I live off-grid in the boonies on a mountain, and most of my "neighbors" are illegally growing marijuana and are not very friendly (understatement).
Each property is a minimum of 20 acres and it's very high fire danger here (S. California). I have a herd of 20 goats who eat the weeds and brush and keep us safe by creating clearance and defensible space.
A couple of weeks ago, my oldest goat (and the herd leader) died down in a ravine on my property, but close to the neighbors' biggest "grow" greenhouse. I went to look for him, suddenly heard a weird whine/buzzing sound behind me. The growers were following me with a camera drone!
Even creepier is that it was the same sound I heard right outside my open bathroom window a few weeks previously as I was about to take a shower one night. I thought I had privacy out here, guess not!

In the uk if a dog shits and the owner doesn't pick it up it can be up to a £1000 fine. My ex door neighbour was a alcoholic and would party all thru the night with loud message she didn't give af. One day I had a friend with benefits come round and we were having a nooner, she had the cheek to come round a knock on my door telling me I was too loud. So we got right back to it and we both got loud just to piss her off.

My terrible neighbor complained about the leaves from my avocado tree falling in her yard. Complained to our property manager so.much that we had to either cut the tree down OR pay the gardener to clean her yard. The gardener she chose was 150 bucks PER visit... For a yard that was 85% concrete!! When we told her she was a raving lunatic, she complained to the property manager that we had harassed her and threatened to burn her brand new shed.to the ground. Property manager said that the tree had to go and if we threatened her again, we would be evicted... So we lost our avocado tree which was part of our income. And worst part... She loved our avocados... She used to get any that fell into her yard, and when we picked them, we would leave a bag on her fence to enjoy... She bitched at me when it came time to pick avocados again. Said that she wanted the avocados... Ummm you complained about the damn tree 3 months prior... And I was forced to cut it down... She tried to.send me to the store to buy her avocados on MY dime! WTF. As revenge, i planted ornamental garlic along her shed. Ornamental garlic stinks like raw garlic and weed when in bloom. She moved out a year later. Love my new neighbors. She loves the garlic smell. 😆

Bought a new property, and we were curious as to where the actual boundaries were because we wanted to plant some trees along the property line for some added privacy. We walked the entire lot and found all of the permanent metal survey spikes impaled into the ground. To make them more visible we tied flagging tape to a longer stick and knocked them into the ground right by the metal survey stakes. Didn’t think much of it until we went to plant trees and noticed our one neighbour had moved our long, visible stakes well onto our property to make his “bigger”…. When we bought our first house (a twin), a lot of the neighbors, in saying hi and introducing themselves kept asking 'Have you met Martha yet?' Martha was the elderly woman with the other side of our twin, and their ominous question made sense after only a week of living there. We were awoken at 6am to knocking on our bedroom window. And Martha standing on the shared porch roof, yelling 'you need to clean your gutters!!!' at us. While we were in bed...naked but for a sheet. During the first year alone that we lived there, she called the police on us a total of 30 times. Always for made up stuff. The cops even caught her banging on our walls after they were called out for *us* banging on the walls ... You know, when we were at work, 30 miles away.

Had a neighbor that would blare their music practically all night long. Any time we tried to get their attention to talk to them about it they would just turn around and ignore us. Keep in mind that we didn't even know them and they were pretty young. I got fed up with it and called the police and then turned my lights off and watched out my window. They turned the music off after a few minutes. A few minutes later the cops drove by but didn't stop. After that they turned the music back on. So I called the police again and told them what happened and also said that a lot of people out were I live have police scanners. So I recommended parking away from them and walking to their house. A few minutes later I heard the police knock on the neighbor's door. They opened the door while the music was still blaring lol. Haven't had any problems since. 😁

Your neighbors are as crazy as mine! We don't grow a lawn because we live under dense oak trees and we haven't blown leaves in years because the leaf litter controls erosion (we're at the top of a hill and have had bad erosion when we used to try to tend the lawn). Our asshole neighbors behind us gladly blow their leaves into our yard but then grumble about how we don't do anything about our leaves. They've called the city on us more than once for the growth on the property being too tall (unfortunately that's a real thing here). They give you 10 days to fix it or pay someone to fix it (fun fact: Dad has Parkinson's and degenerative disc disease in his back, and I also have chronic pain issues); asking two disabled people to clean up a yard in 10 days or pay half a month's income to hire people to clean it just because your snobby ass doesn't like looking at some oak saplings is beyond asinine.

They tied our gate shut with a catcher leash and tried to tell us the pig was loose and terrorizing the neighborhood, gave us 24 hours to get her into a different foster.
We had security footage of the city officers breaking the fence latch, chasing the baby pig and the tie the gate up.

Recently, one of the apartments next to ours was vacant, then new tennants started renting it. They stayed in it for a few months, and everyone wondered why they were even in these - we're in low income specific housing and these people had MONEY. So, everyone was kinda hyperaware of them. They then, surreptitiously moved out. Then new people slowly moved in, every night for a week. Turns out they started subletting their apartment, which was illegal in this case. And these new folk brought some bad roaches. And they'd sit on the balcony, drink, then toss the glass bottles everywhere. And of course, they'd break.
We have a lot of kids in our area, and this posed a serious danger to them. Glass shards sprinkled all over the glass was a serious issue that got a lot of complaints. But we soon realized that no one was going to complain about these new neighbors, directly. So we did. These new people that were Subletting got kicked out and the ones who originally rented the apartment moved back in. Idk why they were allowed.
But booooy do they not like us. The manager never told them who ratted them out, but they seem to know it was us. Probably cause we're right next to them.... and prolly cause the manager is my mom's lifelong best friend. I've heard the guy cussing under his breath at us.

In addition to our local taxes to maintain and improve our cities there is a law which give the right to the city to decide of the price of the contravention for not picking up your dog’s poop in public areas and dog owners can also receive a contravention if they are controlled while with their dog and don’t have at least two bags on them to pick up eventual poop. I live in the south of France in a Mediterranean harbor city and with the temperatures constantly around 45C° and the humidity of the sea it would be an olfactive nightmare to live here. The cleaning service is here to clean the streets not just dog’s poop so they remove dead leaves and trash and if the area is a paved one they also use big trucks with massive brushes underneath which clean the pavement with water and an ecologic cleaner every night to maintain the pavement. But we still have a lot of dumbass who never pick up after their dogs so we often resort to threats and other things to make them stop (I personally put their dog’s poop in their mailbox or if I am in the streets I pick it up with a bag, call the person so they stop to walk, take one of their hands and put the nice present in their hands while saying “you forgot something, here take it”)

The neighbour wants us to buy a 10,000$ fence because he wants it to match the rest of the fence around his yard, but we'd never actually see that fence because it'd be behind a row of really thick cedar hedges. We said that if he wanted that fence, fine, but he'd have to chip in. Dude lost his shit and called the city on us. He wanted all or nothing, so he gets nothing. We're getting the chain link fence we wanted and he can suck it. If he wants that 10,000$ fence he can build it himself on his property.
UPDATE: we finally got the new fence. The part of it we can see is that nice wood version, and the part behind the cedar hedges (the part he can see) is chain link.

I remember I was home after school and my mom asked me if I drew on the walls. Turns out our neighbors accused me of vandalism! They lied and said they witnessed me drawing on the wall of the building! My mom told them to investigate the camera feed and then if they had anything to get back in touch. Safe to say they never got back in contact.

The first encounter I had with her ended with me asking her why she chose to live in an apartment building when she hates people so much. Her apartment is directly across from the main door to the building and she just rips her door open and screams at anyone being "too loud" - like by opening their mailbox to check their mail! Probably 6 or so months after these crazy people moved in down the street, they showed up at my house. My driveway is kind of hidden and is right as you turn the curve into the neighborhood. They said they didn’t know a house was here (I get that all the time with the hidden drive) and asked if they could talk. They basically wanted to continue my driveway out and build a fence so that they could use my driveway to get to their house. I said no. They have people coming in and out at all hours of the day and night (the entire neighborhood is pretty sure they are running a brothel). They then went into this story about thieves parking at the end of my drive and going around the neighborhood breaking into cars in the middle of the night. They said that they weren’t the only ones that had stuff stolen that several people in the neighborhood had told them that they had stuff taken too. I asked how they knew that these thieves were parking in my drive. He said we can see them from our balcony. Again lots of trees between his yard and mine not to mention that there is a hill between my house and the end of my drive. I can’t even see the end of my drive from my windows so I know for a fact he can’t either. I said oh that’s weird because I have a lot of family around here that I see regularly and no one has mentioned anything. Then he claimed it was the next street over but again I have family and no one mentioned anything. When he realized I was onto his lie he came up with this crazy story about someone coming into their yard, shooting their dog and taking it out to the main road and dumping it. They then asked about sharing a driveway again and again I said no. The woman then starts telling me how I’m an awful person and they are just trying to protect their children (what that has to do with sharing a driveway I have no idea). I again said no and the guy said you know your parent’s dog is real sweet I would hate for something to happen to him. They finally left and I haven’t seen them since. They also filed a police report against my parents (who live next door to me) in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm. Supposedly a limb from my parent’s tree fell on their shed. Must be one of those Ents from Lord of the Rings cause that tree is 6 ft on their side of the fence.

My neighbours threw loud parties almost every weekend last summer. Sometimes on both Friday and Saturday. They usually lasted until 2 or 3 am. They would sit in their frontyard and yell every word to each other. I heard everything, even though I had my windows closed (which wasn't fun, since summer gets quite hot where I live and it would be nice to be able to get some fresh air at night...). I sometimes have to work on the weekends, or, I don't know, sometimes I just want to sleep like a normal person after a busy week. I tried talking to them but it didn't work at all, which is sad since we've always had a pretty good relationship. I don't have a problem with people throwing parties from time to time, but man, if you want to party loudly, all night and every weekend, please consider going to a club or a bar or something. It's really not cool to not let your neighbours have any quiet weekends for a few months. There are many families around with small children, there are quite a few elderly people living here as well, just let them sleep. Be considerate, it won't kill you, I promise.

Same. My old neighbors used to throw parties almost every weekend with their nieces and nephews I think. They threw pool parties until like 11 or 12 occasionally 1am. You could hear their loud music, splashing, loud talking, and screaming children. It is kind of a tradition that we throw a party for the end of the school year. He came to us very angry because someone's tire was in his grass.(probably only a few inches.) Next year he put flags on the edge of his yard. Now we are trying to move out of this neighborhood because of the HOA. My dad calls them a bunch of busy bodys that stick their nose in other peoples business. You can always see them riding around in their golf carts making sure everyone's yard is is up to their standards. When we first moved in we were remodeling our kitchen first but we got a letter about how our yard was bad so we had to replace the entire front yard with all new grass. We also have a friend who used to park in the street out of the way of any cars for years before we got a letter about it saying if he parks there we will be fined. Another letter we got after years is our grill. We got a letter saying that the grill, trashcan, and PORCH SWING could not be visible. THEY TOOK PICTURES OF OUR HOUSE. We also got sent a letter about some patches of dead grass. I also saw someone look in our mail more than once. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a letter saying the children can not be seen playing in the yard. They also spend so much money on our gate trying to get it to work half of the time. You will almost always see someone out there every week fixing the gate. They do this so they can claim its a gated community even though anyone can get in by waiting for someone to come in or out of the neighborhood and open the gate. They also have security cameras at the entrance where we live so you would asume they catch everything on tape? WRONG. One time some car backed into our mailbox and drove away. It was completely cracked and knocked over. We asked for the security tape to find the car who did it. They didn't have it rolling! So we had to pay our own money to have it welded back together.
Well I hope you enjoyed my rant thank you for reading.

About dogs! I had to give up my first dog, because my neighbors were complaining about him barking apparently all the time, to the point I was going to get evicted. (I was at home in daytime and sometimes during weekend evenings I went to a bar) But two weeks AFTER I gave him to a new home, I got a call from the landlord, about my dog still barking all hours! I told them, I had to give my dog up, and that there is no dog because of these calls. The neighbors either were complaining to the landlord about me, when it wasn't even my dog in the first place, or they were hallucinating! I was so mad, I moved out as soon as I could. And yes, I used some very colourful language during the last call! Luckily the landlord understood my situation, and offered me a new apartment, away from my F**ked up neighbors... In a better area, for lower rent. But I still gave up my dog for those assholes...

Sorry if its long: a few years ago we had a downstairs neighbor that would throw things on or vehicles. One time it was like shrimp sauce, another time it was gravy. We didnt know it was him at first. He then wrote a note to my husband telling him that he was lazy and to get a job. After that he threw a roast under our van. It was pretty bad with him. After the birth of our second daughter, the day we came home, he burned a bunch of cardboard boxes in his bath tub which completely filled our apartment with smoke. We called the cops, several times. But the landlords kicked him out. Once he was out we helped the landlord with cleaning the apartment out, it was so disgusting! The bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned, the sink, and cabinet around the sink had to be replaced, we had to scrub the walls down as a yellow substance was all over them, the kitchen was just as bad. The walls in there went from brown to white. The fridge was so bad, I just about vomited and I have a really strong stomach. It was very very bad. Thankfully we have had great neighbors over the past few years, with current neighbors being some of the best. But thought I would share my little horror story!

I was babysitting overnight in the next town over, one of the 3 kids in that household was at a friend's, and I was sleeping in the bottom of a bunk bed in the younger girls room. I was awoken to being touched, and being called the younger girls name. I was in her bed. Soft hands stroked the hair from my face, with a tiny voice asking me(but using the younger daughter's name) to "wake up and play". The neighbors daughter, 2-3 yrs old at the time, escaped her house around 5 a.m., and walked over next door, to play! Thankfully, I happened to be sleeping in that bed, and we were already friends. I had met this family, through babysitting her. I don't know how she got out of her house, or in to the neighbors house that morning, the doors were locked when I went to sleep.
When we were kids, one neighbor boy was the same age as my sister, and around age 4-5 at the time, when one day he just walks through our the front door. No knocking, call, or previously made plans. Doesn't look for, or address anyone, but proceeds to sit on the livingroom floor, start up our game system and start playing.( probably atari, maybe Nintendo) His mother went from buying Thomas and Barney on VHS to Sega Cartridges after that day, it was a real turning point for the boy. My little sister was the 1st to find him and she didn't know what to do, she was afraid, and sure, she was going to get in trouble for this. I found her hiding! She was hiding from him, hiding from our parents. She was 5, and under the side table in the living room, clearly visible under the tablecloth, in hiding.

@@ClipZ_Gaming_1 thank you, honestly I know and I told her that she either needs to talk to her about that or stop letting her come over, but my mom's just not that type of person who would stand up for herself in this type of situations which makes me furious and I would gladly stand up for her but then she'd be mad at me because 'I'm putting my nose there where it's not meant to be" 😒

My mom had a “friend” like that, I finally locked her out of the house when she lied and said my mom invited her, and tried to get in your house. I told her she was trespassing, and it was illegal for her to be there. She and I had butt heads for a solid 2 years because I refused to be even remotely nice about her behavior.
This included showing up 2 weeks after my fathers death, letting herself into our house (yes, letting herself into our house) at 8:30pm, coming into my mothers room with a CHAIR, where we were in our PJ’s watching Sherlock after an emotionally draining day, to complain about her daughter. For 2 hours.

Lot of being picky about this woman. But what's your mother doing about it? She isn't being held at gunpoint!
      1. Does she tell the woman to come at 10:00?
      2. Does she tell the woman to come Tues and Thursday?
      3. Does she tell the woman not to come at all?
      4. Does she choose not to answer the door?
      5. Does she say don't wake up my kid?
      6. Does she say she has things to do take the kid home or pay $10 an hour babysitting?

My neighbor from hell was my cousin. When we met, we had no idea we are related and she still probably has no idea. I only know because she had her first and last name as her wifi name. I asked my mom who asked her mom and yeah, crazy Karen is my cousin - not yay.
    I could write a novel but I won't. Instead, enjoy how we met;
She woke me up at 5:30 in the morning at the end of November, knocking on the front door even though the house was dark and it was pretty obvious the residents were sleeping. I answered the door and was greeted by my cousin extending her hand and introducing herself to me before proceeding to be a total karen. She said and I quote, "In this neighborhood, we have a tradition where we always leave our Christmas lights on and I noticed that you turn yours off at night. Because you're new, I'm sure you didn't know but you need to leave your lights on from now on. Thanks!" and then she turned around and walked back home.
I kid you not; she actually said that verbatim. Those words are burned into my brain because it was so freaking strange.
I didn't leave my lights on, I made sure to spite her and turn them off when she was watching because you better believe she was a creep and LOVED to spy on us.

Here's one for you: My neighbor getting upset I lock the building front door now. The reason: He lives upstairs and would have drunk/high weirdos knocking at my door looking for him (under a different name) and for his wife (under her actual name) at all hours of the night.
Also there are some wind chimes with a sweet, calming sound and there are larger chimes with a deeper, louder chime that aren't as pleasant.
By law if they asked for the coat, they didn't "abandon it" and so they have no right to keep it. If they had not asked about getting it back, and timing for this varies from place to place, then it would be considered abandoned after a certain time. (I'm not a lawyer but I did study some law practices. It's always good to talk to a lawyer and get information or check your local laws)

My current neighbour has extremely loud parties till 4am every Friday, Saturday, Sunday. They constantly throw food and other things over our fence into our pool. They once threw a glass beer bottle over the fence which hit my dog and caused her to get stitches. We also constantly hear them screaming at their children and threatening to harm them on a daily basis

One of my mom's old neighbors (also my neighbor growing up) was seeing/living with his girlfriend. She moved into his house and didn't work. While he was at work one day, she loaded everything in the house into a trailer and left him nothing. He literally came home to an empty house. She even took all 3 colanders. I felt so bad for him.

Though I would never have one as a pet, pigs are actually clean animals in the proper environment. Most people in their minds see the animals in squalor of the unkempt pigpen of popular lore. Like any pet, they are as clean as the owner keeps them.
And in case you're wondering, pigs don't have the ability to sweat much to cool themselves, that is why you see them wallowing, often depicted in mud. Many owners of pet pigs will often fill their bathtub, a plastic kiddie pool or a similar container with water for the animal to use instead.

I had a neighbor downstairs, it was actually an old couple but the lady was the crazy one, she didn't like the fact that I had cats and an old dog (18yo!), always complained and called me about every single sound - footsteps of the animals, the toilet flushing at night - I mean wtf I need to hold till daylight so I won't bother you?
And one day she called me again but I didn't answer so she forgot to hang up and left a voice mail by eccident and I heard her saying "Ok she's not answering, but I'm telling you!! She imports cats from Russia!! Her apartment is full of them!! And they throw their feces from the balcony to our garden!"
First of all - I really hope she meant the cat's feces and not mine and my roommates, and even if we would of done so her garden would look better lol
Thank god that neighbor is far far from me now, and she was racist, she knew I was from Ukraine originally and that's why she said that I import cats from Russia 😆😆😆

My former neighbor would leave their dogs in their backyard for hours on end, and my dogs and theirs did not get along at all. The fence was technically theirs, and we offered to go in half to fix it because it was old and both of us have very strong dogs who try to get at each other through it. I'd have to let mine out, and at one point I had to keep them on the deck instead of in the yard because my huskies and their pit bull were threatening to take down the fence. There was a hole in it at one point and my dog was bitten in the face by theirs because he stuck his face through and got her. I wrote notes to them since no one ever answered the door when you'd knock, but it did nothing. I'm so glad I don't live there anymore.

I used to live in a townhouse and I had a neighbour on both sides of me. One time, when I was out of town for a week, my one neighbour put up a really high fence around his back patio, but, it went out into the public area, and blocked my view of the central garden. When I asked him to move it back onto his property, he called me a slut, and slammed the door. I complained to the property manager, and they basically said that, well, it's up already, too late to do anything about it. My neighbour on the other side hated all pets (I had a dog and 2 cats) He was always pounding on my door, complaining about the smell in his basement, saying it was coming from my side. I would let him into my townhouse, to check out my basement, and, obviously, there was no smell. 2 days later, he'd be back, complaining again.

there was a woman in our neighborhood who had a set of those HUGE bongy windchimes that just never stopped. We live in a windy area, and we'd hear them all night, every night. And then, after a few months of this, silence. Blessed silence.
Turns out a neighbor had snuck over after dark and superglued the chimes together.

My daughter had a crazy neighbor who was so jealous about the fact that her husband knew my daughter, due to the fact they were working in the same area, that her and her husband feared for an invasion of property (the crazy person was the wife of the landlord , so had access to the keys of my daughter’s appartement) and had to move. It was crazy all the fu**ed up things that broad (72years old) did to intimidate my daughter!

The upstairs neighbour in our old apartment was a penthouse with a roof area. The roof drain often get blocked by random dirt or leaves or whatnot and water would pool when it rained. This causes the water to seep through our bedrooms wall and ceiling. We always have to complaint to the neighbour come rainy season. The worst day was when it rained like crazy for a few days and the leaks got so bad it's practically waterfall coming down the wall. The neighbour was unreacahble and I have to put a lot of bucket to catch the drips and set up alarm every 2-3hours throughout the night to empty the buckets. The bedroom carpet were all wet by morning and I had to dry it with towel and hair dryer. It takes more than a week to fully dry :(
Anyway, one day the neighbour decided to refurbish his unit so it now has a deck covering the drain which I would assume makes it even harder for the drain to be cleaned. And since it covers it, there's no way he would remember cleaning it. And Of course he then decided to rent out his unit as air bnb, and the guest wouldn't know that they need to clean the drain, and we have to deal with noisy guests and even more water leaks!
