This video is as artistic as if it were short film. You guys are conveying motorcycle knowledge through artwork and it’s so amazing to watch. Keep it up, most innovative and creative motorcycle content creator in the industry.
I’d seriously add a good skier’s backpack. Made to endure much more than what typical riding offers, are light and fit snug and secure, have plenty of space and utility pockets, and don’t worry about the fancy “motorcycle backpack” branding +the price that typically follows. Been extreme skiing with my Dakine backpack for +4 years and used it as daily motorcycle backpack for almost 3 years, and not even a single stitching has come undone. Seriously best quality for your money, if all you need is a reliable backpack that can hold bladder/computer, lots of gear, and will last you a decade.
I put my Dakine though years of hell. Many hard crashes, lots of abuse. It's been drenched in water. Frozen in ice. And fried in the sun. Once a year I give it a wash and a new blader. At this rate It might even last me a decade.
Was just about to comment that a ski bag is the way to go. I've had my Dakine Heli Pro20 for probably 8 or so years and it just keeps going. It's made to be snug when you're going fast, hold a hydration pack, and hold up under extreme stress, which is really everything you need out of a motorcycle backpack. I'll admit it might not hold up under a high speed motercycle crash but I've fallen off bikes with it at 30mph and skis at 60 and it is still holding strong. I get more comments on that than my bike just because a lot of other riders around me never realized that ski gear and motercycle gear sometimes have a nice overlap.
@@BenHawkinsvids Yup! And same goes for spine protection as well if your jacket doesn't offer a decent one built in. Hey Ryan! i just watched an old video of you from Canada's Motorcycle about the benefits of an aftermarket exhaust. I used to think you were just this skilled at effective communication. That video showed me how much experience and hard work changes a person for the good. You've been an inspiration, and from this point on an even greater one. Love your work fortnine. :)
Hey RYAN, I just wanted to thank you for all the video's, they have helped me a lot more than you can ever know. I read ALOT of hater comments from people who don't understand that there are people like me who really do NOT know a lot about Motorcycle gear, helmets, etc.....Your very informative, intelligent & funny as hell ! Again Ryan, thanks!
The Icon Dreadnaught backpack has a pocket for D3O Viper back armor (a little more CE level 2 armor cannot be a bad thing), and it can be used as tail bag. It is currently my front runner (researching equipment for next year).
Ever since I got a top case for my bike I find myself using it instead of a backpack most of the time. Givi certainly isn't as cheap as some of these backpacks, but they are waterproof and to some extent crash proof. No sweaty back. No weight to carry on my back. No limiting my movement. And the whole OneLock system is super convenient. It's literally less effort to clip the case to the carrier on the bike than it is to put on a backpack.
F9 reminds me of my responsible cousin, always giving advise when needed, intelligent, and funny. All while not trying to toot his own horn. Respect, from Georgia 🍑
Riding with my Kriega R25 backpack for more than a year, every day, not a single complaint... No weight on the shoulders, extremely comfortable even on long rides, well worth the money.
Love this channel! No fuss, no waffle; no needy pleas for me to do anything. Entertaining, informative, all delivered with a zen-like calm...It's perfect, thank you.
I bought a $10 bag from Walmart. It has a 3 point harness and 4 cinch straps to take up any slack in the already slim bag. It is also compatible with hydration systems.
Honestly one of the best bags I had was a magnetic tank bag. Straps hid behind the magnet flaps. Just grab and go. Also super nice having somewhere infront of you you could just chuck things into if you were going through a drive through
Well done yet again guys, I found myself going back and checking out the older videos. The progression is fantastic. On a side note the messenger bag is exactly what I have been looking for. Maybe a discount code for loyal viewers for product purchases? No pressure just a thought:)
Before you go shopping, ask Ryan. If there aint a video about it yet.. you’ll either have to wait, or be disappointed when one is made! Love the content, love love love it!
That's the old version of the Kriega messenger bag. The updated version has a blacked out logo, extra storage compartments, and a standard zipper instead of the roll top. I think it's better in every way. It's not "waterproof", but the waterproof flap should keep your contents dry in most conditions.
i have the old version kriega. it is a great bag, but as you guys know the newer EDC is waaay better. Did you guys see the limited edition version that had the orange highlights? that was a awesome look, to bad i couldnt get my hands on one.
Lee Harrold yes it was for Pike's peak. By the time I seen that bag, it was over. I want that bag, I wear my current bag to work as well. That orange gave it a nice flare.
Use the Kriega 25 myself, have had no issues with its water resistance, nothing has been wet when riding in bad weather. Had it maybe 5years so far, and has a slight wear mark from a slid along the ground. Keep water in the camelback all the time never had to wash it out, always fill it up and take all the air out then fold.
Great video, as always, but you need to include a student backpack - - a large affordable bag that's able to hold a laptop plus several large, hardcover textbooks, a few notebooks, and a collection of pens, calculators, and ramen noodles.
Ryan, you are beating Revzilla's videos. I like the way your videos are so unbiased. Also, checked the prices at Fortnine and I guess soon I'll be buying everything there. No more duty and customs :)
Ryan F9 & team, love your videos any and every time you drop them. You guys make some world class videos and we all love it! Ever thought about doing a group meet (and maybe ride) with fans in Van?
Loved the video, got the nelson-rigg right after. They answered about the laptop pouch, as apparently they didn't want the laptop to hit the ground when you put the bag down, this convinced me even more actually
I bought the Nelson-Rigg Hurricane dry bag last Spring. It was useful in the rain on the FZ-07 converted touring bike. I think it was the 20 or 30L. On the small passenger seat, it was a little large, but provided me with a nice back rest!
Dude that first one looks perfect for mid-small storage for small touring, WITH a hydration bladder AND thermal foil keeping your baguette warm. Top notch. The only question is if its wide enough to hold your laptop.
Didnt know they had so many difftrent bags.... Crazy seen a few of your videos lately you earned my sub! Plenty of great videos and alot of information!
I swear Ryan, you could make a review of paint drying watchable... nice timing too, am on the lookout for a backpack... thanks for yet another excellent video...
Just ordered the Nelson Rigg Hurricane 20L. Should be a good compromise in size/weight. I only plan on single overnight trips max, so hopefully this should suffice with very minimalist packing and maybe another 10 or 20L roll top on the tail.
From the click-pic, you looked like a Ghostbuster! Thought that was a particle accelerator on your back... I still watched the video, because it's Ryan F9!!! Keep kicking out the great vids Man!
Hey Ryan. Don't know if you'll read this but its 2021 and I want to buy a motorcycle backpack. I'm lost without my favourite youtuber telling me what's good or not so I would love a 2021 version of this video. Hope you're doing great. Love from Greece
I'm definitely a fan of the 35 to 55 liter roll top waterproof backpack that I can use off the bike, that I carry strapped to the luggage rack as a tail bag, with a pair of 20 liter roll top bags that I can use as panniers, then strap to the backpack to carry. For commuting where I need collapsible storage and don't need to hike, a waterproof roll top duffle bag is more convenient to load and unload. It'd also be good for motocamping next to the bike.

Ryan's videos are fantastic. He has a point, gets to it, and does it with humor. And the video production is outstanding. I watch them all.

What with the plastic foot!!

The shape of the laptop pouch prevents the laptop from sliding all the way to the bottom. That way it doesn't impact the ground when you drop it.

Great short pitch about the Kreepa messenger bag. And you are right, I can't overlook the hideous branding on the shoulder strap.
I've been using the "sling" version of that kriega messenger bag for almost 3 years in daily basis. It met my expectations for looking more like a common bag that most flashy motorcycle backpacks. So I use it in commute for work and even when not riding.

As always another great video. Thanks Ryan.
Admit it... you wanted to laugh when you pulled out the AR at 5:53
man that BMW looks amazing in the background
After seeing your recommendation for the Nelson-Rigg Hurricane I looked into and it's the perfect bag for my needs. Just ordered one. Thanks for the tip!
Where can I buy your baby foot?
If you can give me a good reason for needing one, it's yours. ~RF9
FortNine the question is why you already own
one?
II need it so I can cut off a toe, so together we will we FootNine.
I want that foot so I can shove it up my friends ass
Because it may be cheaper then boots, so I get .5 extra life on my foot
I've found that some bicycling backpacks work great on a motorcycle... I have the Osprey Radial 34. 34 liters of storage, *tons* of pockets, built in waterproof cover (you might want to secure it a little more for motorcycle speeds, and in light rain it isn't necessary anyway), and a wire frame that serves as a pack kickstand, distributes weight, and keeps an air pocket between the pack and you... It wouldn't hold up spectacularly in a crash I'm sure, but when I'm commuting if I crash the contents of my backpack are the least of my worries.
I have been using a regular backpack for as long as I drive. Works fine never had any problems with them.
So god damn informative. I have to watch 3 times to get all the info. Thanks!!!
That purge valve is an amazing feature! Wish my Kriega tailpack had that.
Patiently waiting for the 2020 version of this video

That Kriega adjustable strap has been on quality rifle slings for quite some time now. Funny how they patented it.
