2:26 In Australia, an artist isn't allowed BY LAW to charge less for a painting than what the materials originally cost.
I wish that were the case in the USA! So many crafters undervalue their work driving down market value and expectations for art prices, so no one wants to spend more than $50 USD for fine art (they should expect to pay $50-$100 minimum depending on medium) when they can spend $5-$40 USD on craft art even if it breaks quickly or isn't made with the same skill. We've become such a disposable culture that people are fine spending $10 ten times for something that keeps breaking, but ask them to spend $100 for a good item that will be permanent and they balk.
I like that law. But I wonder what happens to the artist if they don't charge that much? :o

@@Kayenne54that's the short answer, the long answer is I used to work for OFT so know Australian consumer law. Pricing isn't regulated in Australia unless it a 'declared' service, if it isn't businesses can charge whatever they want for products and services.
I was a server for 4 years. At the end of this Karen‘s meal, After she had eaten everything she ordered, complained that there was no bacon in her pasta so she wanted a free meal. I told her the pasta she ordered didn’t come with bacon but I could’ve added it to the pasta if she would have asked. Keep in mind she had already eaten all of the pasta before she decided to complain about this lack of bacon. So I told her I would get my manager for her to talk to since she already ate there was nothing I could do. She said “no I’m not gonna talk to your manager I’m talking to you right now!” We went back-and-forth a few minutes about how the pasta didn’t have bacon I even got her menu and showed her that that pasta did not have bacon and she never asked for bacon and she was not charged for any extra bacon so I was not going to give her a discount. And she didn’t even want to talk to my manager because he possibly would’ve given her a discount just because she was being a difficult customer. This exchange ended when she finally paid for her meal and I brought her back her change which was only about $.65 she said “no you keep it as a tip, in fact go choke on it” I said “ OK I’ll go choke on it in the kitchen along with some bacon” and walked away. The worst people I have ever met have been people I served at restaurants!!

Entitled Karen story. When I was younger I was a receptionist at a salon. A lady with her two children walks into our fully packed waiting area and asks "Can I squeeze my two kids in for a quick trim?"
I reply "Hello ), We will be glad to accommodate you. Unfortantly, we are currently at a 45 minute wait for the next available stylist. Would you like me to put your name on the waiting list?"
Karen "No, its ok, WE JUST WONT BE COMING BACK HERE!.and stormed out.
Confused by her response, I looked around and asked "Why would she think her children could go ahead of all the clients that have been patiently waiting?"
Everyone laughed and agreed.
I know it was unprofessional on my part to state that. However, I was just baffled by her entitlement that she felt she could just walk in and have her kids "squeezed in" before other people waiting!!! UGH!
I used to be a hairstylist too and in addition to her thinking she should be ahead of the line, I don't get why people think "just a trim" is any less work than a drastic haircut change? We still have to section off the hair and/or cover the entire head whether we're cutting a half inch or 12 inches off.
I love it when people say "Not to be mean, but..." and proceed to say the meanest thing ever 😂😂😂

The dog walker/sitter was so professional and still offered excellent care. I would hire her in a second. She seems fantastic. That “customer” was horrific.
$165 for three days is a sweet deal.
And she seemed confused. First her daughter had cancer and a couple of texts later it was her mother who had STAGE 6 CANCER!!! I didn't know that was even a thing.
@@soniainnit3773 I think the daughter being sick was the daughter of the "customer". The mother with stage 6 cancer was the mother of the dog sitter (though it seemed like the "customer" just said it to get stuff cheaper and the dog sitter said it to beat the person with her own weapons).
$300 for a painting of that size is a steal! Damn, I'd feel bad paying that much. The last commission I got was $600. Worth every penny.
That’s right, some artists sell themselves massively under price, however I of course have no idea how good she is. But a portrait of that size and three weeks of works, plus materials sounds more like $3000 to me.
I currently look forward to a big commission myself. I expect my go-to artist will ask for about $300 and I gladly will play and tip him.
The canvas alone is $250... I do my art digitally right now due to people not wanting to pay the cost of supplies plus my time, and I am a professional whom has worked on several motion pictures and I still get messages like this from people wanting stuff to be done for little to no money. It's ridiculous
The canvas alone was $109! So for $200 she's spending a ton of time and supplies on this painting and REALLY not getting paid at all. The nerve of that woman! She kept insulting the artist but then kept asking for her work. What a crazy idiot!

I have do admit: I got a canvas for the price of the material. I asked the artist if I could have a similar picture of a picture she drew for my brother in law (she married his brother) and since she knew I was a student, she gave me a discount without me asking for a discount. It was nice from her.
I worked at a local big box electronic store for several years. During one particularly fun holiday season, I had a really nice older customer come in looking for some items that were written....scribbled (barely legible) on a sheet of paper. It was a Christmas list for a younger pre-teen future step-great-grandchild. The list was all gaming equipment, the cheapest was $250 and the shopper had no idea what any item on that list was. I felt so bad for her. She left the store that day empty handed as we only had one item in the store plus she was a little shocked by the prices. She later came back and explained that the future family found out that she had money and the mother was wanting her child to take advantage of it by asking for the expensive gifts from her. She was completely taken back by the situation and I think just wanted someone to talk and vent to. She was so sweet.
Poor lady...probably lonely too.
That first story with the church woman who damned the artist to hell for not paying for her prayers...
He should have printed the conversation out onto flyers, and handed them out next Sunday morning in front of her church as people came in.

I honestly don’t understand why some people think that artist should work for free or on discount. I make custom animal baby blankets and I’m forever being asked to lower the price. They seem to think that I get my materials for free or that I shouldn’t charge for my time or the hand painted faces I do. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Raise your prices,then when they ask for a discount tell them the price you had on it originally. Best of luck to you 😀
You could put prices up by $95 above original asking then make it look like they got a discount and still get the real asking price. Shhhh it's a tactic a lot of businesses use to make money.

I am a baker and my prices are very low because I just started a bakery from my house and I get asked regularly asked did you raise your prices, or why is it so expensive. Umm because I spend hours baking plus the ingredients and I have come you your work so you don't have to drive somewhere and then the other half of the ppl say come on kris you have to raise your prices your baking is too good you are selling your self short . Lol cant please everyone but when I move my prices are going up some
I got a new retail job at petco and had my first Karen experience. She came in with her dog for a grooming appointment, but we dont have a groomer in our store so we were confused how she got an appointment. She went off yelling at me and my coworker, manager came up, turns out she had an appointment at pet SMART, not petco.

When my "potential" customers get pissed at my timeline or price of my custom handmade items and suddenly start trying to berate me. I always enjoy saying "If my art is so terrible why were you just trying to buy it?"

I used to do custom framing at an art gallery. People would actually walk into an art gallery and expect things to be cheap or expect a massive discount because they somehow thought they were "special" and deserved one.
The owner would listen to what they wanted and how much they wanted to spend and without batting an eye, she would tell them to try Target.

I got an irony for you. The one about the food delivery driver reminded me.
I was making masks when there was a shortage of them. I joined a mask matching group to get them to needed healthcare workers. After I got matched up I looked on line (out of curiosity) to see who I was sending them to. Turned out it was an orthopedic surgeon who just purchased a million dollar home outside of Detroit. Now for the irony.....

Everybody throws the "Christian" title like it's nothing. Why? Because most people don't know what it means. It means that a spiritual transformation has occurred where the Holy Spirit has entered a person and changed them from the inside out. They become a new person. The old self has passed away. Hence "born again". The evidence that this lady was only a church attendee and not a Christian was obvious in how she handled things. Her words were not from Christ at all.

My karen-parents-story: A parent once reached out to our highschool orchestra conductor because how she dare to call the concert "christmas concert" (which the school has traditionally each year) and play also pieces that are NOT christmas music.
I am so sorry that 60 kids had the audacity to work hard and do a lot of practicing and extra work.
How may we dare to also play for example film music and classical pieces and not only Christmas stuff.

Laurie Hand technically, at least according to everything I’ve read, we don’t know if she was a prostitute because we don’t know if the woman found in adultery in the 7th chapter of Luke was the same woman. There’s no textual evidence to support that claim. That’s a common misconception to portray her as the repentant sinner. It’s actually a very recent idea- from the Middle Ages. See the article below:

I absolutely hate it if a flying bloody passion when people use Christianity as a method to insult or dehumanize another person. We are literally no better than anyone! Christian churches, even mega-ones don’t charge to belong. She may be calling it Christian but it’s certainly not.
Sadly, those who’s god is their belly and who think their best life must be right now without any suffering…i.e., having a physical/human perspective rather than a spiritual/heavenly one. Ones who chose to ignore what Ephesians 1:3 state, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ.”

My mom's legal name is Karen ... But she is DEF A KAREN! She's blamed covid19 on the Democrats creating a conspiracy, she got pissed of at MY APT lease signing bc my unit got UPGRADED free of charge... Which she swore meant it was an unrentable unit n demanded my original... I went with the upgrade n she's apologized everytime she walks in to my amazing place lol! It's a constant list I can't even recall them all!
That first one blew my mind! The entitlement! The one about the delivery driver i kinda agree with. I'm a healthcare worker. Free stuff is nice but i'm not struggling. I also have friends who are doctors and they actually give their free stuff to people in need because they don't need it. I think its funny that everybody recognizes us as heroes but don't recognize the heroic actions of grocery cashiers and bus drivers. They come in contact with hundreds of people each day. Guaranteed to have been exposed to covid19 an average of 1x everyday. They also don't have ppe provided to them. They r required to buy their own while working at reduced hours and they don't get N95 masks either. I think we should thank them for their invaluable service to our country since we healthcare workers would starve to death without grocery and food service workers.
Not that I think anyone is entitled to free stuff but I kind of get were the guy/girl was coming from too. My husband is IT for the hospital and works all over it including COVID floors so he is at high risk for getting it too. At the beginning of all of this it was always thank you to the doctors and nurses but the support staff like janitors and IT were never mentioned, was kind of like a slap in the face to him. I have noticed as time went on more places started acknowledging more than just doctors and nurses so, yay!

I relate with the Karen vs Artist.
Someone wanted a drawing of two characters, full body, full color and detail, the whole package. When I told them it would be $40 they told me that was too costly, when I told them it would be over 12 hours of work and I wasn't even charging minimum wage they told I was selfish for charging people for my skills when I should be sharing them with those that are less fortunate...
I have to sympathize with the delivery driver, having done it for a year or so. The money we get really doesn't take into account the cost for car maintenance and gas. They are helping bring food to people who can't go anywhere during the pandemic.
I really didn't get why that was in this video. The delivery guy was right. There are so many heroes out there nobody ever thanked. Like the people restocking the supermarkets, because you can't see them as they worked double shifts at night!
@@SaheeliRai I think it was only in there because he took his frustration out on doctors and nurses. I totally sympathize with him, the only thing he should have done differently is to say, hey, please think about us delivery drivers, too. Instead of bitching how doctors and nurses are overrated.

He did acknowledge their hours, etc. I think he purposely brought them up because those were the workers that everyone was praising. You never heard much about food delivery, grocery store workers, fast food drive through employees. Just doctors and nurses. I always felt that ALL should be praised for what they did because it took everyone to make life work. A lot of businesses around me gave free and discounted merch/services to medical workers but left everyone else out. So yea, I get what they were saying. I guess he could have said it a little differently.
Thank you! I came here in support of that person as well. So many people were expected to work business as usual at the risk of their health (and the health of the people they live with), but no one said thank you to them, let alone gave them a dime for haz pay. I totally understand the frustration.
I never get the entitled Choosing Beggars that claim that being an artist(Of any type) is a worthless career, yet here they are, trying to get the services of an artist because they themselves can't cut it.

I hate the entire "karen' shit. Last week near our local village store a group of older teens stood around a woman's car, leant their bikes on it. Sat on it with their feet on the chrome work.
When she came out they taunted her, scratched her car and started to film as they changed "you getting mad karen???"
The guys from the store chad already called the cops for her, as they heard the commotion (they do also tried doing it to someone else ) so it didn't last long fortunately before the cops arrived.
The police said they have had 6 other call outs in 2 weeks... to teens being extremely antisocial, knocking people over and claiming they just wanted to "film Karen get angry". They also claim it to not be a crime to push people around so you can go viral "it's only fun yo!"
These kids were fined for vehicle damage, some others broke windows to get someone to snap at them.
So try to remember you see a short snapshot of an event, you don't see what initiated the event. These people always seem to be in the right place and just happen to be filming and someone got mad.
I know that there are horrible people out there. But these videos are always showing 1 side of an event.

I am a pet sitter and just dealt with an impossible client today.
This made me feel better. I am not the only person dealing with entitled people. Most clients are wonderful but you so run into horrible ones once in a while. She was disappointed in me when I stood up for myself. 🙃
There was a reddit story where the guy got a dog dropped off to watch at work (and assumed it was a colleague), enjoyed hanging out with the dog and was surprised to get paid at the end of the day. Realising she had meant to leave it at the dog day care over the road, he was fond enough of the dog not to mention it until she realised her mistake several months later. He asked why she came back the following Monday after she knew they weren't a daycare, she replied "Where else in this city can you get dog sitting for $20 a day?"
8:58 I can understand the frustration of this person. My husband who's the Emergency Management manager in our city worked from 7am to 11 pm 7 days a week for several months for the COVID-19 crisis. His boss, the Fire Chief, did get food for free and discount on gas. He worked his regular hours M-F 7 hours a day. How is that fair?
My mother is the biggest Karen I know. She once called my professor at college and complain. She was mad that we had group assignments instead of single one. The next day my professor called me out and told I was the only one doing my project due to my mother request. I was humiliated and fail the assignment

Wow as a Christian some of these “Karen’s” is a sad portrayal of what true Christians are. It saddens me because the real true Christians would pay what they are asking. My daughter just graduated from university and now has a degree in art. What she does takes a lot of time. My heart goes to all those hard working and talented artists.

My Karen story: in university I worked at a smoothie bar. A female customer complained that he smoothie cup with sticky and wanted me to clean it. I wiped it off with a clean damp cloth and gave it back to her. She then told me her smoothie cup was damp and wanted me to dry it. This kept going and going, and I was getting so annoyed that I rolled my eyes at her when she asked me about the cup one more time. She instantly flew off the handle and started calling me a stupid bitch and that I'm a worthless piece of shit. She started leaving horrible comments in our comment box and was screaming at me across the store calling me terrible names. I pulled her aside to try talk to her in a civilized way but she continued to call me a stupid bitch who is worthless and sucks at her job and should get fired... I told her to leave and went into the backroom and cried.
I'm so sorry for you, some people are terrible with retail workers or people selling food, they treat them like they are the bottom of the bottom of the human pyramid when they are actually doing a vital job. Without them those Karens couldn't buy clothes, buy food to feed their narcissic asses. I wonder if those karens have jobs or have even worked once in their life, first because they are super mean and once you work in retail you never act the same way towards cashiers, but secondly because they must have so much free time to have the time to do all of that! Even if I wanted to I don't have the time to throw a tantrum in a shopping mall or ask several times to wipe my cup because it's too damp, too cold or too sticky, I pay and get the hell outta here because I have stuff to do

Ugh, that one with the essential oils.. You know, I like making homemade extracts for cooking, etc. Homemade bourbon vanilla extract made from actual vanilla beans and bourbon is just amazing. Try it once and you'll never go back (vanilla beans are really expensive, though, so use them sparingly). And I do like homeopathic remedies, but they should not replace medicines without seeking medical advice. And i honestly don't see how selling essential oils can be a full-time job. A side gig, maybe.

When I was a kid the church I went to with my family sent out forma to ask how much people made weekly. I didn’t really understand how messed this was since I was a kid so I wrote my weekly allowance down. A couple weeks later I got a “bill” saying what my 20% each week would be. Absolutely absurd! I still can’t believe they did that. Young me was so worried I was gonna get in trouble for not paying the “bill.” That church did a lot more shady stuff but that one has stuck with me so much.

My Karen story goes back to when I was 19 and running a coffee shop. I had a woman come in and ask me if I had “things” for a coffee machine. We, of course, had many “things” for coffee machines. I tried to figure out what “thing” she needed. All she would tell me is it helps with the coffee.
I was getting frustrated because she was getting frustrated. I finally said, “ Mam, I wish I could help you but I honestly don’t know which “thing” you need”.
The Karen’s face turned red, and after a string of profanity, mostly insulting my intelligence, she huffed off.
I needed a double shot of espresso to calm down.
After about 10 minutes I calmed down and put on some of my favorite music. My Karen encounter was over…. Or so I thought.
I had my back to the door while I was making a drink for a customer when out of nowhere, BAM… something hit me in the back of the head.
I spun around to see angry Karen throwing packages of coffee filters at my head.
She kept screaming “These are the “things” you idiot!”
I was ducking and diving and trying to stay alive.
She kept screaming, “Ring me up! Ring me up!”, all the while the filters flew at me.
At some point during this insanity I contemplated using hot coffee as a weapon but I’m a good person and wouldn’t make it in jail, so I did the next best thing…. I challenged the Karen.
Me: Stop! Listen here, you have disrespected me from the very moment you came in here! I run this establishment and I refuse you service.
Karen: You can’t do that!
Me: Bitch, watch me. I’m calling security.
I picked up the phone to call Mall security and that’s when Karen’s husband came in.
I informed him security was on their way and the very embarrassed gentleman grabbed his wife and took off.
Oh, the mall stories I’ve got. Like the time a guy masturbated in my store, but that is for another day.

The dog story reminded me of this summer when a lady tried to get me to dogsit 4 Saint Bernards for the price of 1 by only listing 1 dog on her Rover profile. She got so angry when I called her out, for misrepresenting the particulars of our transaction. She tried to fight me about how my rates were unreasonable when other sitters on the app have better prices...then go to one of those sitters, lady! Arguing with me for a whole workday tells me you couldn't find anyone cheaper.

I want to know where doctors and nurses are getting free stuff? I could use free gas lol. I travel 100 miles/day I work to and from work and gas prices have gone up. Most of us still make the same as we did before covid19.
It's definitely not widespread, but there have been many (shamelessly self-promoting and publicity-seeking businesses) that have offered up and donated a variety of services all over the country, from free foods, snacks, supplies, etc. but the common theme seemed to be only when it would directly benefit their own business, and mostly only when people actually believed CV19 was a real and ongoing threat, not when it was starting, and not when people had the misguided belief that everything was back to normal.
You could be a travel nurse at that distance and get at least double pay.

I got yelled at by a Karen because I took a whistle off her 13 year old child that hadn't been paid for in my place of work because he was sticking it in his mouth DURING COVID!! Apparently 13 is too young to understand what is going on despite her 6 year old standing there completely behaving himself. She then rang head office to try and get me fired.

That delivery driver!... I am a nurse and what he wrote really touched a nerve.. seriously it wasnt a choice we were forced to work in danger zones without the proper gear and the goverment canceled our vacations, refused to give us a pay raise and only gave us 4% extra wich is 40$ for 2 weeks. Every toughtful free things that was given to us was really appreciated. He had the choice to deliver and he was safe in his car with contactless delivery.

I used to work at a grocery when I was in school I was a cashier. A lady came in and demanded that I refund the amount of her rotisserie chicken because it wasn’t good. I said ok do you have it and the receipt? She handed it all to me and I looked and it was literally just bones left in there! She ate the whole dang chicken. Hahaha I said no way you ate the whole thing so it must have not been that bad.
Of coarse she asked to speak to a manager and I called him and gave him death stare cause he was about to make me refund her. She was pissed and it was hilarious.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but a lot of these Karen’s and entitled people stressed that they are “single mothers “. It kind of makes me feel bad for single mothers who are very hard-working women. That stereotype seems to undermine it.

I can not stand people that claim to be christian and then treat others like scum in the name of the Lord! That’s exactly what pushes people away from God. If I didn’t believe and some “Christian” like that tried to tell me I needed to go to church I would laugh in their face! If you truly believe and love the Lord you try to walk in Jesus’s footsteps and treat all of His children with respect and love. No one should ever try to bully or scare someone into church doors. God is love and He teaches acceptance of everyone and tolerance of people that you either don’t understand or don’t personally care for their lifestyle because frankly the way someone else lives isn’t your right to judge or even concern yourself with. As a believer the way we live our lives and standing behind the messages we believe in is what should draw people to want to know more about God. Shoving religion down someone’s throat is disrespectful of what they may believe in and disrespectful of them as a human being with the same rights we have. Religion is crap anyway..I believe in relationship not religion! Sorry for the rant but I just can not stand seeing people like that!
