    Just picked up a SR505 on a bit of a whim. Ended up parting with my SR300FM for what I paid for it and I’m loving the difference. Considering the price it is hands down an extraordinarily instrument.

    Eeeeey, I love this! got a SR505 myself, and it us just amazing sounding and perfect for most generes. But I feel you forgot to mention something and here it is. The pickups are passive but the Pre-amp are active, wich means you get the clean sound from passive but the power from active. And the battery can stay for ages!!

      @@liamjenkins82 Hey, I sold it because I went back to guitaring, but when I owed it, it was solid af, always reliable, just remember to bring a spare 9v and swap it before a concert if you do that.

      @@oblivionnokk3531 ha appreciate the reply. I'm actually re considering and thinking a schecter or a an esp. as much as I've enjoyed the Ibanez over the years I'd like to try something new.

    • @peadookie

      @@liamjenkins82 I've been playing an sr755 since 2010... Still a super bad ass bass. I changed out the pickups to Bart MK5's and the Bart NTMB pre and went to 18v with a coil tap switch. Also added Loxx strap locks.
      In that configuration, it's the bass I play 60% of the time. The other bass that I've got is a Modulus Q5. I also used to own a Modulus Q6, for reference.
      This bass is light, fast, ergonomic (for me), and has survived spit, beer, heat, cold... pretty much anything a hard-giggled bass can deal with.
      If in doubt, go for it. If you want to hot rod it, upgrade the pickups and/or pre.
      Edit: the neck is nice and low, BTW.

    Jatoba's Witness. lol. I picked this bass up at the Guitar Center... I fell in love with the wood, the weight and the way the strings sit so close to the fret board. Even without plugging it in, it sounded so lovely. I am reintroducing myself to the bass again after a long haitus. If I stay consistent (i.e., finish an online program I signed up for), I will treat myself to this bass! I'm in love.

    I've used an SR506 for 7 years now. It's the easiest playing 6-string I've ever seen. I traded a Modulus Quantum 6 for it and never looked back. It's NOT a pretty instrument. It just sounds great and plays effortlessly. I've never needed a neck adjustment; it's incredibly stable, and I'm able to get the action ridiculously low. For the money, this bass is unbeatable.
    My one complaint is this: It's hard to keep the bridge saddles from moving around. I'm looking for a replacement bridge that locks. If I can't find one, I'll just replace it with a stock bridge.
    I'd like to see you guys do a comparison of inexpensive 6-string (or more) basses.

    I will have to say that the $100 USD that I paid for my Ibanez SR300 was without a doubt the best dough ever spent on a bass guitar, Blows away my old Charvel 3B..
    Only trouble we ever had was the bridge saddles would loosen from vibration & the saddles would fall, The fix was a micro drop of clear nail polish on each screw..

    My SR505 is clothed in Zebra wood so there is at least three finishes. Thanks for demonstrating the EQ section. The mids are the voice so I don't usually scoop them more than a smidge below the indent. The switch has a nice effect with the mid-cut. I'm about to light up the rig and give that a go.

      I've got a 506 as well. My only complaint is the thin body starts to cut off the circulation to your leg when you play sitting down for extended periods of time. Other than that, it's flawless. I play mine with the low B dropped to an A:
      AEADGC, but I've gone as low as GDGCFA# for the sake of djent and it had no problems with floppy strings.

    My dad has an older Ibanez and that's the only bass I ever played. Didn't get to learn much on it because it was pretty beat up and needed quite a bit of help to get it sounding good. I can't wait until I save up enough to get my own Ibanez.

    • @philmccracken6134
      @philmccracken6134 8 лет назад +2

      Actually it's better to learn on an old beat up instrument, then you buy something nice and you realise you can do a lot of things and playing just becomes a lot more fun. I still remember when i bought my Strat after learning on a crappy entry level guitar, the first time i played it was just like a dream. Then it did it again when i tried the Ernie ball strings.

    • @GuyNamedSean

      There is nothing less inspiring than a difficult playing bass. I once tried to play on a jazz festival jamsession on a horrible Fender P bass with a really high action, with the result that I could not play good at all. A trauma it was. Luckily it was in another country. Now I always carry around a small allen key with me. It takes just seconds to lower the strings, and an old bowed neck suddenly becomes playable ✌️

    • @NoelKunz
      @NoelKunz 4 года назад

      I have an SR500 that I play through the new Fender Rumble. Versatile is the key word and the Rumble amp is stupid light. Works well and I've played it from small weddings to arenas when my band played opening day for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This bass plus the Rumble amp is a real winner. I rarely play any other bass/amp combo anymore.

  • @SteveC-Shaman
    @SteveC-Shaman 2 года назад +1

    Just bought one of these. Tried it against Fender, Gretch, Charvel, Jackson all in the same shop on the same amp ... it played better, sounded better and was more flexibile while being reliable from the standpoint of having fully passive pickups with passive tone control.

    Is THAT what that switch does! I've had the SR505 for nearly a year and still can't hear any difference when I move the switch. And the "manual" is no use at all, it tells you what the switch does on EVERY model, but never makes it clear which model you've got.
    The trussrod still needs the (supplied) spanner to tighten, just not a screwdriver to get at the end.
    You guys are so good, you even make fret buzz sound good. I think you've been practising!

    is the SR500-SBF really worth the extra money over the SR400-EQM? Marginally better pickups for an extra £100 and change

    yeaa the six string version is not as light as those, as an owner i feel like pointin it out ahah great for slappin imho the only thing i dont like about it is the mid control in the bass eq, which they improved in the more recent models. so yea ibanez i think is always the way to go if youre on a budget

    could stand a bit more volume from the bass guitar on these videos, gets a bit quiet sometimes like when Lee has a lot less volume than Rob on some of their videos. Great video still Nathan is hilarious hahaha

    The SR500 line has always felt really solid for the price it's sold. I have no idea why I don't own one though... :D
    P.S. The two first hits of the bass drum in the AATB intro jingle hurts my ears. It jumps out really loud even at low volume. Maybe cut the the db in the beginning a bit or something please.
