Eric was in the Capital City Rockets with Jamie (and Bob Hill, who Eric later brought into his new band The Godz). My understanding is that early in his career, Jamie had really bad stage fright. Hearing these songs growing up only on the oldies stations, I don’t know what a lot of the bands look like for songs/groups that I like. The front man looks like Kevin Bacon with a perm. Lol.

Here I am 75 and had a dream last night and this song was in it. It really stuck with me. Had to here it again after all these years. Still as good as the first time.
This song came out the summer I was 9 years old. Heard it every day on the bus going to Day Camp, on the jukebox at camp, on the bus on outings, and on the ride home-- still never got tired of it! My mom had surgery for thyroid cancer that summer, and going to camp was their way of letting me not have to deal with any of that, and this song helped me a lot, too. She came out just fine. Still love this song, no bad association with it, only good! (It's nice to see the actual people who sang and played it, after 55 years! Thank you!)
This is one of my fav songs from the olden days. Folks keep referring to the lyrics. Well, my best lyric from this song is: When you raise the roof with your rock an roll, you'll get a lot more kick with a little bit of soul! That's really one of my favorite lyrics in all of rock and roll, really :)
I started listening to "oldies" in the 80s because I was so disappointed what was out there in the late 80s/early 90s outside of GNR. I forgot how much I absolutely loved this song until i recently watched a documentary on RUclips about Vietnam when it came up. It sounds so 50s but it's interesting to see how influenced the band members were by the Beatles in the Dick Clark interview in the longer version of this appearance. Their drums weren't delivered!
I loved this song back in the day. Back then, we rarely knew what musicians looked like; just saw this video today so have just seen Music Explosion for the first time! The lead singer clearly had the same problem I had back then: curly hair! Curly hair was so out of style; I remember hating my hair. He probably wanted to have a Beatle haircut but couldn't, so he let his curly hair grow out into a 1970s style, a decade in advance!
You can see the drummer fucking around in the back. The gave him a bongo with kettle drum sticks. He has that, "i dont think anyone is gonna buy that im actually playing a song here" kind of vibe going on.They may as well have given him a soup pot and two spatulas
