77 yrs old and still getting huge vibes from this AWESOME threesome.!! I'm so blessed to have been able to live through the 60's and 70's and the far out rock bands.
My first album was Cream and then came, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly. I am 72 and still rocking to this music. I am writing these down and giving these to my 32-year old son to show him what real music is like. My 52 year old already knows many with Pink Floyd, Bad Company. His mama's musical life on her reel to reel and 8 track deck.
When I was a boy about 12 yrs old around 69/70 my dad picked up a young hippy on a dirt track, he had no money and nowhere to stay so dad brought him home, fed him and gave him a bed. My dad was a fisherman and took the young fella to work for a few days so he could earn some money to move on. He had a small portable turntable and a handful of records, one of them the Cream album this track is from, he told me to play them and look after them until he came back to get them. I must of played the Cream album a 100 times. He came back one day when my parents were out, thanked me for looking after his records and told me to keep listening to good music. Whenever I hear this song I think of him and wonder how his life panned out.
You can't forget zz top, those 3 guys put out some great tunes too and the original Grand Funk Railroad, lots of talent in the good old days. The new music sucks for me. My son turned me on to a couple that are okay, 5 horse Johnson and clutch but I still listen to kzel classic rock

What a lot of folks do not understand. It was not just the music. It was the feeling, energy, spirit, and so much more. You could see and feel in the sixties. Just walking around the village in NY was a experience. I guess you had to been their to understand! Ps. I was at the farewell show in New Haven. Only feet leaning on the stage from Clapton. I was the one who ran on stage and took a Ginger Baker drum stick. The good old days! No! They never caught me!
I remember the 60s well, too. I was in my 20s. The energy big rock bands brought to the streets and on campus was huge for all of us. Much was going on in the streets. Not all fun and games, to be sure. Rock bands brought us together and helped all of us blow off steam. Great cut!! Thanks:)
In my opinion....Eric Clapton gave his touch, Ginger Baker was brilliant, but the band is Jack Bruce. Fantastic. One of the best bass player in the music history
All fantastic I would say.. Ginger brilliant as were all of them! Wonderful to see Eric so young! Each and everyone of them gave everything when they played..
I'm 58 years old and I'm still listening this kind of music. Because old classic Rock never dies... As long as humanity exists there will always be young people who will dream and be inspired by good rock music...😉💓💪
1968. Sitting on the beach in SoCal, my transistor radio earpiece crammed in my ear. Looking at the waves and feeling Bruce's voice and the hot sun caressing my skin and soul. Inexpressibly pleasureful. Thank you, Cream.
Ginger my pirate on the drums…. Absolutely had me hooked at the age of 4, him and Keith were gods! I wanted to play the drums desperately but my father was old school European told me “you love Tull play the flute, it’s not lady like to play the drums…” I’m 57 now and I still tap out on the steering wheel, countertop, etc…
I'm 73, and still have and play my 1967 Ludwig gold sparkle set ! Was in 3 local bands before I was Robert McNamara'd into submission . Follow your dreams, and play them too !!!
I am 68. It was released in 1968 double album Wheels of Fire. I was 14. Back in the day albums were just starting. A friend had bought it. Back then we were starving for good music. (Today just a click away.) We were getting fed up with pop music on the radio. THEN we heard something like this. I always share the experience of hearing this and other tracks back then. All the music was amazing. (and still is with the AI lyrics and computer generated music of today) Who is here in 2023?
16 in ‘69, I love that I can hear all of the music I grew up with, on my iPhone ! We’re so fortunate to have had this great music growing up. It’s the best of all time !! ❤️~~✌🏻~~🌸 !!
Ginger Baker's drumming with the odd timing and off beats is just awesome on this track, shows off his Jazz roots but layered under his rock sensibilities.
Always one of my favourite Cream songs. If they had done nothing else except this and Crossroads, they would still be one of the greatest bands ever. What a combination of musical talent!
I can say music in the 20th century was about love , the war and even drugs but had meaning if it was rock or jazz or the stuff during the 40s but todays music will never be classics it will be forgotten till the next wave of music which I hope it will have meaning .
I am still listening, and do on a regular basis. This is an absolute Classic in every sense of the word. Fantastic lyrics by Pete Brown too. It has just about everything you could want in a good Rock song.
Born in 1959. This song changed me forever. Just 10 when I first heard it, I was mesmerized. The musical landscape just opened up for me after that, and I was never the same.
n the white room with black curtains near the station Black roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes Dawn light smiles on you leaving, my contentment I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves You said no strings could secure you at the station Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows I walked into such a sad time at the station As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd Consolation for the old wound now forgotten Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves
Jack was everything in this song, the driving bass as well as the powerful medieval yet soulful voice. But it’s easy to go making Gingers Thumping drums or Claptons mesmerising psychedelic guitar were only bit part players. A clear standout for me is Gingers massive crashing drum crescendo, it underpins and draws attention even to the lyrics and mood of the song. It’s rare to hear that in drums, few can do it, yet combine beautifully with the bass and in its chaos still provide a precise platform for Eric’s finger picking artistry. It all works wonderfully to create a heavy rock masterpiece of a song.
I remember when this song hit the airwaves I was floored! The only word to describe it was “Majestic”. What a great band Cream was! What a fantastic era that was!
yeah im 17 and i find modern music hard to listen to autotune, not an ounce of talent also, the lyrics are either about sex, drugs, heartbreak or depression i love the sixties so much

@Ellen Adams The powers that be don't want thought provoking or melodic content in music.. The effects of which lead to critical thinking.. Every time I hear this epic art piece it takes the mind on a journey and it's never the same place.. A monumental piece of art painted on the tapestry of time.. There's still great music being played and recorded.. The likes of it are reduced to independent labels and not given the time on the mainstain radios or any format of mass exposure to the general public..

I bought all of Cream’s early albums & put them on casssette. It was 1969 & I was 19. I bought a CHERRY 1967 Pontiac GTO, installed high end speakers, a 100w amplifier, and I cruised while BLASTING Cream. I had SO many girls wanting to cruise in my car. It was, without a doubt, the BEST times of my life. At one point I was seeing 4 different high school senior girls, at three different schools, AT THE SAME TIME!! It was GLORIOUS!! I know the car helped but Cream’s fabulous music did also.

Hey Doug thanks for sharing your story..God bless you old man!!
Haha. I was there too. Just a wee punk then. Grew up in Old Saybrook..
I understand it..that's why I bough the 3 album in the 60s
I remember the 60s well, too. I was in my 20s. The energy big rock bands brought to the streets and on campus was huge for all of us. Much was going on in the streets. Not all fun and games, to be sure. Rock bands brought us together and helped all of us blow off steam. Great cut!! Thanks:)
I have a serious question for you. Are you a hipster now?
AGREE EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THIS SONG ROCKS AND IS A MASTERPIECE !
In my opinion....Eric Clapton gave his touch, Ginger Baker was brilliant, but the band is Jack Bruce. Fantastic. One of the best bass player in the music history
And a wonderful vocalist too.
It was gingers band. He created it
100 per cent.
! Timeless treasures in music.
All fantastic I would say.. Ginger brilliant as were all of them! Wonderful to see Eric so young! Each and everyone of them gave everything when they played..
Jack Bruce was one of the greatest voices of rock. It is amazing to me that only three people can write and create this music.
I'm 58 years old and I'm still listening this kind of music. Because old classic Rock never dies...
As long as humanity exists there will always be young people who will dream and be inspired by good rock music...😉💓💪
Another masterpiece from the 60"s best music ever can't beat it
The feedback sustain on Eric's guitar is so perfect. And the strength of Bruce's voice is overwhelming - something really novel for rock.
It would be an instant hit today.
I am. Still sounds great. One of my favourite Cream songs.
Fantastic song that has been with me all of my life.Still sounds brilliant after all these years.
I at 14 found vinyl, taped to cassette loved these dudes. Didn't even know such masters in 70s? Mind boggling.
Good on you girl.
It’s not too late!!
@@markfromct2 Okay. ~ Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band ~ Stranger in Town album. (From my home state of Michigan). 🌸✨
@@ClaudiaMitchell-jn7fw Totally agreed Claudia
@@ClaudiaMitchell-jn7fw I respect Bob Seger! Peace 🙏

Music today cannot compare ... simple, timeless and awesome.
Music today promotes imperfection yet their songs must sound perfect from their laptops and computers, ironic
Exactly
1000% Correct..............
I can say music in the 20th century was about love , the war and even drugs but had meaning if it was rock or jazz or the stuff during the 40s but todays music will never be classics it will be forgotten till the next wave of music which I hope it will have meaning .
There is no music today, just noise
Cream must be in the top ten rock groups of all time ... incredibly, incredibly great !! Love it. 🎶🎼🎵
2nd most influential to the Beatles
@@Thadmotor1044 ..what about Pink Floyd, or Moody Blues. ??
@@blairsterling6141 Groundbreaking . Beatles broke the ground for all groups to do what they felt like doing with Sgt Peppers

2024 still incredible. Since the 1970 when I was young.
This is music with a long history, and just as great as it was then. Most of todays music will disappear into history, never to be heard again.
This is 50 and truly timeless, I concur
Jack bruce. He was cream.!
already is forgotten
All things will be forgotten
@@zachinabox2951 Maybe by you.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes. I so love Jack's lyricism.
I am still listening, and do on a regular basis. This is an absolute Classic in every sense of the word.
Fantastic lyrics by Pete Brown too. It has just about everything you could want in a good Rock song.
I’ve seen all three of them sing the lyrics. Doesn’t matter. Still the best rock song of all time. (I was born in 1949).
Born in 1959. This song changed me forever. Just 10 when I first heard it, I was mesmerized. The musical landscape just opened up for me after that, and I was never the same.
I was born in 1949 and agree completely
I'm with you on that!!!! LOVE this version...
I was born in 1948 and agree with you.

Me. I’m 75 & used to listen to music like this when I was overseas
n the white room with black curtains near the station
Black roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes
Dawn light smiles on you leaving, my contentment
I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves
You said no strings could secure you at the station
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows
I walked into such a sad time at the station
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning
I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves
At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings
I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves
This song truly is a masterpiece and it was so ahead of its time ❤
You old guys are lucky to have lived during this great music. I’m in my 30s and have to go back decades to listen to this good shit.
I remember when this song hit the airwaves I was floored! The only word to describe it was “Majestic”. What a great band Cream was! What a fantastic era that was!
I agree with all the accolades I've read here about cream they are a once in a lifetime experience
this song is a masterpiece
So true, they have an awsome bunch of songs

Since 1971 I haven't been tired to listen to the chef d'oeuvre on and on...
The talent these three brought to the table is simply remarkable.
This is true music, absolutely brilliant. So sad two of the best are gone, thank God their music lives on.
I have loved this since I was 12 I'm now68 and still loving it.. This is still my favourite Cream song
Me..i remember it clearly at night out all night..funny period of life at 19..working nights etc

autotune, not an ounce of talent
also, the lyrics are either about sex, drugs, heartbreak or depression
i love the sixties so much
Those years were so great. Crazy lucky to have been there ❤❤❤ 60s rock!!
My father shared this song with me when I was a small child...still love it!
I learned how to swim on the day I first heard this song!
Excellent brings back memories 74 but this takes me way back
CREAM the band will last for eternal.
Cream is just an awesome group with music that will take you down that road and enjoy the classic music 🎶 🎵 that they are playing. I'm just happy that they made that type of music with heart and soul 🎉🎉
One of the best songs ever performed by one of the best groups ever.
Could not care less which version this is, Jack was magnificent on any version.

Amazing how just three instruments and a vocalist can produce these magic sounds and rhythms! Its jaw-dropping to say the least.
if you like this you might like my brother’s music. his name is Stu Morris and 'Daisy' is a good song by him....
What about ginger on drums?? Wow
i grew up listening to the best music of all time Cream was part of that time long live classic rock
Steve i love your comment , i too was around in the good old days when rock was created by these fab gents , What utter talent they possessed between them it was utter pure magic lol Jane ps , i adore this classic so much xx
Three superstars come together to form an awesome band! And the lead singer plays the bass!!
Rush did the same thing. A guitar, a bass player/vocalist and an amazing drummer. These two bands set the bar very high.
Rush is so much better it’s not even close
@@williampeel8589 and ZZ top only had three
I'm 73 and grew up listening to Cream, Hendrix, Joplin, and the Dead among others. It was a fabulous and exciting era!
Music isn’t the same anymore! In our time it was the best.❤️❤️❤️
Yep
And oh god the fantastic lack of security!
Best music and best cars too.
You mean in 90's right?

One of the greatest iconic songs ever recorded!
One of the very best bands ..... we grew up with music that is not seen today when raw talent was required ..........now all they need is a marketable face and technology does the rest ,........
Such a great tune with outstanding vocals, percussion, organ, and bass. What memories too, as a boy, listening to my older brother's music.

Great to catch up with this again. Stunning track. Jack Bruce - one of the greatest of all time. Watched and listened to him open- mouthed as I prepared to hit my teens. What a time to be young!
Amazing music what a time we lived in to experience this time strange at times unforgettable
Very lucky, I was born in 51. Saw Hendrix twice, Zepplin twice, Jeff Beck twice, Clapton and Winwood with Blind Faith and Winwood again with Traffic! Fast forward 30+ years and I saw the Eagles! I've seen lots of others too at the Dallas Pop Festival. Oh, & btw, I'm friends with Eric Johnson. We grew up together in North Austin. I was his equipment mgr in his 1st band, called Mariani (Vince Mariani founder and drummer. He was a lifelong best friend. Past On 2 trs ago.
I got chills up n down my spine. Epic. Timeless. Classic.
I was blessed to grow up with parents who valued real music like this. We'd have weekend black light dances with great music like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and 45 records playing. I remember this was one of them.
It's not just the playing/singing (which is sublime) but the songwriting!
Oh how I love „Cream!“ I remember I was 15years and grew up in a small town in Northern Germany there were two music cafés where this songs had been played (there was still a strong hippie-culture and we celebrated it to ecstasy!💚💜👏🏻)We appreciated that a lot!👏🏻
Jeder einzelne war ein Genie 😎
Same here except I was 8 or 9 then.
Celebrated the music, the hot chicks, the awesome cars...beam me back Scottie !!!
Had a 66 goat with a 400. Moody Blues rocked, but Cream was also in the pocket book.
you're disgusting. - a former high school girl.
Greatest bass ever thankyou for all the music i love brave Ulysses ❤❤❤❤❤
I saw them in a small soda shop in 1968 in Greenwich Village NY. 'White Room' was definitely my favorite. Hard to believe how much music three guys can make!
The best band of all time and the best musicians without a doubt!
Was the number 1 song of all time for a long time. What a piece of music it truly is.
It hasn't aged, not like me, I'm over 80s. Heard them live in 1967
