such an awesome guy! He even insisted I be accompanied to my car when I got off work by a male coworker just in case. After that incident, and another when one of my female coworkers was truly stalked (restraining order and all) by a different customer, all female employees were to go to theirs cars in pairs or with a male coworker for protection. Really sad it happened but really happy for the thoughtful protection. Also, all employees were gifted with free pepper spray!

Far too many places are concerned about "making a scene" and getting bad reviews if they don't pacify shitty customers. Any place that prioritizes the safety of their employees and doesn't put up with creeps is not only getting repeat business from me, but is getting recommended to every person I know.

I had one of those when I worked at a music store, except that he was our repairman and would come daily. He seriously gave me the creeps, would condescend to me all the while staring at my body. I finally told my boss I would lock myself in the restroom any time he came in, and someone else would have to wait on him. This went on for several months until my boss got a new, better repair guy, because this one wasn't very good. End of story....he was later arrested for tax evasion!

They should have never let him know you were on break in the first place and if he made you uncomfortable speak up! We shouldn’t have to put up with creepy men like that just because it’s a retail store. Nobody should be giving out work schedules or any personal info like that and managers should be notified right away(a good time for a manager lol) and all creepy shit these guys do should be kept track of. For our own safety ladies do not brush this behavior off.

when i was a teen i worked at a supermarket, a lot of times they would stick me on the "12 items or less" register, one night this woman comes to my line with a WHOLE cart of groceries when it was 10 minutes before close, i explain that she we'll stay open and ring her up, just not on my line since it's an express line..she didn't like that too much. she started screaming about how she had a party tomorrow and needed everything done and ready so i had to ring her out since the other cashiers had lines..one line had a man buying some cat food and another line had two sisters buying some movie snacks. i tried explaining again that it'd have to be seperate orders since i can only ring up to 12 items to then she starts cursing how "i'm incompetent and can't do anything right" at this point it's past closing time and she's still yelling and cursing while i'm trying my best to hold my composure. when all was said and done and she finally went on a different line i thought to myself "great, i never have to see her again" flashforward to the next two days and my friend invites me to his aunts party. HIS AUNT WAS THE BITCH AT THE GROCERY STORE!! the best part about it was when she brought out the dessert and said "look what i made" i politely responded "that was in your cart the other night but great job on putting the dessert on a platter." i take your entitledness and raise it with an i'm petty.

Arby's was my first job and we had SO MANY entitled customers. One of my personal favorites were two teenage girls that came in every week. They usually came back up to request new fries because theirs were cold or extra sauce or something, and management would smile and give it to them. The last time they tried this, they came back up demanding new chicken tenders because theirs weren't fully cooked. They had eaten 4 of the 5 tenders already, and we checked them and found no pink. We tried to reason with them, but they started yelling. Now they wanted a full refund because their chicken was undercooked AND they saw an associate handle the chicken with their bare hands. Mind you, the chicken is put into a 400 some degree fryer and cooked for 10 minutes, so even IF bare hands touched it, anything on it would die in the oil. But they were incessant and wouldn't stop yelling. When they finally stepped away from the counter, they trashed our dining room; smeared sauce on the tables, pulled out all the napkins, threw the pop covers all over the carpet. We ended up calling the cops on them and they were arrested and taken away. Saw their faces in the newspaper a few days later, arrested for disorderly conduct at a local fast food place. It was satisfying to see karma get them. I think all people should work in food at least once, it really gives you an idea of how shitty it is most of the time. And it makes you a more patient person

I worked in and managed a cafe for several years, and one time, a lady who came in with her young daughter ordered a latte, a steamer, and 2 bagels w/cream cheese to go. I made their drinks, toasted the bagels, put cream cheese in portion cups, packaged it all up with napkins and plastic knives, and handed everything to the mom. A few minutes later, she came up to the counter and started yelling at me for not spreading the cream cheese on her bagels. I said "Oh I'm sorry ma'am, that's not typically how we do things here, but --" and before I could even offer to do it how she wanted, this woman starts SCREAMING in my face and says "This is ridiculous! I'm driving! How am I supposed to spread the cream cheese on my bagel while I'm driving!? What is wrong with you? Are you stupid? Don't argue with me! Just spread the cream cheese on my bagel!" The whole time, her daughter is turning bright red and looks totally mortified. Like first of all, I wasn't arguing with her. I was simply letting her know this was standard procedure, so unless requested otherwise, this is what to expect when ordering in the future. Besides that, in the time it took her to complain and yell at me, she could've just spread the cream cheese on her bagels herself.... Anyways, I looked at the mom and said "Gladly," went to the kitchen, and did what she wanted. Then when I came back with her food she said "I really hope you don't treat all of your customers like this, because it's ridiculous" I handed her the food, smiled and said "I really hope you don't act like this everywhere you go, because you're the kind of person that gets their food spit in. Have a nice day." Then I told my coworker that I was taking a break and just walked away. For the record, I did NOT spit in her food. I have NEVER done anything like that, and NEVER would, but the look on her face was priceless. As I was leaving, she demanded to speak to the manager, to which my coworker responded "umm he is the manager..." 😂😂😂

She insisted on having the blinds Closed and the lights off. She also insisted the office only played classical music even though she was going to be listening to her own play list from her phone... She also wanted us to provide her with tinted eye protection that had never been used by a previous patient (all eye protection is cleaned after every use).
When I put in her cheek retractors she insisted I take them out and bleach her teeth without them in because they made her “look ugly”. I explained to her that they were necessary for the appointment to protect her lips and gums from the bleach. I made sure to explain that the bleach would burn her and I reminded her that she signed paperwork stating that she understood the risks. She decided to move on with the appointment and continue to suffer “looking ugly” for a short time.
After I applied the protective barrier to her gums (which is a vibrant blue color) and applied the vibrant red bleach to her teeth, I turned around to the computer to enter a couple of notes.
The next thing I know she is screaming. The patient had taken a selfie was completely mortified by how she looked so she had decided to remove the cheek retractor. The bleach I had applied to her teeth was now all over her fingers, gums, lips, and tongue. They were burning her pretty badly.
Once we were able to get her calmed down and her all cleaned up, she yelled at me for allowing her to take the cheek retractor out and told me I should have told her what would happen if she did... I again reminded her of the paperwork she signed and the warning I gave her when she wanted me to bleach her teeth without the retractor. When she realized she was acting ridiculous, she justified her actions by saying she didn’t like how ugly it made her feel. Then she started crying because she had burned the hell out of her mouth right before her wedding.
Her wedding was two days later. Hopefully she healed up so she could look pretty on her big day, and hopefully she learned a valuable lesson.

I’ve worked in customer service for 8 years, but this is one of the most memorable stories.
I worked at build a bear workshop during the “pay your age” event. It was an event to launch the new birthday bear and a child could pick any bear and the cost of the bear (without accessories) will be their age. [ex. A five year old picks out a $30 bear and the parents pay $5 for the bear only.]
Due to the extreme volume of the event (our store sold over a couple thousand bears that day. The line was wrapped around the second floor of the mall.) we cut off the line at 5 pm so we can service every person who has been in line since 5am. Those who were behind the cut off point were given a coupon for $20 off of a single bear. One coupon per family, each with a unique code, and you had to be in line to receive one.
A few days after the event, we had released brand new bears and they WERE NOT included in the coupon. (As stated in the fine print on the front of the coupon -ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT) the fine print wasn’t even that small, size 10 font at least.
The amount of Karen’s that came into the workshop and YELLED at me because their child wanted a bear that was clearly stated it wasn’t part of the event promotion, endless. The next two months after the event we’re a disaster.
People were posting photos of their coupon online, which wouldn’t be valid due to the fact that it’s a unique code per coupon and you could only receive a coupon if you personally stood in line. People became irate about that.
Then people would come in with photocopies of the single coupon because they had “multiple children and it wouldn’t have been fair”… still invalid. Each coupon can only be used once.
Some parents would instruct their children to cry because the new release bears weren’t included in the coupon, or that they couldn’t get a $5 bear because their coupon was invalid, or that the accessories weren’t included in the coupon….
It clearly stated on the front of the coupon in big blue lettering that the coupon was “$20 off of a single BEAR” then in smaller print on the front (paraphrased) “bears released after the event are unable to use the coupon, coupon can not be used on accessories, coupon can not be used on a bear less than $5, coupon can only be used once, coupon has a unique coupon code and can’t duplicate” then an expiration date that was 2 months after the event.
This was the worst event I’ve ever worked. My hands were bloody due to the ties on the back of the bears, we didn’t really get breaks, we worked 12 hr shifts, children were destroying the store, people were complaining about how crowded it was, etc. this single event has greatly contributed to my pure hatred of the human race.
Please- to all the Karen’s. READ YOUR GD COUPON.

If people from my store wanted to go to the food court during lunch we’d have to walk past the build a bear, so I could see there were employees trying to manage the line a mile away, passing gummy bears out to the crying kids in line. They looked so exhausted that at one point I stopped and asked how one female employee was doing. She looked like she wanted to cry, said thanks for checking on her, and offered me a gummy bear lol. That event was such a brutally bad idea, I really felt for you guys.

When I had first started working, maybe 1-2 weeks in, I had a woman come in to return milk. I worked at a CVS, mind you. I was NOT familiar with their return policy when it came to food products and I didn't want to get in trouble, so I asked her if she would mind waiting a minute for me to contact my manager to see what I should do.
Long story short, she didn't want to wait one minute. She started screaming at me for not just refunding her the milk and I explained I was new and just wasn't sure the policy on it and wanted to double check, but she raged at me and stormed out. She left the milk in FRONT of the store and then called to complain to my manager about me. My manager kind of rolled her eyes during the phone conversation.
Eventually her husband came in. Thankfully he was really nice and apologized to us about his wifes behavior. I gave him the refund for the milk, since I knew I could at that point, and he left. If she would have waited like just a few seconds, she would have gotten her refund. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I really was just new and hadn't yet had someone ask me about refunding food or dairy products.
The only other bad experience I had working retail was when our CVS started selling netbooks. A woman came in to return one and as per policy we checked the box. The netbook inside was literally a completely different brand than the one we sold so I told her we wouldn't be giving her a refund. She accused me of calling her a liar. Freaked out on me and stormed out, claiming she'd just go to another CVS. I called all the CVS' in our area and warned them.

That's the thing. It doesn't matter how new you are, what your position is, what store you work in, none of that matters. To entitled people, all that matters is telling them what they want to hear, and "give me just a minute to check with my manager about the return policy" isn't what she wanted to hear. Why? Because she likely thought your manager would tell you not to do it. I would have said what you look like doesn't matter, but entitled people can use, have used, and will continue to use age, physical appearance, gender and/or race against people, like any of it has anything to do with the company's policies.

I have two entitled stories that still anger me to this day.
I used to work at a sports clothing store. One day this guy comes in with running shoes in a bag. When he showed us the bag, they were MUDDY. Like covered all over the shoes. He wanted a refund because it gave him blisters. He also said he ran with them for like several kilometers the follow day that he got them. He argued that because he is a frequent runner this never happens to him, even though you need to break in shoes first... before you run for that long. Me and my manager said no. He went to corporate and got his refund.🙃
Second story was at the same store. I worked near a busy highway so recieving foreign tourists was frequent and normal. We do sales sometimes around holidays that if you spend more you save more. Few days later after our sale a lady comes in demanding a refund or to lower the price because she bought an item when there wasn't a sale. When she found out that we had one she acted like we scammed her or something.🙄 I told her we can not do that and it would not be fair to other customers. She continues to argue with me, I get my supervisor he tells her the same thing. She then wants to talk to the manager who didn't want to come out and wanted me to deal with her. Finally I asked my manager to go speak with her because she refuses to leave without speaking to the manager. My manager then flips shit and yells at me for not dealing with the situation myself.🙃
Fuck my managers Ken and Amy.

She says at least half a day and they're like omg why? Then after she tells them the cost they start moaning about that too. She had a bride who bought a cake from another store, she cheapened out and ended up with a plain white cake so brought it to my mum's shop and wanted her to add nice piping, gold leaf, a bride and groom came topper, ribbon and to have the use of one of the metal cake stands for her wedding. My mum told her like £40 all in and this crazy woman explode, berated my mum for 'taking advantage of a bride a day before her wedding'. She then screamed that she brought her own cake so why is she paying for X,Y and Z.Sad thing was my mum charged only for the bits like ornaments and gold leaf, she didn't charge a penny for the stand or labour. This charming bride also tried to steal the cake stand, literally a metal frame useless for everything except cakes. Some years back, I overheard an angry mother berating a store employee at Chapters because her daughter cried while reading a Dear Canada book and the mum went ballistic saying that she wants the entire series to be banned because it 'traumatized her daughter'. I grew up with Dear Canada and adored that series when I was a child myself. Death is just a fact of life and I believe the book that the child had been reading was the one with the Loyalist family running to Canada and the baby sibling of the main character died during that journey. Instead of opening up a conversation with her daughter, including the history and the other facts of life, mum took her daughter back to the bookstore and demanded that the store ban an entire series of books. My great grandfather was a history nerd, albeit, he knew more European history and could talk for hours about anything to do with European history. He was great explaining the European scene when it came to the French-Indian wars (or the Seven Years' War if you are European). Never once did my mother or my grandparents ever get angry because I got upset while reading a book. So this mother that did opened up an important conversation that my grandma (retired librarian) had with me about the dangers of literary censorship.

When I was younger and worked in a drugstore/grocery, a young man came to my register with a 12-pack of beer and a woman who looked old enough to be his mother. Problem was, his I.D. showed that he was only 17, and by law we cannot sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 or to anyone if we reasonably suspect they are buying it for a minor. He handed the beer and his cash to the woman, and she started screaming, threatening lawsuits and trying to swing at me when I refused to sell it to her. The manager saw what was going on, called the police and then came down while she was still screaming at me. The police showed up, and it turned out she had a couple of outstanding warrants. In this case, not only was the customer not right, but the customer was not free... for a couple of years or so.

While working at a garden center during high school, I once had a woman try to tell me that the tree she wanted was on sale, when I knew it wasn't on sale because I HAD TAGGED EVERYTHING ON SALE WITH A COLORED TAG, and I knew this species of tree wasn't included in the sale. She wanted to know how I knew, so I explained my someone eccentric way of identifying sale items. It wasn't the same as what the "inside store" used, as we had different tags, but I had a unique method, and as her eyes began to glaze over, I noticed that the tree had one of the "inside" tags on it - and I suspected the woman had taken a tag off something else to put it on the tree. I explained to her that the tag SHE POINTED OUT TO ME was actually from the "PETS" department, which I told her was not valid for trees, but she was welcome to buy fish on sale. I KNEW she'd tried to defraud us, but it was more rewarding to thwart her attempt and I really didn't want her going berserk over it.

I worked in a gas station and often had arguments with customers over cigarettes. The best one was when a regular customer asked for a specific brand and I double checked because it wasn’t the normal one he asked for, and he said yes that’s the one. Bought it and left. Half an hour later and two cigarettes gone he comes back and asks for a refund on the opened packet. I say no. He demands a refund saying his co-worker had taken out the smokes not him and if he had known it was that brand he wouldn’t have bought them cos they were one of the expensive brands. (Cigarettes are very expensive here in New Zealand btw.) I said no, we don’t refund open packets. He then has a full on toddler style tantrum in the store and said he was going to lose his job (as a taxi driver for a company based next door to my gas station) and it was all my fault because he owed his boss and he needed the refund. I continued to refuse. He eventually storms off after I offer to call the cops to settle the issue.
I later heard that he had abandoned his taxi at another gas station because they wouldn’t let him leave with a full tank of gas to ‘get his wallet’. He had stormed off leaving the taxi wide open with keys in it and all. He lost his job over that and I haven’t seen or heard of him since 🤣

My next customer arrived and at 7.15pm she called me telling me that she fell asleep and asking if she could come now. When I told her that I couldn't bc I had another customer, she was like "but it is only a blowout, it only takes you half an hour". Omg... One day I was helping a young gentleman (like 7 or 8) buy some Pokémon cards he was so excited telling me how he worked so hard to earn the money for this 30ish dollar Pokémon card set as well as a couple boosterpacks. A grown man I mean like late fourtys grabbed the bigger pack from the belt. I told him that it was that young man's. And he told me. " that kids doesn't need the set I'm going to make big bucks from. This set and I don't want to walk back and get one off the shelf 😒. Besides I'm the customer so I'm right." The kid looked like he was going to cry. I winked at the kid and walkied for and more expensive set and gave it to the kid for the price of the one the man took from him. I work up at the returns desk so I get to deal with all kinds of entitled people that think they are always the exception to the rule.
    Entitled Customers:
    Post-Pandemic
    1. I had a customer show me a picture on her phone, showing me her ten kids, trying to convince me to let her buy more than what customers were allowed once we had to start rationing most of our items. I felt really bad, but of course, I told her she was only allowed one of each (milk, water, toilet paper, etc). She threw everything on my desk, said she would never shop at the store again and left.
---a guy in his 20s thought he could buy one of everything, take it out to his car and come back in for a second transaction on the same day. Management did not allow it.
It blows my mind that people think that they are the only family shopping at our store who need necessities.
    2. Customers arguing because we are only allowed to cash up to $25 worth of pop bottle deposits.
    3. Customers arguing because some bottles won't go through the recycling machine to get their deposit. Mandated by the Michigan governor, we aren't allowed to touch the bottles or cans. "But you touch our money and the items we return!" I didn't make the rule, but we still have to live by them.
    3. The worst offense (in my opinion) are the customers that come in 2 minutes before closing and try to fill up a cart and do a ton of shopping...knowing that we close in 2 minutes. In fact one specific family used to do this when we still closed at 8:30pm. Another customer tried to do the same thing recently but he only needed two items. He asked if he had enough time to grab them and I said "well the store closed at 8:30 and now it's 8:33 so probably not." I said this knowing that the registers would be pulled by 8:35pm. Naturally his response was "I'm never shopping here again!" But they always come back...!
    😂😂😂
    4. A sweet old couple came in to return a few items. Took care of the return and I asked if they wanted it back on their credit card. They said yes, but the husband had used his card and he didn't have it. The wife asked if I could try and put it on her card and I said we could try it. A few receipts printed out. One saying it was refunded successfully and two printed after that and they said voided transaction. So I told them before they left. I said it may not work but if it does, give it 10 business days and if it doesn't go back on the card then accounting or management will take care of it. They seemed so nice and patient. The woman said it would be fine and they would call if anything went wrong. I told my supervisor and we kept all of our receipts and paperwork. That sweet old couple called I think 2 days later screaming and cussing because the money wasn't on their credit card. $42.15 wasn't a big deal the day I talked to them. But they cussed out one of my co-workers. I talked to them on the phone and as soon as they got nasty with me, I hung up. They called back, spoke to management (who they also cussed out) and they came in the next day to get their money. They were told that they couldn't return anything at our store ever again.
    Pre-Pandemic:
    1. We have a customer that calls us pretty frequently at night asking us to check prices and put them on hold for her so she can send someone in to buy them for her. She's disabled, so I feel bad about that. But she calls all the time. She could check the prices online or send her husband in the next day. We have humored her in the past and found all the items and put them on hold and then the next day no one shows up to pay for them.
    2. We have a customer that we call "she who shall not be named" because whenever we go above and beyond for her, every time she comes in after that, she will stop employees and ask them "Is Andrea working today?" (Or whoever it is) Or if she needs management (or thinks she does) she asks if they are working. 3rd shift management is always in meetings now whenever she shows up. I wonder why? She is one of the most trying customers. She loves being waited on and will literally take 30 minutes to check out at the register because items didn't ring up right so she sends them back and asks us to grab more items for her on the way back to the register.
    3. A customer once brought in a reloadable card that he got as a gift from his son. He didn't have the receipt but he said he had $100 on it. He demanded his money back, because the card wasn't working. I told him we needed the receipt. He demanded to speak to management. Guess what they said? The exact same thing. He cussed and stormed off.
    4. A few years ago a Karen came in wanting to return a straight talk cell phone. The store policy only allows returns on cell phones within the first 14 days. It was past the return date. She argued repeatedly, management got involved, and she was still told no. She screamed and cussed and said she would never come back.
    5. A customer once tried to get their money back on a "gross" birthday cake, but they ate the whole thing.
    6. The ever popular "I left a bag behind and it's your fault so you have to give me gas money because I drove 40 minutes there and back!" Technically that's up to management, but I haven't seen them do something like that in 3 years. But the leaving bags behind, unfortunately it does happen often.
Holy crap. I could keep going but I'm too tired.

This takes me back to when I was working at an amusement park and my task would sometimes be to prepare crepes. The customers would stand in front of our food booth and tell me what they wanted on top or rather inside of their crepes. One time, a family came up during the busiest time of day and ordered just a small order, because they wanted me to chop the crepes in half with my flipping tool for the crepes. Those things DON'T have sharp edges to cut with and we didn't have knives in the booth (probably for safety reasons). I told the customers that it wasn't possible to chop with my flipper, because the crepes would be to gooey with all the filling. So they demanded me to cut it on top of the hot stone pan thing before putting the filling on top and folding it. I again told them that this would not work out, because the flipper IS NOT SHARP and I could not just smack it down onto the pan. They didn't believe me and refused to leave before I had tried it. So i did, because the queue was getting longer every second. It was a mess and they were very annoyed, because their crepes now were weirdly dented and the filling kinda was everywhere, because I partly managed to damage the crepes a little. At least they didn't ask for a refund or a new order.
Another time people just couldn't handle not being first in line (because crepes cost the least in the park, they were usually the thing most people wanted to eat... So we usually had a huge ammount of orders to finish throughout the day...). So they got mad at us for not letting them cut the line and stole the order of other clients. In Some cases this happened due to language barrier, because the park was in an area close to the border.
Also great: We had to clean the floor of a second booth where customers could walk into and pick out mugs or whatever souvenirs with candy and glitter or the mascots of the park. It was very clearly seen when we started cleaning, so some customers had the decency to stay outside and - if they still wanted to buy anything - just ask if we could get them a certain item/set and we would happily sell them those things. Some customers didn't care though and walked right into the booth and got it all dirty again... And they would stare at you so weirdly... Like,... "Yeah, this is an amusement park... So how DARE YOU to be in the way with your cleaning utensils???"
On a much nicer note: Since the booth, I was usually assigned to, was part of the China Town-theme area and I am partly asian, there would sometimes be kids asking their parents if I was a real chinese person. I mean... I don't look chinese at all, but how should a kid see the difference yet if they were never told about the different asian countries? I was never mad when this happened and if I had a chance, I would explain it briefly to the child. But sometimes it was just nice to let them live in the illusion of traveling the world during their park visit.

Why would a man want to ruin a woman's day, who already hates the job, but is doing an honest job, want nothing more than a customer to be nice for 2 minutes? 2 minutes. What none of them realized apparently, is I knew the business, I knew their social security, I knew their credit, I knew their address. I never did anything with it, but still. Keep that in mind when you call to activate a card and talk with a human.

Omg I had a customer come into a restaurant one time demanding that I go buy her a bottle of wine, my shout, because 'all she wanted was a glass of red and I should go above and beyond for my work'. Our restaurant didn't have an alcohol license so actually even if she brought her own she wouldn't be allowed to drink it.
She was FUMING, but I managed to get her to order some food. Anyways she said she was vegan, so I gave her our (pretty extensive) vegan menu. So we bring out the curry she had ordered, she eats HALF OF IT, and then she had a go at me because she "wanted chicken in her curry" even though she (1) asked for a tofu curry and (2) told me she was actually severely ALLERGIC to chicken, then demanded I make her chicken stir fry instead.
It was even worse when I told her that if she did in fact want the stir fry, she'd now have to pay for both meals because the kitchen had already made the curry, and she couldn't just change her mind once she'd had half of it and not pay.
Her friends were so embarrassed on her behalf, and were so apologetic to myself and the other servers that they literally paid for their meals and hers, then left her by herself lol.

They just needed the reciept. They had thrown it away they were yelling and arguing rummaging through the trash and decided to flip it over and throw the trash on the floor, they got their refund and told us to pick up the spilled trash. On the cover of the Christmas wish book there are dates you need to order by, and a warning that collectable items sell out and may be on backorder. A lady called Dec 23rd and ordered a cabbage patch doll(It was the 80's and "that" Christmas) I told her they were on back order until MAY. She told me the sign above the pick up at the store said 2 day delivery. Yeah, to pick up an item in stock sent to the store..She screamed "You Killed Santa!!!!"

Her main and, frequently repeated, demand was that the finish had to be 'pure white' to match the pieces she already owned. After viewing every wardrobe we had she decided that none of them met her expectations as to the finish and left. Next day she returned with a list of five wardrobes (with photographs) she'd chosen from various decor magazines which she said matched her expectations, instructed us to order in her chosen pieces and inform her when they arrived so that she could compare them and make her final choice. She also informed us that she would, of course. expect a discount to compensate her for the inconvenience we were causing her.

Woman presented her card, I flipped it over to check for signature. No signature. As per policy, I asked for the ID. She flew off the handle about it and demanded I let her use it. She even said she could sign it right there and it would work. I said that our policy requires a signature or we need an ID to allow for the use. She threatened to get me fired. Her husband left to get the IDs and when he returned, she kept yelling at me as I looked at HIS ID and card. I processed the card and thanked them for coming. My manager relieved me of my shift. Dealt with a lot of entitled customers, but the day I decided I'd had enough was the day a customer threw a solid wooden pizza board like a Frisbee at my head. Luckily I caught it, but if I hadn't, it would have broken my nose FOR SURE if not worse. Never again.

Used to work at American eagle, one time I spent a good half hour with this man telling me we sold a pair of pants that we didn’t have. I love customer service and get a thrill out of killing with kindness lol. I was so patient, I had the store iPad out and scrolled through every pair of pants we offered at that time. Explained that maybe he saw a pair of clearance pants that were now gone. He was determined that I was incorrect and repeatedly told me so. I found a pair very similar to his description, they were like white carpenter/cargo pants. Really specific style and he was lucky to be offered something similar. He refused to consider that pair and demanded that it was not the right pair and he didn’t like them. I just stood there smiling like, I have given you many options, you have refused them all, would you like me to shit you out the pants you so desire? :)
Anyway like I said I love that shit cause they really believe that there’s more you can do but like won’t? 😂😂

I had a customer lecture and then get angry with me when I explained that the pet store I worked at didn't carry vegan pet food. She went on and on about the advantages of vegan food. I know for sure it's bad for cats and dogs, please don't make your dog or cat vegan.

Dogs (depending heavily on breed, I believe) can handle vegan if it's balanced right (your husky? Probably couldn't go vegan. Your pug? Probably could), and there are a very very very spare few EXTREMELY specialized vegan diets for cats, but they are vet-monitored, supplemented with multiple medications, and are only for extreme health issues, in which the cat's reaction to meat products is worse than the reaction to the vegan diet... but those again, are EXTREMELY rare, very serious and individual cases, and the special medications and supplements you need are $$$$$$$.

I think an ‘influencer’ got a load of (deserved) shit because she had her Fennec fox on a vegan diet and it nearly died.

@@Nicm7767 Oh for sure, foxes are a completely different matter- they're carnivores! As are wolves. There are SOME dog breeds that can do alright on a very well-researched and carefully maintained vegan diet, but any breeds closer to their roots definitely need meat to thrive.

@@Palitato Dogs are 100% wolf. They are domesticated and come from a variety of types of wolves, but make no mistake, they ARE wolves. Nothing we have done over the last X years has changed them into plant eaters enough to think it's worth forcing them into such a diet. I would dare say that since no breed has ever been bred over time to specifically eat a diet of plant matter that there is no biological difference in their physiology that would allow any breed to better handle plant matter than any other breed. On an individual basis, sure, one dog might tolerate plant material better than another, but on a grander scale like breeds, no. The size of a breed has exactly 0 to directly do with their digestive capabilities. How cute we great apes think a specific breed looks also has 0 to do with it.
I understand you said 'There are SOME dog breeds that can do alright on a very well-researched and carefully maintained vegan diet' but I think that could be said about any breed since it explicitly says well researched and carefully maintained diet. If it's carefully maintained, and researched enough then I imagine any animal could deal with most any reasonable diet since ultimately you can swap out everything for other things, but that would be a ton of work and solely for the benefit of the owner.
      Meh.

I had that happen to me too but told the customer we should boycott the store...they didn't like me making fun their frustration but they learned about mine. I had explained to them why there is no vegan pet food options for cats and dogs and they went ballistic. So I decided to embarrass them infront of the crowd they brought our way. FYI don't ask your pet groomer how to get your pet's coat shiny and healthy if you want to feed your pet crap and not brush their coat. I'm surprised I never got fired from there.

I cannot say how many times in the late 90's and through into the 2000's I had to educate people that in order to connect to the internet they would need an ISP service, a phone line, and a modem. Just inserting the AOL CD would not be enough, though that would suffice as an ISP and yes, the first 100 hours would be free.

I just quit my retail/customer service job yesterday! To be blunt, it was damaging my mental health to the point of crisis. But, I start my food service job today! I know I’ll still have bad customers, but I want to be a pastry chef, so I’m thrilled to get paid to make pizza and have short customer interactions 😁 I previously worked at a craft store chain where corporate chose to profit off the pandemic instead of help their employees. Not surprising, but it’s the reality. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I simply don’t have the personality and mental health for customer service and after putting up with it for almost 4 years and busting my ass for nothing, I’m done with that chapter and it feels so good 🎉 🍕
