There were people at that time, who appreciated the small faces for the good band they were. And I know because I was one of them. I am 67
PP Arnold's contribution to this classic deserves more credit
she looks pretty whacked
Turn her Mike up!
@@philclark8681 Wouldn't have made any difference, they're obviously miming to the record! 😉
@@philclark8681Mike? I thot it was a Phil 😉😎
Can't hear her
For me, the greatest voice in Rock history. What a band the Small Faces were.
Agreed.
you are probably right
Absolutely the greatest voice in rock history. When I was a little kid,I used to listen to my sisters albums and think wow that's the definition of a rock singer.
Robert Plant completely ripped off Steve Marriott singing…E too D
Absolutely
Over 50 years old and still sounds fricking awesome 👌
IT NEVER FAILS TO GET ME rocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
trucking awesome sounds better LOL
Timeless
2nd December 1967 is 55 years ago.
Not if you’re from the future.
This version, with the Small Faces and PP Arnold, must be one of the best tracks ever made
I agree
AMEN!!!!!!
Ja ze is geweldig bij smalle faces goed hij met band
PP(Pat) Arnold has written "We were lovers at this time. I was the new black girl in town. I had soul, Steve had soul. It was natural we would connect. However, he wrote Tin Soldier for Jenny Rylance, she was the love of his life". PP is still a beautiful woman and has been very helpful to Steve's daughter Mollie. Mollie calls her her soul godmother.
JUST WONDERFUL...RIP STEVE MARRIOTT, a true god of music
That`s lovely to read this. Thanks for posting. PP was so beautiful. I still fancy her. HEY! Even ancient people have feelings you know. : )
@@thekarmafarmer608 PP is lovely. I heard her say a few years ago that she was writing her memoirs. I would love to read them. I'm sure she must have some interesting stories to tell about Steve and others. Mollie said in an interview that PP spent an evening with her and her sister Tonya (both of whom were very young when Steve died) telling them wonderful stories about their dad. Sweet!
@@cindyfalstrom7231 LIfe can be sad at times. I`m glad there are lots of good memories.
A classic. I also have a thing for PP♥️
Steve Marriot and PP Arnold are just fantastic in the song
Tin Soldier never to be done again by anybody!!!!!
This song is absolutely flawless. Vocal, guitar, bass, keyboards ….etc. no other words.
No its not. The female's mike was not turned on. But otherwise this song is the best.
@@benlewis55 Uhmm HELLO! Nothing is turned on. No mic, no bass, no keyboard, no guitar, no nothing. This is the studio version and they are just lip syncing.
Younger. Days. We're. Amazing. And. There. Is. More. To. Come. Lovelies.....
The drummers rockin it, hes smashing those cymbals. I love it
There is footage of this somewhere which was apparently recorded totally live. This has been overdubbed with another recording, maybe the album version.
My god, I'm 72 now and that video took me back to the mid 60s. And the Small face's were one of the best, with All or nothing, Tin soldiers, Itchicoo Park and many more. STEVENS voice was just like a LARGE glass of MALT WHISkY. God bless wee man and thanks for the memories.
Stevens ?
@mia valgaerts Steven Marriot maybe?
Man ! They sure don't make songs like this anymore ! Steve Marriott's pipes, PP Arnold as a back up vocalist & The Small Faces.... Expolsive.
Steve Marriott is not only a great singer but a kick-ass frontman and showman. He`s like Jagger with a guitar. Love the way he performs. Glenn Augustyn
We know
In my opinion he is the coolest looking guy playing guitar. I love Townsend and berry’s showmanship but he is better
So sadly missed, so tragically taken from us far too young.
and he#s vocal range is so impressive
Marriott rock`s more than Jagger ever. There’s a lot of "Bon Scott" in Steven’s voice.
One of my favourite songs ever. Steve Marriott was a rock god.
He died a sad death.
Best front man ever !
People will watch this in a thousand years time and will still be fucking loving the 60s man
love p p arnold looking like it was just another job. brilliant!
In the year 2525
One of the best periods in rock history. A virtual Renaissance!
I'm 50 years old. Heard of Small Faces growing up. What an amazing band. I'm discovering now in 2022 how great they are.
@lisalanteigne me too! I knew about them growing up but I didn't really discover them until last year (2021). Such talent!
Hi Look at him in Humble Pie Superb
Play "Rockin' the Fillmore" with volume on 10 ... 11 if you got it. I saw the band shortly after this album came out ... absolutely, indubitably one of my top three concerts of all time. Just fantastic! I still hear Steve Marriot's voice vibrating in my memory. Did I say it was a great concert? It was F*cking Great!
They were the Mod band of the 60,s both in dress and music
Great rock lineage with the Small Faces to the Faces feat. Rod Stewart, to Humble Pie and Peter Frampton.
When I want my mood lifted I watch tin soldier and Itchycoo park and have a big smile on my face. Thank you Steve and Ronnie!
Ditto!
Me too, Steve Marriott was the best .
I LOVE THE SMALL FACES !! I really appreciate their music !! I'm from that ERA and Itchygoo Park is a Favorite song fr the early 60's !! ❤️👍☮️
Oh god yes what a great band and and Steve could move like jagger, play guitar like a rock n roll punk, and sing....
YES!! And when I want my own mood lifted, I watch Humble Pie doing 'Natural Born Woman'
I had the great fortune to meet Steve at a party in London around '77. He'd pretty well gone off the boil by then but he was still able to hold the room and spoke fondly of his earlier musical times. He loved that my sister and I were great fans and gave us loads of his time and sang 'Shah La Lee' to us with his very bluesy voice. We really had a great laugh with him but then he was off to some other place and we never saw him again sadly. An unbelievable talent and a party that I'll ever forget.
Wow, lucky you. From what I have read and heard, it appears that Steve was usually charming and kind to fans and "regular" folks, but didn't have much tolerance for those in the music industry or sycophants who tried to suck up. Jerry said he could have a tongue like a viper! I'm sure that was an unforgettable experience.
Your a very lucky man
One of the best performances ever!!!
Probably one of the best pop songs in history. Brilliant music and so well complemented by the voices of Steve and PP
Pop?
This? One of the best? It's pretty generic. Nothing that sets it apart from much else at the time.
@@PeanutSpring3. Remember that was then, Time , moves on good memories are lost and revealed again in youthful things each is different
I NEVER tire of listening to this wonderful piece of music.
You are not alone, this song kicks butt on every level !
Amen x
Really is great
Picture this: you're a 12 yr old kid from a conservative Catholic family visiting your 9 yr older brother at his college up north.
As we drive down frat row, I hear music blasting from speaker turned towards the street and since they were on the 2nd floor the sound really filled the area. Itchykoo Park is playing.
My mom was oblivious but I was absorbing every word from Steve Marriott!! Been a huge fan of Small Faces ever since, I am 69 yrs now!!
Was your brother Sheldon Cooper?
I was 13 when this was released I'm 68 now and still love it!!!!
Can't stop watching this. Steve Marriotts voice full of passion, energy and soul, love watching him perform, a small man with a big presence. He was the best of the best
Got to be the best into and outro of all time. Genuinely makes my spine tingle every time I hear it. Glorious record, wonderful band.
Steve Marriott so underrated, brilliant at whatever he did, voice of opera singer too, such a tragic end to his life
Absolutely brilliant Steve Marriott what a voice deserved so much more praise just an unique sound that has never been matched fantastic band RIP STEVE, RONNIE & IAN💔🙏

Taken too early. One of the best soul voices I have ever heard! Saw them live in Glasgow....amazing!!!

The 60`s was an Explosion of music , Never to be beaten ....
This is one of those performances that at the time was just another 'performance', thank goodness the recording was kept, as it is now a testament to what the 60's was all about. It is one of my all time favourites.
I find it a shame that the footage has had studio audio dubbed onto it. I would much rather have heard the live performance as (presumably) broadcast.
@@cpa2788 10 years ago the original audio live version of this particular performance was on youtube. It has been removed. Believe it or not, the soul from P.P. Arnold made the live-version even more heavenly. Still longing to find that superbe version somewhere. Please, someone, bring it back!!

One of the most legendary songs of the Sixties, powerful and natural.
P.P.Arnold's simple dancing and fresh singing is really admirable.
I'm 62 and I'm truly glad I was there ❤❤
One of the all time favourits!
Never seen a pair as wonderful together as Steve and P.P.
I was born too late to see this era of music and feel I missed something very special. The small faces are my ultimate favourite band and Steve marriott is one heck of a front man and a legend
I was 15 when this came out, and it dominated the radio - like every 10 minutes you could hear it on one station or another!
No s..t. Class of 69.
Loved this band, so under-rated, Stevie Marriott great front man great voice
Gre
Great frontman you allways need a great leader to connect with the crowd 👼
Oh God, I so remember seeing this on TOTP way back in the 70’s... Now that I’m approaching my f-ing 70’s, damn it....
Timeless and for me the best Small Faces track, absolutely brilliant and PP looks and sounds fantastic here.
It may be dubbed over but every time I see this video, Steve Marriott's genuine effort and energy just bursts through. A real masterful performance.
Hi Marco--Doubt it was 'dubbed over' but probably a live performance that was never actually captured on tape. Just a great performance, pretending to play live, while the prerecorded (an gorgeous) original track was played...still, great energy. What a time that was...wishing more real live performances had been preserved for posterity...
@@stephenpatt952 look above in the comment section, there are several links listed for the original live TV concert. 3 songs, great energy, but sadly poor quality sound, which is probably why Tin Soldier was dubbed. Itchicoo Park isn't as bad.

Saw steve several times in Manchester, London, Bournemouth, then he was with humble pie , only wish I'd seen him with the small face's but what Vocals bloody amazing,
Simply the best band EVER nobody is ever going to top this.
Happy times when I was a kid.
Brilliant band with PP Arnold. Pity there are no bands like this today.

La verdad es que no lo conocía a Marriott. Hoy me hice su fan!!!! Elfue excelente como cantante, guitarrista, compositor y... Showman
Absolutely one the best 60’s bands. Steve Marriott was a true star
As a Drummer, Singer and Music Historian, I rate this song as one of the best I've ever heard.
The power and the passion from each individual is intense.
If that's what you believe then I urge you to watch Steve singing black coffee. That will really blow you away.
I’m a drummer from that era and agree.
@@alanm6454 Thanks Macca, that is what I believe, because it's true and correct.
I like being 'blown away' and that's what Small Faces do to me.
This fantastic classic looms large in my thoughts , i adored these genius guys , the 60s era was some thing else ,, WOW ,,, MEMORIES TO CHERISH XJane x
One hell of a passionate, wild, enthusiastic, brilliant musician ever. Loved the Small Faces - and this was my fave song. Saw them live in Hamburg's STAR CLUB in 1967 when I was a very young Rock n Roll reporter at a news paper.
I have lived with Steve Marriott as my "hero" for 50 years ... God, he should and could have taken the world by storm (more than he did) with a voice that was never out of tune, never struggling. I saw Humble Pie four times ( twice with Frampton ) .... He took some wrong decisions, as we all have over the years, and that's a huge sadness and loss for the world of music.
I agree Ian. Steve is my rock hero also. He was a real enigma - so amazingly talented, yet self sabotaging and self destructive & full of demons. Bless his soul...
The band is incredibly tight! That and the beautiful voices make this one of pop’s best songs.
A timeless performance that deserves great respect . A definitive frontman who reveals his soul , Steve Marriott together with PP Arnold deliver the goods ! .
This is a truly awesome composition, and P.P.Arnold deserves much credit. R.I.P. Steve Marriot, you are a legend .
PP’s pure joy and Steve’s visceral chord reaction absolutely make this… magic!
Loved this song. I think it's one of their best!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👏👏👏👏
The perfect single, nothing beats this song.
Well, Waterloo Sunset Beats it.. but this is very close
The energy and vocal quality of this record is mind blowing. Timeless !

Top 100 Songs Of All Time - don't argue.
This song broke the mold of
verse-verse-chorus-break-chorus-verse
that almost every pop song of the time had as its structure. This song progressed all the way to the end. A work of genius.
From the very moment i heard

I pick this as the best rock single ever. Short, punchy, impassioned lyric and vocal, and says everything it needs to in 3 minutes. It's the perfect record.
yes, then we got 'prog rock' that went on for hours..... emperors new clothes! Everyone raving about it but really just diluted 3 minute songs. Why write 6 songs to fill an LP side when you can just write one?
Legend has it when he auditioned for the Stones , Jagger was not too happy about being upstaged by Marriott's all round stellar performance.
Jagger wasn't a patch on Marriott. Still isn't.
I find both accusations difficult to believe.
@@shamteal8614 Its true. Keith Richards arranged an audition for Marriott to replace Mick Taylor. Jagger wouldn't have Steve in the band for fear of being overshadowed....
